Chapter 328 Chloe's Jealousy
Esmeralda walked over, helped Scott up from the ground, and asked with concern, "Are you okay?"
Scott had been beaten up, his face bruised and swollen, with some blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
He hurriedly shook his head and said, "I'm fine."
Dashiell then smiled and said, "Since Esmeralda is willing to compensate him, let's just leave it at that."
Then, looking at Scott, he said, "Get lost."
"Larry," Scott looked at Larry, wanting to say something but hesitated.
He wanted to speak but couldn't bring himself to.
Because Larry was no longer his son-in-law; Larry had already divorced Chloe.
Larry glanced at him, then looked at Esmeralda and said, "What are you giving? Do you have a lot of money? The Lewis family has plenty of money; they don't need your few million dollars."
"Larry," Esmeralda started to speak, but then remembered that Larry had already divorced Chloe, so she didn't finish her sentence.
Larry looked at Scott and said, "For the sake of old times, I've already helped you, but I have no obligation to pay this few million dollars for you. You'd better call Chloe and have her come up with the money."
After saying that, Larry turned and left.
Esmeralda didn't say anything either and followed Larry back into Discovery Antiques.
Dashiell glanced at the burly men beside him.
The burly men immediately understood, forcibly dragged Scott into Discovery Antiques, tied him up, confiscated his phone, found Chloe's number in his contacts, and called her.
They told her to bring money to ransom him.
Discovery Antiques, rest area.
"Larry, even though you and Chloe are divorced, he was once your family. How can you be so heartless?" Esmeralda said, "A few million dollars is just a number to me."
Larry glanced at her and said, "I've already helped him suffer less; that's enough. I know you don't lack money, but you can't just spend it like this," Larry explained forcefully.
He didn't even know what he was thinking now.
Esmeralda thought for a moment, then smiled brightly, "Larry, I get it. You want to take this opportunity to see Chloe, right?"
When Esmeralda said this, Larry's heart trembled.
Taking this opportunity to see Chloe, is that it?
He shook his head slightly; he didn't know if that was the case.
Seeing Larry's expression, Esmeralda knew she had hit the mark. She didn't say anything more and sat down to rest.
Larry was slightly stunned, then took out his phone and started playing a game.
After receiving the call from Discovery Antiques, Chloe quickly rushed over.
In less than half an hour, she appeared at Discovery Antiques.
As soon as she entered the store, she saw Larry and Esmeralda sitting in the rest area.
She immediately frowned, walked over, crossed her arms, and glared at him, "Larry, what are you doing here?"
Larry looked up.
He saw Chloe.
After coming into money, Chloe had changed a lot. She was dressed in designer clothes, exuding an air of sophistication, like someone from a noble family.
Larry said indifferently, "Why can't I be here?"
Chloe glanced at Esmeralda and said coldly, "You're really quick, huh? Just divorced and already with another woman. You must have been with her all along and wanted to divorce me, right?"
"Chloe, don't talk nonsense. There's nothing between Larry and me," Esmeralda stood up to explain.
"Shut up."
Chloe snapped coldly, "I'm talking to Larry. Do you have any right to speak?"
Chloe didn't give Esmeralda any face at all.
Even though she was Xerxes's daughter, Chloe showed no courtesy.
She didn't know what was wrong with her.
She just felt uncomfortable seeing Larry with another woman.
Maybe it was jealousy.
Jealousy that Larry was with Esmeralda and about to inherit Xerxes's assets.
Larry's expression showed dissatisfaction, "Chloe, did she provoke you?"
"What's the matter, feeling sorry for her? I just said one thing, and you can't wait to stand up for her?" Chloe sneered.
"You're being unreasonable. I can't be bothered with you." Larry took out a cigarette, lit it, and ignored Chloe.
At this moment, Dashiell brought Scott over.
"Chloe, Scott damaged a jade plate worth 3.8 million dollars. I'll give you a discount; you pay 3.5 million dollars, and you can take Scott away."
Seeing Scott being dragged by several burly men, his face bruised and swollen, Chloe immediately got angry.
She turned to Larry and accused, "Larry, what are you doing? You're here, so why did Scott get beaten up?"
Chloe knew Larry's skills; these burly men were no match for Larry.
Now Larry was at Discovery Antiques, but Scott was beaten black and blue.
Larry said indifferently, "I already stopped it. If I hadn't, who knows how much worse he would have been beaten."
"You helped?" Chloe said coldly, "If you helped, would my dad be beaten like this? You're doing this on purpose to get back at me for divorcing you, right?"
"Chloe, stop it. He really helped me. If it weren't for him, I would have been beaten to death," Scott defended Larry.
Dashiell said coldly, "Chloe, if you have something to say, say it outside. Are you paying the money or not?"
Chloe looked at Scott and asked, "Dad, did you really break something in the store?"
Scott explained, "I accidentally broke it."
Chloe looked at Dashiell and said coldly, "If something is broken, it should be compensated for. I'll pay the money, but you injured my dad. How do we settle that?"
Dashiell looked at Chloe and laughed, "Chloe, you're the first to talk to me like this. But since you brought it up, let's settle it. The jade plate is worth 3.8 million dollars. I'll only charge you 3.5 million dollars, and the remaining 300,000 dollars will be for medical expenses. How about that?"
Chloe was trembling with anger.
Dashiell couldn't be bothered to argue with Chloe anymore and stepped back slightly.
Several burly men stepped forward, surrounding Chloe.
Chloe was also scared and gritted her teeth, "Fine, I'll pay."
Reluctantly, Chloe paid the 3.5 million dollars.
Then she pulled Scott to leave.
But Scott asked Dashiell for the broken jade plate and its certificate of authenticity.
So, he left with some broken jade pieces.
Throughout the whole process, Larry didn't say a word.
After Chloe left with Scott, Esmeralda asked, "Larry, you and Chloe were so in love. How did it come to this, like enemies meeting?"
Larry gave a self-deprecating smile and said, "It was always one-sided on my part. She never had me in her heart."
Larry waved his hand slightly, interrupting Esmeralda.
"No need to say more."
"Okay." Esmeralda then fell silent.
Larry called out, "Dashiell, has the item I wanted arrived?"
Dashiell walked over, sat down beside him, took out a cigar, and handed it to Larry, smiling, "Mr. Bennett, don't worry. It's on its way and should be here in ten minutes. But let me tell you, this chest is priceless. Can you afford it?"
Larry took the cigar and said indifferently, "As long as it's genuinely from Victor Veil's Tomb, I'll pay any price."
Meanwhile.
Outside Discovery Antiques.
Chloe looked at Scott with a disappointed expression, "Dad, when will you ever amount to something? Do you want to be this pathetic for the rest of your life?"
Scott hung his head and said nothing.
Chloe's chest heaved with anger.
"I don't even know what to say to you."
Scott said softly, "Chloe, don't tell Maria about this. If she finds out, she'll definitely scold me again."
"Fine, I know. I won't say anything. You go home; I have things to do."
Chloe said and then turned and left.
