Chapter 266 Chloe Registers as a Doctor
Larry's words got him nothing but laughs and sneers from the Lewis family.
Harry's wife, Jenna, chimed in, "Larry, you really think you're something, huh? Just 'cause you know a bit about medicine, you think you're a top doc? Sunset City's got tons of doctors, and any one of them could run circles around you."
Oscar added, "Yeah, all you do is show off. No real skills."
Larry didn't bother arguing.
The Lewis family never liked him and took every chance to put him down.
He was used to it and didn't see the point in fighting back.
Chloe then asked, "Honey, do you really have a plan to bring Everjoy Company back to life?"
Larry replied calmly, "What does Everjoy Company have to do with me? This time, I want to make the Everlasting Group—no, Global Nexus Group—famous at this medical conference."
"Stop with the big talk."
"Larry, I wanna see how you make Chloe's Global Nexus Group rise."
"The factory's shut down, and the office is closed. Let's see you work your magic."
The Lewis family kept mocking.
"Chloe, let's head to Global Nexus Group."
"Okay." Chloe nodded.
They left and soon arrived at a small clinic.
This clinic was just one shop, tucked away in a remote part of Medical Street. Chloe renamed Everlasting Group to Global Nexus Group, but it temporarily closed the same day.
Out front, there were a few chairs, and a bored doctor sat there.
Meanwhile, Thomas and his family were handing out flyers on the street.
"Check out Global Nexus Group clinic. Thirty years of medical experience, no consultation fees, and all meds at half price."
Thomas, his eldest son Drake, second son Leon, grandson Tommy, and others were handing out flyers.
People took the flyers, glanced at them, and tossed them in the trash.
Larry and Chloe walked over.
"Chairman."
The family immediately approached.
Chloe asked, "Thomas, how's it going?"
Thomas looked helpless and bitter. "There are too many clinics and famous doctors on Medical Street. Our small clinic has no business; everyone goes to the big clinics and famous doctors."
Tommy called out, holding a phone, "Grandpa, Pillar Pharmacy has over 200,000 appointments. Without Dr. Rogers, Lucy has the most appointments, over 80,000."
Tommy was looking at an app made for the medical conference.
Citizens could download the app to pick their preferred doctor for appointments and see the appointment status of each clinic and doctor.
Hearing this, Victor sighed. "We can't compete with them. They have Dr. Rogers, and his granddaughter Lucy is also very skilled. All the other doctors at Pillar Pharmacy are famous."
At that moment, Harry's family walked over.
Seeing the Global Nexus Group clinic so empty, they laughed.
"Nobody here either?"
"With such a remote location, no wonder there are no patients."
"If I were sick, I wouldn't come here either. Look at this place, just one small, low-class shop."
The Lewis family was gloating.
Tommy shot back, "Your Everjoy Company isn't doing any better; even the doctors have quit."
Oscar immediately got angry and clenched his fists, ready to fight.
"What are you doing?" Victor walked over and scolded.
Oscar then held back.
Thomas looked at the approaching Victor with a complex expression.
For decades, Victor had never come to his clinic.
Today was the first time in twenty years.
"Thomas." Victor walked over with a cane, looking helpless. "Back then, we fought bitterly over the inheritance. So many years have passed, and now that we're old and nearing death, it's time to let go of that grudge."
Thomas's family all turned to look at Victor, confused.
"What are those looks for?" Oscar said arrogantly, pointing at Thomas's family. "Didn't you hear my grandpa talking to you?"
"Oscar, shut up," Victor scolded.
"Okay," Oscar muttered.
Victor sighed, looking at Thomas's somber face. "The Lewis family has been through a lot, and I've realized that the past should stay in the past. We're all family; there's no need to keep this up."
Victor's change of heart made Chloe happy. She said cheerfully, "Grandpa, it's great that you understand. From now on, our family can live in harmony."
"Who's family with him?" Drake's son Tommy said, clearly annoyed.
When they had money, they never thought of them. Now that they're in trouble, they want to make amends.
Thomas's expression softened a bit. "Let the past be the past then."
Even though the two elders decided to bury the hatchet, the two families hadn't interacted for over twenty years and had no real bond, so there was still some tension.
After greeting Chloe, Victor took the others back to Everjoy Company.
Chloe then looked at Larry. "Honey, what do we do next?"
Larry sat on the doorstep of the Global Nexus Group clinic, watching people pass by on the street.
That morning, he had been forced to take poison. He kept wondering who had done it.
This person could mobilize so many people and even dared to use a rocket launcher in the city, indicating they had significant power. Yet, they didn't want to kill him. They just didn't want him to participate in the medical conference. What exactly were they trying to do?
"Honey."
Larry snapped back to reality and looked at Chloe. "What's up? "
"What are you thinking about?" Chloe asked.
"Nothing," Larry waved his hand slightly. "Chloe, log into that software and register as a doctor for Global Nexus Group."
"I don't know any medical skills," Chloe said, looking troubled.
"I'm here, don't worry," Larry said with a smile.
Now he had to cooperate with the hidden enemy and put on a show. He couldn't take action himself and could only help Chloe from the shadows. As long as Chloe could make it into the top 100 and participate in the final medical competition, he would be able to find out what the hidden enemy was up to. His intuition told him that this medical conference might be dangerous.
"Okay."
Chloe didn't say anything more. She opened the software, logged in, and registered as a doctor for the Global Nexus Group clinic.
Then she looked at the rules: to make it into the top 100, she needed votes from treated patients. It wasn't just one vote for treating one person. Only if the patient was satisfied after treatment would they cast their vote for the treating doctor. Additionally, the app had a popularity ranking. Anyone who logged into the app could vote for their favorite doctor, with each person allowed one vote per day.
After three days, the combination of popularity votes and patient votes would determine the top 100 doctors who could participate in the medical competition.
"Honey, this is too hard. I don't know any medical skills. How can I treat patients and make them satisfied?" Chloe said, looking troubled.
Larry smiled faintly. "That's why you have me. Besides, you're the most beautiful woman in Sunset City, a goddess in many people's hearts. As long as your information appears on the app's homepage, people will vote for you. Getting into the top 100 won't be difficult."
