Chapter 43 Job Application
Larry rode his electric scooter and took Chloe to a large job market nearby.
At the entrance, Chloe said, "Larry, you wait outside. I'll go in by myself."
Larry joked. "What? Are you embarrassed to be seen with me?"
Chloe quickly explained, "Not at all. I just might take a while, and I don't want you to get bored. There's an internet cafe nearby; you can go play some games. I'll call you when I'm done."
She nudged Larry.
Despite never having been in a relationship, she had read many books.
It always said that men hated shopping with women, and she was genuinely worried Larry would find it annoying.
"I don't play games. I'll go with you. You're so beautiful; I can't leave you alone," Larry said with a smile.
Chloe felt very happy and kept nodding.
She actually wanted him to go with her.
The two of them walked into the job market together.
Various companies had set up recruitment booths, and many young men and women in suits and professional attire were coming and going, looking for suitable positions.
Larry asked, "Chloe, what kind of job are you looking for?"
Chloe said, "I'll see. As long as it's suitable, I'll take it. I don't have much work experience, so even a small position is fine. I'll treat it as a learning experience. I believe in my abilities; once a company hires me, I'll definitely rise quickly."
"How about calling Leo and asking him to get you a position at Legion Lord?"
"It's better not. He's a big shot, very busy. He wouldn't bother with someone like me," Chloe shook her head slightly and said, "Even though you saved him, he's already repaid that favor. We can't rely on others forever; we have to work hard ourselves."
Larry was very pleased with her response.
He felt incredibly lucky to have married such a good wife.
He said, "Chloe, we've got our marriage certificate, but we haven't had a wedding yet. Let's pick a good day and have a grand wedding. I promise to make you the happiest bride in the world."
"No rush." Chloe waved her hand slightly. "Let's work hard for a few years, save some money, buy a house, and then think about it."
Hearing this, Larry didn't say much more.
At that moment, Chloe saw a company recruiting for a position that suited her well.
It was a fashion designer.
She had loved beauty since she was a child, but an accident ten years ago had disfigured her, making her the ugliest woman in Sunset City.
The uglier she was, the more she longed for beauty.
So, she majored in fashion design in college.
Chloe loved beauty and enjoyed designing beautiful clothes to compensate for her facial flaws.
Besides fashion design, she had also learned a lot, such as sales, accounting, finance and marketing.
In the past ten years, she had learned almost everything she could. But among all these fields, her greatest passion was fashion design.
Chloe grabbed Larry's hand, pointed ahead, and said, "Larry, this is the Ella Group. The Ella Group's SOL Brand is a globally renowned high-end brand. I want to work at the Ella Group as a fashion designer."
Her face lit up with joy, and she almost jumped with excitement.
Chloe had been very ugly before, which made her subconsciously pursue beauty. She knew all about these fashion companies and brands.
Larry said, "Then go for it. I believe in you; you'll get the job."
Chloe nodded, took a deep breath, and forced herself to calm down.
Then, she went to the Ella Group's recruitment area.
The Ella Group was a large international corporation. Other companies had just a table for recruitment, but the Ella Group had a small room.
At the entrance, many people were lined up to submit their resumes and attend interviews.
Chloe joined the line.
After more than an hour, it was finally her turn.
A man in his thirties named John Wilson was sitting in an office chair.
Dressed in a suit and tie, he was organizing documents, getting ready to leave.
Hearing footsteps, he didn't look up. "Leave your resume on the table and wait for a call. If you pass, we'll notify you for an interview."
Chloe immediately placed her prepared resume on the table.
At that moment, John looked up.
When he saw Chloe, he couldn't take his eyes off her. "Wait a moment."
Chloe, who was about to leave after placing her resume, stopped and looked at the Ella Group's recruitment manager. "Is there something else?"
John stared at her from head to toe, his expression filled with greed. He had seen beauty before, but never someone this beautiful.
John pointed to a chair and said, "Sit down, let's talk."
"Okay." Chloe sat down.
"What position are you applying for?"
"Designer."
"Do you have any relevant work experience?"
"No."
John frowned and said, "That's not good. Do you know what kind of company this is? Do you know what it means to be a designer here?"
He picked up the resume and looked at it. "Graduated from a second-tier fashion design school, no work experience..."
He shook his head slightly. "Do you know that those applying for this position are graduates from top universities abroad, many with years of experience at well-known companies? You have no advantage at all!"
Chloe quickly said, "I may not have work experience, but my understanding of fashion design is definitely not inferior to those with years of experience. Please give me a chance to bring my design portfolio to the company for an interview."
John stroked his chin, scrutinizing Chloe. His gaze lingered on her fair neck for a while before finally settling on her blouse, which strained against her ample bosom. He subconsciously swallowed.
Then, he pretended to continue reading the resume.
When he saw that she had once been the executive director of the Everjoy Company, he immediately knew who she was.
This was Chloe from the Lewis family!
The Lewis family was the talk of the town today!
This morning, the Lewis family had become a laughingstock.
Victor had taken a fake invitation to attend the Free King succession ceremony and was thrown out.
And Larry, who had returned from the military, had borrowed a special car.
That was really impressive.
However, it had spread.
The car belonged to a big shot who wasn't in Sunset City.
Larry's superior happened to know the driver of this big shot, so he borrowed the car.
People were saying that once this big shot returned and found out, not only would the driver be in trouble, but Larry's superior would also be in trouble, and Larry would pay a heavy price.
Daring to show off with a special car was courting death.
John said,"Chloe, right? I think you meet our company's requirements in every way. How about let's meet tonight to discuss the follow-up interview. Actually, we don't have to wait until tonight; I'm about to get off work. Let's find a place to talk in detail."
"Sure." Chloe's face lit up with joy, and she quickly said, "Thank you so much."
"No need to thank me. The Lewis family has done me a favor before. Since you're from the Lewis family, I'll definitely help you. Let's talk privately, and I'll explain the follow-up interview process in detail. I'll open a backdoor for you to ensure you're hired," John started to deceive her.
The most important thing now was to trick Chloe into going to a hotel. Once there, she wouldn't be able to resist.
Chloe believed John's words and really thought the Lewis family had done him a favor and that he wanted to help her.
Outside the Ella Group's recruitment room, Larry was squatting and smoking.
At that moment, he felt a sense of danger. He immediately became alert and scanned the surroundings, spotting someone in the crowd.
Larry frowned. "What's she doing in Sunset City?"
Seeing that Chloe hadn't come out yet, he thought for a moment and quickly followed.
