Chapter 431 The Powell Family Meeting

Tonight, Larry crashed at the military district.

In one of the rooms, a few snacks were spread out on the table. Frank and Larry each had a bottle of whiskey in hand.

Frank took a sip and said, "Larry, with Alistair gone, Aurora Citadel can finally chill."

Larry shook his head. "Chill? This might just be the start of a whole new mess."

Tonight's mission to take down Alistair had some unexpected twists, but it was ultimately successful. However, Larry felt this was just the start of a storm.

A mysterious group called the Cabinet Room had emerged. Why did they help him? He couldn't figure it out.

Frank was puzzled and asked, "Why?"

"Forget it, let's just drink," Larry said, not wanting to dwell on it.

Meanwhile, at a hotel in Aurora Citadel, in the presidential suite, a woman with long blonde hair in a black dress was looking at an elderly man.

"Why wear a mask? Larry won't know who's helping him," Chloe asked, confused.

Richard fiddled with his ring. "The mask is to keep your identity hidden and to prevent anyone from tracing the origins of the Cabinet Room."

Chloe asked, "What do we do next?"

"Next, you handle things as you see fit. Just remember, don't show your face. If anyone finds out who you are now, it will cause big trouble. It won't just harm Larry; it will harm you too, and no one will be able to save you," Richard warned before leaving.

Chloe sat in the chair, deep in thought. She couldn't understand what Richard was planning. But she was happy to help Larry. People always said she was a burden to him, and she had indeed held him back. But now, secretly helping him solve problems, she was eager to tell him. Yet, remembering Richard's warning, she held back.

The night passed quietly.

The next morning, the national media reported on the Legion of Flame Surge's lockdown of the city the previous night. Although the lockdown was quickly lifted, it caused a stir. Aurora Citadel was the capital, and many people were watching its every move. Everyone knew something had happened last night, but no one knew exactly what.

Larry was still asleep when there was a knock on the door. He woke up slowly and went to open it. Frank, already dressed in his uniform, stood at the door and saluted. "Dragon King, it's time to hold a press conference and announce what happened last night."

Larry, still groggy, yawned. "You handle it. I don't need to be there." He handed Frank the documents given to him by Shadow. "After the announcement, go to the Hall of Judgment and reveal all of Alistair's crimes over the years. This matter will be settled."

"Dragon King, without you leading, I can't manage," Frank said, looking troubled.

"Of course you can. You're a one-star general, after all," Larry said, turning back to his room.

Frank followed him in. "Alistair was killed by you, and the Execution Sword is in your hands. Without you, I can't explain it."

"I don't want to be in the spotlight right now. You can handle it. Alistair is dead, and the rest is just formalities. The King will take care of the rest," Larry said.

With Larry refusing to go, Frank had no choice but to leave. He headed straight to the Hall of Judgment, where many officials and journalists, both domestic and international, had gathered.

Frank kicked off the press conference, giving a quick rundown of last night's events. "The Black Dragon Army has been quietly investigating Alistair, the head of the Legion of Flame Surge. After gathering enough evidence of his crimes, we moved to arrest him. Alistair resisted and injured law enforcement officers, leading to his immediate execution."

The news of Alistair's death sent shockwaves through the room. High-ranking officials immediately grilled Frank. "Even if Alistair committed crimes, it wasn't the Black Dragon Army's place to enforce the law. Who gave you that authority?"

"Alistair was one of the Five Great Marshals. Arresting him required a meeting and discussion. Frank, you're just a one-star general of the Southwild Black Dragon Army. You had no right to arrest or execute Alistair without a public trial."

Alistair had plenty of supporters among the officials, and they were furious. The Secretary-General and the Chief Administrator, who had heard rumors the previous night, stayed quiet.

Frank, expecting the backlash, addressed the crowd. "I didn't have the authority. Alistair was executed by the Execution Sword. I was just a participant. The one who wielded the sword remains confidential for security reasons."

Hearing about the Execution Sword, those defending Alistair fell silent. The Execution Sword held supreme authority, allowing for immediate action without prior approval.

The Secretary-General then spoke up. "The state had been monitoring Alistair and decided to act after thorough internal discussions."

The Chief Administrator added, "We will soon reveal evidence of Alistair's crimes at the Hall of Judgment."

The press conference caused a nationwide uproar. "Alistair is dead?"

"Yeah, the state held a press conference. The Black Dragon Army enforced the law, and Alistair resisted arrest, injuring officers. He was executed by the Execution Sword."

Meanwhile, at the Powell family estate, Logan had returned overnight to report to the family head. The family head, Amos Powell, convened a meeting with key members, which lasted all night.

Logan shared his analysis, suspecting the Cabinet Room was linked to the Bennett family, who had been inactive for years but now seemed to be making a move. "The Bennett family likely has the Victor Veil artifact and has deciphered the Artwork of Moonlit. They aim to obtain the Powell family's treasure map and will target other families to complete the set."

"Larry must die," Logan concluded.

"Yes, Larry must die," others agreed.

Amos, the eighty-year-old but still vigorous head of the Powell family, pondered deeply. He also suspected the Bennett family was behind the Cabinet Room, seeking the other families' maps. After careful consideration, he instructed, "Logan, take four top fighters and capture Larry. Don't harm him yet. Let's see how the Bennett family reacts and if they will protect him."

Amos wanted to avoid a direct conflict with the powerful Bennett family and potential manipulation by others. "Understood," Logan replied, a grim look on his face.
