Chapter 467 Aurora Citadel Incident
                    Larry nodded.
The owner of Discovery Antiques must've known something important, and the enemy figured Larry would come looking, so they killed him to keep him quiet.
Larry pulled out his phone and called the cops.
Then he started checking out the office.
The doors and windows were fine, but the window was open.
He guessed the killer had jumped out of it.
Soon, the police showed up and started collecting evidence.
Larry knew this lead was a dead end, and sticking around wouldn't get him the answers he needed.
He decided to head back.
He drove in silence the whole way.
"Could Grandpa really still be alive? Did he cause all this?" Larry wondered as he drove.
He felt completely lost.
It was a helplessness he hadn't felt in years.
Paisley understood how Larry was feeling.
She tried to comfort him, "Larry, don't worry. I believe Trinity, Abigail, and Chloe will be fine. You can't afford to be lost right now. You need to get stronger, and fast."
Larry took a deep breath.
Easier said than done.
The three women who had disappeared were all deeply connected to him.
He couldn't calm his mind, couldn't stop thinking, couldn't stop acting.
They soon arrived back at Esmeralda's house.
Esmeralda could tell from Larry's expression that he hadn't found anything useful, so she wisely didn't ask.
As soon as Larry got back, he collapsed onto the couch.
Paisley also knew better than to disturb him.
Esmeralda pulled Paisley aside and whispered, "Paisley, did you find anything?"
Paisley whispered back, "No, we were too late. The person was already killed."
Larry was silent the entire day.
Paisley found a chance to tell Cody, who was far away in Aurora Citadel, everything that had happened in Sunset City.
She had been sent to protect Larry, but she also had another task: to keep an eye on him.
Paisley had promised Larry she wouldn't say anything, but she didn't hide the fact that Trinity, Abigail, and Chloe had disappeared, or that someone who looked like Richard had appeared.
Soon, it was evening.
At the Vale Villa, in the living room.
Larry had been thinking all day. He stood up from the couch, took a deep breath, and looked at Paisley and Esmeralda sitting across from him.
"I've made up my mind. I need to quickly improve my strength. I'm going to retreat to my room. In a week at most, I should be able to cultivate Qi again. Then I can try to absorb the cold energy from Esmeralda's body."
Seeing Larry regain his determination, Paisley felt relieved.
"Go ahead. I believe you can do it."
Larry looked at her, "While I'm at it, you should also try to understand the heart method in the Artwork of Moonlit. See if you can decipher it."
Paisley nodded, "I will."
Larry then stood up and headed upstairs.
For the next few days, Larry locked himself in his room, only coming out to eat. He meditated seriously, gathering Qi.
At the same time, he sent the meditation and Qi cultivation methods to the Eight Heavenly Dragons abroad, urging them to cultivate Qi as quickly as possible and become top-level experts. Meanwhile, Aurora Citadel was in complete chaos.
The chaos was triggered by the theft of the Morgan family's guardian map.
The Morgan family's surveillance clearly showed that the thief was Cody from the Bennett family.
As a result, the Morgan family and the Bennett family clashed violently, causing many casualties.
Eventually, other forces in Aurora Citadel stepped in to mediate.
But the grudges between the Four Great Families were beyond reconciliation.
Even the Powell family believed the Bennett family had stolen their map and demanded an explanation, but the Bennetts denied everything and stood their ground.
Finally, someone suggested that the ongoing chaos, which had persisted since the Gu incident a century ago when the elected leader of the families died in battle, needed a new leader. They proposed holding a conference to elect a new leader and resolve the conflicts between the Four Great Families.
This proposal was accepted by all four families.
In Sunset City.
Larry had meditated and cultivated Qi all night.
He could now gather Qi, though it was still weak.
Despite not sleeping all night, he felt invigorated.
He jumped out of bed, landed steadily on the floor, and stretched.
Then he went downstairs.
It was already eight in the morning.
Paisley and Esmeralda were already awake.
In the past few days, Paisley had fully embraced city life.
She no longer wore vintage dresses but instead donned stylish modern outfits, and her demeanor had become more lively.
"Larry."
As soon as Larry walked in, she stood up.
Larry nodded, glanced at Paisley, and smiled, "Not bad. This look suits the modern vibe."
Paisley rolled her eyes, "It was all Esmeralda's idea. She insisted on taking me to get my hair done."
"Looks great," Larry complimented.
"By the way," Paisley said, "something happened in Aurora Citadel."
Larry was taken aback and sat down, "What happened?"
Paisley sat across from Larry, her face serious, "The Morgan family's guardian map was stolen, and the surveillance showed that the thief was Cody from the Bennett family. So the Morgan family took people to the Bennett family, and the two families fought. The Powell family also went to the Bennett family, demanding the map from Grandpa. The families fought fiercely, causing many casualties. Finally, Mr. Strother stepped in to mediate."
Larry's expression turned serious.
He knew trouble would come to Aurora Citadel eventually, but he didn't expect it to happen so soon.
Paisley continued, "Mr. Strother said that since the disaster caused by the Gu incident a century ago, the leader died in battle, and the current environment is too chaotic. Martial artists have lost their restraint, and crimes have been frequent across the country. Now that the Four Great Families are at odds, Mr. Strother suggested holding a conference to elect a new leader and resolve the conflicts between the Four Great Families."
Larry asked, "Did the Four Great Families agree?"
Paisley nodded, "Yes, they agreed and have temporarily stopped fighting."
"When is the conference?"
"Christmas Eve, in a little over two months."
Larry looked at Paisley, "Did Cody really steal the Morgan family's map?"
Paisley shook her head, "No way. My grandpa is not interested in fame or fortune. He wouldn't steal another family's map."
Larry said, "You never know. Now that he's unlocked the secret of the Artwork of Moonlit, maybe he couldn't decipher the cultivation method in the map and wanted to gather all three maps."
Paisley shook her head, "I know my grandpa. He's not that kind of person."
Larry rubbed his temples, "Then who stole the map? This is clearly an attempt to stir up trouble."
Paisley thought for a moment, "It's very likely the person who took Trinity and the others. And now Mr. Strother is mediating. According to our previous speculation, Mr. Strother might be backed by Richard. If that's the case, Richard's goal is clear. He wants to become the leader. Once he's the leader, he can command the martial artists in Summer Nation. Then whatever he wants to do next will be easy."
