Chapter 83 Act Without Hesitation
Ulysses' boss Ian was also somewhat famous in the gang world and owned a fairly upscale club in Sunset City.
Ulysses' job was to drive a BMW around bus stations, train stations, and airports looking for prey.
Once he spotted someone from out of town who looked attractive, he started to lure them in.
As soon as they got in the car, they were trapped.
Once they were in the car, Ulysses took out a bottle of water that had been drugged in advance.
If the woman drank it, she would soon become drowsy.
He then took her to be assaulted and recorded a video to use as blackmail.
Afterward, he sent her to the club to make money for Ian.
Ulysses scrutinized Helen, who was the most beautiful woman he had ever caught; such a woman would fetch a sky-high price if she were to be put on the market.
He thought, 'I can make a lot of money, and Ian will reward me.
'I have to have her.'
Ulysses got out of the car.
He was fairly handsome, dressed in a white suit, wearing a Rolex watch, and a gold chain around his neck. But all of these were fake, bought to disguise himself and deceive unsuspecting young women.
He approached Helen with a gentle smile on his face and said, "Hey, beauty, are you new to Sunset City, right? Even if you're not buying, I'm a native of Sunset City, and I can be your tour guide."
As he spoke, Ulysses patted his car.
"A BMW, top model. My family isn't that rich, but we have five houses in the city and a villa in the suburbs. We also own a company with assets worth a few hundred million dollars," he began to boast.
This was his routine. It worked very well.
No matter what kind of woman, they would be tempted.
However, Helen was unmoved. She glanced at Ulysses and cursed, "Are you deaf? I told you to get lost."
Ulysses didn't expect Helen to be so difficult.
Despite all he had said, she remained unmoved.
Ulysses had a quick idea and got a bottle of mineral water from the car, handing it over. "Have some water."
At that moment, another car pulled up, a 100-thousand-dollar Audi.
A handsome man got out and greeted Helen, "Helen."
Helen looked over, frowning with displeasure, and said coldly, "Why are you here? Did my mom, Lydia Martin, tell you?"
The man smiled and said, "Yes, Lydia said you were arriving in Sunset City today and asked me to pick you up. Get in the car; I've already reserved a table at Pavilion Restaurant. Let's go eat first."
Helen glanced around; Larry hadn't arrived yet.
She thought for a moment and nodded.
"Who are you?" Ulysses was instantly angry. His prey, not yet in his grasp, was being obstructed.
The man driving the Audi was named Robert White, who was Helen's college classmate and had been pursuing her for many years.
Robert knew how to please his future mother-in-law, often visiting the Martin family and bringing gifts to Lydia. That was how he found out Helen was arriving in Sunset City today and came to pick her up in advance.
Lydia looked at Ulysses, raised an eyebrow, and said, "Who are you?"
Ulysses straightened his back and said, "Listen up, my name is Ulysses. My boss is Ian from the East Side, nicknamed Mad Dog, and people respectfully call him Mad Man."
Upon hearing this, Robert became timid immediately. He quickly took out a cigarette and handed it over, showing respect. "Oh, you're with Mad Man. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you."
Ulysses took the cigarette, looking smug.
In Sunset City, just mentioning Ian's name made most people show respect.
Robert personally lit the cigarette for Ulysses.
Originally, Helen had planned to leave with Robert.
Over the years, Robert had been pursuing her and had visited her home many times. Her mom liked Robert a lot.
Before Helen came to Sunset City this time, Lydia had reminded her multiple times about how big the White family's business was in Sunset City and how capable Robert was.
Helen thought about it and decided to give it a try.
She didn't expect he to be so spineless.
Ulysses took a drag of his cigarette and cursed, "This woman is mine. Get lost immediately."
"This..." Robert hesitated.
He had been pursuing Helen for many years, and now the opportunity was finally here. But Mad Dog was not someone to mess with; he was a gang member with hundreds of subordinates. If he offended Mad Dog, the White family might also suffer.
"Get lost now..." Ulysses kicked him.
"Okay, I'm leaving." After weighing the pros and cons, Robert compromised.
He thought, 'It isn't worth offending Mad Dog over a woman like Helen.
'If Mad Dog holds a grudge, the White family will be in trouble.'
Robert turned to leave.
"Helen?" At that moment, a voice called out.
Larry had parked his car and, seeing Helen standing by the roadside, took out a photo to compare. After confirming it was her, he walked over and said, "Helen, I'm Larry."
"Are you the Larry who married into the Lewis family?" Helen looked at Larry.
Helen had heard about it before coming.
The Lewis family had found a husband, Larry, for Chloe, bringing him into the family.
Larry had some skills; he had healed Chloe's scars, making her the most beautiful woman in Sunset City.
Larry smiled and said, "Yes, I'm the Lewis family's son-in-law, Larry."
As he spoke, Larry went to pick up Helen's suitcase.
"Where did you come from?" Ulysses glared at Larry and angrily said, "Can't you see this is my woman? Get lost, or I'll kill you."
Larry glanced at Ulysses and then at Helen. "Do you know him?"
Helen shook her head. "No."
"Then let's go." Larry picked up her suitcase.
Ulysses stepped forward, blocking Larry's path, and angrily said, "Can't you understand my words?"
"Get lost." Larry's face darkened, and he clenched his fist, raising it to punch Ulysses in the head.
Ulysses felt a wave of dizziness.
He staggered back a few steps and then fell to the ground, letting out a scream.
Robert was stunned.
He thought, 'This is someone from Mad Dog's gang, and this man hit him without hesitation?' But after Ulysses was hit, Robert walked over again, smiling. "Helen, I've reserved a table at Pavilion Restaurant. Let's go quickly."
Taking advantage of Ulysses being hit, Robert hurried to take Helen away.
"Do you know him?" Larry looked at Helen again.
Helen shook her head. "No."
Larry raised his hand and punched again.
Robert staggered back a few steps and then also fell to the ground.
Only then did Larry show a simple smile, looking at Helen. "Let's go."
Helen looked at the two men lying on the ground, unable to get up, and her mouth dropped open. "This..."
Before coming, Helen had heard about Larry.
She knew Larry was a retired soldier, but in the Lewis family, he never fought back or talked back, diligently doing housework.
She thought, 'Is this the useless Larry that the Martin family gossiping about?
'This is clearly a hero who acts without hesitation.'
"You're dead." Robert, on the ground, got up, holding his still-dizzy head, and cursed viciously, "Do you know who I am? I'm from the White family. My dad is Ethan White, the CEO of the White Group. You're dead."
Ulysses also got up, shaking his dizzy head and pointing at Larry. "You're dead. My boss Ian is the Mad Man from the East Side. Just you wait."
Saying this, he took out his phone.
He said, "Ian, I'm at the airport. My woman was taken, and I was beaten up."
