Chapter 183 Interrogating Alistair

A man in a black coat approached a courtyard in Aurora Citadel, the capital of Summer Nation. The courtyard was guarded by security personnel clad in black suits, who rushed over to stop him from entering.

"Leave, or we'll kill you," one of the guards said.

Larry, the man in the black coat, had rushed over from Sunset City by private jet to investigate a matter involving his family. He wanted to ask Alistair in person if he had been involved in the matter. If Alistair was involved in it, Larry would kill him.

"I'm Southwild's Black Dragon. Inform Alistair that I'm here to see him," Larry said, his expression somber.

Hearing that, the guards quickly retreated in fear, scrambling to follow Larry's orders.

Larry patiently waited outside. A few minutes later,a group of people quickly emerged from the courtyard.

Leading them was a man in his forties, dressed simply but exuding an unparalleled aura. This was Alistair, the most powerful of the Five Great Marshals.

"Larry, why are you here?" he said, walking over with his arms open, intending to embrace Larry.

Without a word, Larry kicked him, sending him flying. Alistair, being one of the Five Great Marshals, spun in mid-air and landed steadily.

The surrounding guards quickly raised their guns.

"What are you doing?" Alistair said, scolding them, "Do you know who he is? That's Black Dragon. Even with your guns pointing at him, he'd still be able to kill you."

They then put away their guns.

Alistair walked towards Larry, smiling. "Larry, did you come all the way here to test my skiils?"

Larry's face was stern as he coldly said, "I don't have time for that. I'm here to ask you something."

He quickly took a few steps forward, instantly standing level with Alistair and grabbing him by the collar, lifting him off the ground.

"Tell me, are you involved with what happened at the ancient tomb?"

"Larry, what do you mean by this?" Alistair said. "Put me down so we can talk about this rationally. So many people are watching. After all, I am one of the Five Great Marshals. If this gets out..."

Before he could finish, Larry flung him out. Before Alistair could get up, Larry had strode over and stepped on him..

"I don't have time to mess around with you. I'll ask again: did that have anything to do with you?" Larry said.

The guards raised their guns again, but they didn't dare to shoot.

Despite his predicament, Alistair didn't get angry. Instead, he smiled and said, "I don't know what you're talking about. Larry, what's wrong with you?"

Larry persisted in asking. "The owner of Timeless Treasures Antiques in Sunset City, Dashiell, is under your command. Kairo is under your command. Are you sure it had nothing to do with you?"

"Alright, I admit, it has something to do with me," Alistair admitted.

Larry's aura shifted. It became clear that he wanted to kill Alistair. The aura was terrifying, as expected of the battle-hardened Black Dragon.

"Larry, what are you trying to pull?" Alistair asked.

Larry lifted his foot off of Alistair, yanked him up, and dragged him into the courtyard.

Later, in a room in the courtyard, Larry somberly smoked a cigarette.Alistair sat across from him, rubbing his chest. He glanced at Larry and asked, "Larry, why are you asking about the ancient tomb?"

Larry stared coldly at him. "Was the destruction of the Bennett family in Sunset City ten years ago related to you? Is my family's Moonlit Artwork in your possession?"

Alistair was slightly taken aback, then laughed. "Larry, are you kidding me? How could it be related to me? I do know about the Moonlit Artwork because I am also connected to one of the Four Great Families. Each of the families has an heirloom piece of artwork in their possession."

Larry was taken aback and asked, "What do you mean?"

Alistair was surprised. "You really don't know?"

"I really don't. Tell me."

Alistair said, "It's a secret. It's better if you don't know. It won't do you any good to know about it. When Richard left the Bennett family, you were no longer part of the family, and therefore had nothing more to do with the Four Great Families. You shouldn't get involved in these matters."

Larry stared intently at Alistair. Even if Alistair wasn't the one who destroyed the Bennett family, he definitely knew a lot of inside information.

His expression darkened, and he suddenly struck, appearing instantly in front of Alistair with a silver needle pressed against the artery in his neck.

At that moment, Alistair felt the threat of death.

Alistair coldly said, "Larry, what are you trying to do? If you kill me, do you think you'll make it out of here alive?"

"Tell me, what's going on?"

Alistair snorted in derision. "If you want to know, find out for yourself."

Larry's silver needle pierced his skin. Alistair felt the pain in his neck.

"If you think can leave this place alive after killing me, go ahead and do it," Alistair said.

"Don't think I won't dare to," Larry replied, filled with murderous intent.

Alistair definitely knew more than he was letting on. Even if he wasn't involved in the Bennett family's destruction, he knew who was behind it. If he killed Alistair, he would lose a key insider, making it much harder to investigate everything.

He put away the silver needle.

"I hope the Bennett family's destruction has nothing to do with you. If I find out that it does, I don't care if you're the head of the Five Great Marshals; I'll make sure you die," Larry said, before turning to leave. After he left, Alistair felt a sense of fear.

Larry left Alistair's home and went directly to the Golden Sun Palace to find the highest official. Unfortunately, the highest official was abroad, visiting other countries.

Larry was instead received by the Secretary-General, Caspian Hawthorne, who was also a person at the peak of power, with a status no lower than the Five Great Marshals.

"Mr. Hawthorne, when will the highest official return?" Larry asked.

Caspian Hawthorne was the secretary to the highest official and had significant power in Aurora Citadel.

"Commander Black Dragon, the official's schedule is fully booked for this month. He will not be returning anytime soon."

Larry asked, "Why hasn't my resignation been approved?"

"Commander Black Dragon, this isn't a matter to be taken lightly. Your resignation application is with me. I haven't given it to the official. I'm giving you a chance to reconsider. The Southwild border needs you, and the people of Summer Nation need you." Caspian said.

"I hope my application will be approved by tomorrow," Larry said, before standing up and leaving. Caspian watched him go. After he left, a man in his fifties emerged from another door. He was wearing a gray suit and was slightly overweight, but otherwise looked very spirited. He was the highest official.

"Sir," Caspian called out.

"Black Dragon really is determined to resign," the highest official said.

"Sir, I didn't expect Black Dragon to come to Aurora Citadel in person. What should we do?"

The highest official was silent for a moment, then said, "Approve it. Announce it to the world tomorrow."

Hearing this, Caspian's expression changed dramatically. "Sir, think carefully. This is not a game. Black Dragon's resignation will not only cause domestic turmoil but also potentially endanger the border."

"I've been waiting for Black Dragon to come. He finally came today. It seems he has found out about something important to him and came to investigate. It's time to deal with the chaotic forces in Aurora Citadel."

"Roger that," Caspian said,

turning to leave. He went directly to Alistair's place.

"Approval has been granted. Tomorrow, it will be announced that Black Dragon has resigned," Caspian told Alistair.

Hearing this, Alistair clenched his fists, grimly saying, "Finally. Black Dragon, let's see how you compete with me now."

Meanwhile, Larry walked out of a secret room, a pensive smile on his face.
