Chapter 91 Misunderstanding

Maria slapped Larry on the head and scolded, "You talk too much. You have no right to speak at the family meeting."

"Alright, it's settled then." Victor laughed heartily.

Moving into the Trade Center was something he never dared to dream of. Because this place was meant to become the world's financial center, and it wasn't just companies from Sunset City moving in.

In the future, major companies from across the country would relocate here.

If the Lewis family could move in, it would be a symbol of prestige. Even with an entry fee of twenty million dollars, it wouldn't matter.

"Grandpa, I..." Chloe hesitated.

However, seeing Victor's bright smile, she didn't want to spoil the mood and said dejectedly, "I'll try my best."

"Chloe, the Lewis family is counting on you."

"You must secure the entry qualification."

"Don't worry, Chloe. As long as you get the entry qualification, no matter how expensive the subsequent rent is, we can find a way to gather the money."

"Yeah, if you can't get it, then your position as chairman will be just an empty title."

The Lewis family members all chimed in.

It seemed like they were flattering her, but they were actually mocking her.

Chloe knew very well that the Lewis family members wanted to see her fail.

"Let's work together as a family to create a bright future. Meeting adjourned." Victor laughed, standing up and heading to the second floor.

Chloe also stood up and glared fiercely at Larry.

Sam's eyes were almost murderous as he cursed, "Larry, are you trying to cause trouble?"

Oscar laughed out loud. "Chloe, you'd better work hard. Getting the qualification for the Trade Center is no easy task, and being the chairman isn't easy either."

"Chloe, I heard even someone as important as Leo had to submit the paperwork obediently. Asking Leo for help this time won't work."

"Well, we'll wait for Chloe's good news then."

Chloe left the Lewis family's mansion angrily.

Larry followed her out.

On the way home, Maria, Sam, and Mindy all scolded Larry.

Maria cursed, "Larry, I'm warning you, speak less at family meetings and stop causing trouble for our family."

Sam also shouted, "You idiot, do you even know what the Trade Center is? Even opening a restaurant in the food street costs hundreds of thousands in entry fees. For the clothing street, it's also hundreds of thousands. For companies, the fees are even more terrifying."

No matter how much the Lewis family members scolded, Larry didn't talk back.

Chloe also gave him a resentful look. "You've given me a tough problem. Don't you know that Kelly from Everlife Pharmaceuticals had to go through a lot of paperwork and spent an entire morning to get in? She's the chairman of a billion-dollar company. I probably can't even get through the door."

Larry smiled and said, "Chloe, I believe in you. You can do it."

"I don't even believe in myself," Chloe said, looking dejected.

The family returned home, arguing all the way.

Helen stayed home and didn't go to the Lewis family mansion.

Seeing everyone's gloomy faces, she couldn't help but ask, "Why do you all look so upset? Weren't you going to divide the shares?"

Maria cursed, "It's all because of that useless Larry causing trouble at the family meeting and giving Chloe a tough problem."

Helen glanced at Larry and asked, "What happened?"

Maria angrily recounted the whole story.

Hearing this, Helen thoughtfully said, "Maybe Chloe can really do it."

Larry nodded. "Yeah, I believe in Chloe. Besides, even if I didn't say it, do you think the Lewis family would let Chloe sit firmly as the executive chairman? Chloe needs to earn their respect."

"Of course we know that," Maria cursed, "But this is clearly an impossible task. If we could avoid it, we would. Now, how is Chloe supposed to get the entry qualification?"

Larry spread his hands. "I don't know either. I'm not a business expert."

Chloe sighed. "Alright, stop arguing. Larry meant well. I'll prepare and go to the company tomorrow morning to get the documents and paperwork ready. I'll submit them and see if it works. If not, it's fine. Victor knows it's an impossible task, so he won't make things difficult for me."

Maria nodded. At this point, there was no other choice.

Scott was still in a daze.

He never dreamed he would one day hold 50% of the family's shares.

Sam also forgot about the unpleasantness and excitedly said, "Dad, Grandpa said you can freely distribute your shares. I'm your only son, so give me 25%."

Scott glanced at Maria.

Although he had the right to distribute, he still had to listen to her about who to give them to.

Maria slapped Sam on the head and cursed, "Chloe hasn't secured her position as chairman yet. There's still a three-month probation period. You're already thinking about the shares? Wait until Chloe is firmly in her position before distributing them."

Sam said, "Mom, we can still earn a lot in three months. Let Dad give me the shares first. I want to use the family's money to buy a villa and bring Mindy's parents to live in it."

Hearing this, Mindy was overjoyed. "Thank you, Sam."

Maria glanced at Larry and cursed, "Look at this, that's someone else's son-in-law. When he gets rich, he thinks of his in-laws. What about you?"

Larry touched his nose.

He was thinking about the Lewis family too.

If he hadn't, Chloe wouldn't be the chairman, and Scott wouldn't hold 50% of the Lewis family's shares.

Sam sensed something was wrong and quickly said, "Mom, I'm not ignoring you. Now that Dad has shares, we can buy a villa in a few months. Mindy's parents are still cramped in a 1,000-square-foot house."

"It's fine." Maria waved her hand. "I'm not angry. The Rodriguez family married Mindy to you. Now that we're well-off, we should help them."

Mindy quickly expressed her gratitude, "Thank you, Mom."

The family was immersed in joy.

Only Chloe looked worried.

She went straight to her room, opened her computer, and started writing the application for entry.

Today, Larry didn't smoke in front of Chloe.

Now he was craving a cigarette.

He didn't dare smoke on the balcony, so he went outside, sat at the stairwell, and lit a cigarette.

Helen walked over, arms crossed, looking at him sitting on the ground smoking.

She smiled and said, "Larry, it should be easy for Chloe to get the Lewis family into the Trade Center, right?"

Larry looked up and saw a delicate face. He shrugged and said, "I don't know."

"What? Aren't you going to help her secretly? If you step in, it should be easy."

"You overestimate me. I'm just a retired soldier."

Helen sat on the ground, wrapped her arms around Larry's, and almost leaned her whole body against him, laughing. "Larry, I came to Sunset City to find a job. Can you help me find a decent one?"

Chloe didn't know how to write the application.

She left her room and didn't see Larry, so she went outside to look for him.

After a few steps, she saw the stairwell not far away.

Larry was sitting on the ground, and Helen was holding his arm, almost leaning her whole body against him.

This scene was like a bolt from the blue.

Chloe was stunned.

She stood there in shock, tears welling up in her eyes.

After a few seconds, she covered her mouth and ran back inside, crying.
