Chapter 200 Return to the Command Center
There were still a few hours till dawn. Without a game plan, Larry was toast for the next few hours.
He wasn't entirely sure that the command center was at the top of the mountain. But the mountaintop? Yeah, that was a solid spot.
If it were him, he'd totally set up a temporary command center up there too.
Surrounded by cliffs, it was a high ground that was easy to defend and a pain to attack. Thinking that, Larry started cooking up a plan.
He shut his eyes, picturing the route he took to figure out where he was and how far the mountaintop was.
Estimating from memory, it wasn't spot-on but close enough.
The big deal now was finding a way to bust through the army closing in. Sneaking out quietly? Not an option.
And once he showed his face, a gnarly fight was waiting for him. He hid, not daring to make a peep.
More and more fighter jets filled the sky, their strong lights sweeping the area, lighting it up like it was daytime. Larry knew his time was running out.
The area was locked down; if he didn't find a way out, he'd be surrounded by a ton of troops. Once that happened, no way he was getting out.
As the strong light faded, he quickly jumped down from the tree.
Just as he hit the ground, the strong light flashed again. He quickly hit the deck in the grass, not moving a muscle. After the helicopter's light disappeared, he moved.
Like that, he hid and moved towards the direction the army was coming from.
Up ahead, a bunch of people showed up.
These fully armed soldiers, with strong flashlights on their heads, were doing a carpet search, moving in and tightening the noose.
Larry figured from the light points there were at least a thousand people right ahead.
Taking out a thousand people wasn't the tough part; the real pain was the helicopters constantly flying overhead, scanning back and forth. Once the fight started, he'd be instantly exposed, and relentless helicopter bombardment would follow.
He looked up at the sky. There were at least ten helicopters up there.
"Such a pain in the ass."
Larry frowned. With his sniper rifle in hand, Larry quietly crept to a cliff, hiding in the grass near a rock.
He took out his sniper rifle, which had a range of 3000 feet. Larry hid, aiming at a helicopter in the sky. The helicopter wasn't flying very fast.
He calculated the wind, resistance, and the helicopter's speed. As the helicopter got closer, he suddenly fired. The bullet shot out.
It pierced through the helicopter's glass, nailing the pilot. The helicopter lost control, crashing down to the ground.
Upon impact, the helicopter exploded, and some nearby plants caught fire immediately. The fire lit up the dark surroundings.
Larry, hiding on the cliff, watched the scene with a faint smile, then stayed hidden, looking for more chances. He quickly found another shot.
Larry fired again, taking out the pilot of another helicopter, causing it to lose control.
The chaos in the area caught the attention of nearby soldiers.
They quickly gathered, all knowing Black Dragon was in the area. In just a few minutes, thousands of soldiers had assembled.
Larry frowned at the sea of people.
He didn't dare stick around, grabbed his sniper rifle, and quickly moved through the forest.
Soren, hearing the various reports, cursed angrily, "You bunch of idiots! How did he take down the helicopter by himself?"
"Soren, this is Black Dragon. He's got the skills to pull that off. Don't sweat it, it's nighttime now, and he can use the terrain to hide. Once it's daylight, he won't be able to hide."
"Yeah, this time, with a hundred thousand troops from twenty-eight countries, I don't believe Black Dragon can escape."
"Right, he's toast."
"Just wait for dawn."
The command center was packed with generals from twenty-eight countries. These guys had all been beaten by Larry before; they knew Larry's strength. So, they weren't freaking out at all.
Once daylight came, Larry would have nowhere to hide. At this moment, Larry had secretly taken out a few sentries and snagged a rocket launcher.
He perched on a big tree, a rocket launcher slung over his shoulder, aiming at a chopper in the sky.
The rocket whooshed out, nailing the helicopter dead-on. Another one bit the dust.
Larry kept hunting for chances, and in just an hour, he had taken down over thirty helicopters. By now, there were barely any choppers left in the sky.
Without those blinding lights, it was way easier for him to move, constantly breaking through and getting closer to the mountaintop.
It was past five in the morning. Larry was near the mountaintop, where the command center was. A few hundred troops were guarding it.
The main army was combing the mountains, looking for Larry.
Larry pulled out a silenced machine gun and strolled right over, firing non-stop.
People at the mountaintop kept dropping like flies.
Inside the wooden house, generals from twenty-eight countries were huddled together.
"Soren, we've lost Black Dragon."
"He hasn't shown up for over an hour."
"Where the hell is Black Dragon hiding?"
They were all buzzing about Black Dragon's whereabouts.
"He definitely hasn't left Cedar Grove."
"He must be hiding in the mountains. Stay on high alert and wait for daylight."
Just then, the command center suddenly lost power.
"What the hell happened?"
Soren instantly barked, "Quick, go check it out."
Right then, the door swung open, and Larry walked in, decked out in camo and face paint, gripping a machine gun.
"Sorry to keep you waiting." A cold, menacing voice echoed.
"Black Dragon?" In the dark room, the sound of chairs scraping and terrified gasps filled the air.
Black Dragon had arrived, right at the mountaintop, in the command center. How did he break through and get here?
Larry reached to his lower back, pulling out a handful of silver needles, and swiftly threw them.
The silver needles shot out. Everyone in the command center was paralyzed, collapsing to the ground.
After subduing them, Larry walked out, turned the generator back on, and the lights in the command center flickered back on.
He walked back in. Inside, more than twenty people lay on the ground. Filled with terror, they wanted to move but were completely powerless.
Walking in, Larry pulled up a chair, sat down, and lit a cigar, looking at the generals from various countries.
Seeing these familiar faces. Larry chuckled. "You all got some nerve, haven't you learned your lesson?"
His laughter echoed. The generals felt deeply troubled. They knew they had lost this time. Truly defeated.
Elite forces from twenty-eight nations besieged Black Dragon, and all their top fighters were killed.
A hundred thousand troops chased Black Dragon, yet he cut them down in droves. In the end, he broke through the encirclement and came directly to the command center.
What awaited them next was death.
Larry took a drag from his cigarette, surveying the generals sprawled on the ground. With a cold, steely gaze, he demanded, "Don't say I didn't give you a chance to live. Who's the mastermind? Who's targeting me?"
"Black Dragon, if you're gonna kill, just do it. Why yap so much?" Soren spoke coldly.
Larry looked at him. "Soren, your family screwed up before by setting up an ambush for the Black Dragon Army, leading to the deaths of countless of my brothers. I didn't expect you to make the same mistake again."
Larry walked over and grabbed Soren from the ground.
"Do you really think I won't kill you?"
"Black Dragon, I beg your mercy. The borders are peaceful now, and you're no longer the commander of the Black Dragon Army. If you kill Soren, it will ignite a war."
"Is that so?"
Larry smiled faintly, then his face darkened. He grabbed Soren's neck and squeezed hard.
Soren's head lolled, and he died without even a scream. Like tossing away trash, Larry threw Soren to the ground.
Looking at the terrified generals, he coldly said, "Even though I've resigned, it doesn't mean you can mess with me. You should be ready for defeat since you sent troops."
"One more time, who ordered you?"
Larry's voice thundered through the wooden house, instilling immense fear in the generals.
