Chapter 398 Larry Begins to Lay Out the Plan
The news of the Eight Heavenly Dragons' betrayal from Southwild spread like wildfire, sweeping across the nation and even the world.
On all major social media platforms, people were buzzing about this shocking event.
These eight individuals were originally assassins that Larry had reformed, so naturally, Larry became the center of the discussion following their betrayal.
Surprisingly, the entire nation felt a deep sense of pity for Larry.
"If Larry had been born in ancient times, he would have been a legendary figure, expanding territories and leaving a lasting legacy!"
"It's a shame he's in this modern society with its rigid systems; a hero like him has no place to shine."
"Even the Eight Heavenly Dragons, whom he personally reformed, betrayed him. Larry must be heartbroken."
Such sentiments were everywhere online.
Larry spent his days in the hospital, engrossed in studying medical texts.
When he learned about the betrayal that evening, he merely smiled faintly, as if he had anticipated it.
"Honey, the Eight Heavenly Dragons have betrayed us!"
Chloe lay bored on the hospital bed.
Although Larry was always by her side in the hospital, he rarely spoke to her, making her feel incredibly lonely. Seeing the news alert on her phone, she couldn't help but exclaim, hoping to catch Larry's attention.
Larry slowly emerged from his meditative state, stood up, and stretched.
Meditation was indeed magical—he felt much more refreshed and less fatigued.
He glanced at Chloe holding her phone and nodded slightly. "I know. It's stuffy in here; I'm going for a walk."
With that, he left the room.
Larry headed straight to Howard's room.
Howard was severely injured, but after surgery, he was out of the critical phase.
Entering the room, Larry found Howard awake.
"Larry..." Howard called out weakly.
Larry waved his hand slightly, walked over, and took Howard's wrist, feeling his pulse. After assessing his condition, he spoke, "Your injuries aren't too serious. Just focus on recovering."
"Can I have a cigarette?"
Howard looked at Larry with pleading eyes, his craving for a smoke evident.
It had been days since he last had a cigarette.
Larry took out a cigarette, lit it, and handed it to him.
Howard took a deep drag, a look of satisfaction spreading across his face.
The nurse nearby wanted to intervene but didn't dare to speak up.
Larry chatted with Howard for a while before leaving.
Back in Chloe's room, she immediately looked at him eagerly. "Honey, where did you go? Can you talk to me?"
Although she had successfully kept Larry by her side, she could feel that his attitude towards her had drastically changed.
Larry used to be at her beck and call, but now it felt like only his body was present, while his heart was elsewhere.
"I'm very tired and don't want to talk."
Larry sat on the sofa in the room, speaking in a flat tone.
Hearing this, Chloe silently closed her mouth.
Larry leaned back on the sofa, closing his eyes to rest.
Alden had already left, and the Eight Heavenly Dragons had also left Southwild to find Alden, marking the official start of the plan. He needed to prepare, but he still didn't know enough about the situation in Sunset City.
After thinking for a while, he left the room and sat on a chair in the hallway, taking out his phone to call William.
"Come to the military hospital."
With that simple instruction, he hung up. William arrived quickly.
In less than an hour, he appeared at the military hospital, accompanied by his granddaughter Sarah.
"Larry," they both greeted in unison.
Larry waved his hand slightly, pointing to the chairs beside him. "Sit down."
Once they were seated, Larry asked directly, "What's the situation in Sunset City while I was away?"
"Larry, which aspect are you referring to?" William was unsure of Larry's specific inquiry.
"In terms of the power structure. What moves have the Business Growth Collective, Five-State Business Alliance, Prosperity Business Alliance, and the financial groups from Aurora Citadel made?"
William immediately began his report, "Since the Five-State Business Alliance repurchased NextGen City, they've been making significant moves, heavily promoting NextGen City. Many corporations have moved in, and it's become quite bustling over there."
"The Business Growth Collective hasn't been idle either. They've co-founded Helix BioPharma, aiming to compete with established pharmaceutical giants like Legion Lord, the Everlife Group, CloudPharma, and the Lirena Group."
"Aurora Citadel has also been active. The new community outside the city has started construction, with substantial funding speeding up the process. It's being built around the clock and should be completed before the end of the year."
Sarah added, "Recently, a new pharmaceutical company called 'VitaGen Medical' has been established in Sunset City."
"What?" Larry raised an eyebrow. "VitaGen Medical? What's their background?"
Sarah shook her head. "Not much is known about their background. But they've been making waves recently, launching several new drugs that have received widespread acclaim. VitaGen Medical has also gained significant fame on Medical Street, with many renowned doctors on their roster, including Cormac, who lost to you at the medical conference."
Larry understood.
If he guessed correctly, the person behind VitaGen Medical was Alistair.
Cormac had always worked for Alistair.
He knew Alistair's true goal—to use the Gu poison to control the world. This plan had started a century ago but had failed back then.
"I see. Go buy some of the new drugs VitaGen Medical has launched. I want to examine them myself," Larry instructed.
"Understood," William nodded.
Larry then turned to Sarah and said, "I need you to order a custom wheelchair for me."
"A wheelchair?" Sarah was taken aback, looking at Larry in confusion. "Larry, why do you need a wheelchair?"
"Just do it. Go ahead," Larry waved his hand, offering no further explanation.
"Yes," Sarah nodded, though still puzzled.
After they left, Larry rubbed his face and took a deep breath.
He then took out his phone and called Abigail, "Do you have time?"
"Yes, I do! What's up?" Abigail's voice sounded surprised. She hadn't expected Larry to contact her so soon.
"Come to the hospital. I need to discuss something with you."
"Okay, I'll be right there!"
Abigail, who had been lazily lying in bed, instantly became energized upon receiving Larry's call. She quickly got up, washed her face, changed clothes, and put on makeup, transforming from a lazy woman into a radiant beauty. She then drove straight to the military hospital.
However, she didn't go to the ward but called Larry from outside the hospital.
Larry also left the ward and met her outside.
In the hospital's outdoor seating area.
Seeing Larry approach, Abigail smiled brightly, gently brushing her hair off her shoulder. "What can I do for you?"
"I do have something," Larry said, sitting down on a bench.
Abigail sat down as well, curiously asking, "What is it?"
Larry looked directly into her eyes. "You have great skills, especially in business. I need you to start a pharmaceutical company."
"A pharmaceutical company?" Abigail was surprised.
"Yes," Larry nodded, explaining, "I've learned that a new company called VitaGen Medical has emerged in Sunset City, likely Alistair's doing. I don't know what he's planning, but Sunset City is Pharma City, and I urgently need a large amount of capital—wealth that rivals nations. Starting a pharmaceutical company is the fastest way to make money, and you're the most suitable person for the job."
Abigail frowned. "Larry, starting a company requires initial capital. I don't have that kind of money right now."
"I'll handle the funding," Larry rubbed his forehead, then looked at Abigail with a complex expression. "Actually, I hope you'll refuse."
Abigail was taken aback, then chuckled. "Why?"
Larry sighed deeply. "I don't want to owe you anything more, so I hope you'll refuse. But at the same time, I need your help because I have very few trustworthy people around me, let alone capable ones."
His words were filled with deep helplessness and contradiction.
Abigail looked at him quietly, a hint of pity flashing in her eyes.
