Chapter 94 NextGen City
The Lewis family was adamant about kicking Larry and Helen out.
Maria even took a broom and chased Larry and Helen out.
Outside the door, Helen looked at the scattered clothes on the ground and cried bitterly.
She cried and looked at Larry with an apologetic face. "Larry, I'm sorry, it's all my fault."
Larry waved his hand slightly.
It was just a small matter, and he didn't take it to heart.
He said, "Alright, don't blame yourself. It's not entirely your fault. The Lewis family has never liked me and has always been urging Chloe to divorce me. Chloe used to stand by me, but now with this incident, Chloe is also considering divorce."
Although it wasn't a big deal, it was indeed a hassle.
Helen said, "I'm really sorry. If you two really get divorced, I... I'll make it up to you with myself."
Larry impatiently glanced at her. "Alright, don't have such thoughts. My heart belongs to Chloe."
Larry knew Helen was saying these things because of what happened yesterday, thinking he was a big shot.
"I'm serious," Helen said, "You have no status in the Lewis family. Divorce might be good for you. I'm not worse than Chloe; I also have a good figure and looks."
Chloe came out, intending to return Larry's Black Dragon Card.
She opened the door just in time to hear this sentence.
She couldn't help but shed tears, but she forced herself to hold back her unhappiness, with a smile uglier than crying on her tear-streaked face. "Larry, here's your card back. Thank you for everything you've done for me, for taking such good care of me, and for everything you've done for the Lewis family. I wish you both eternal happiness."
She stuffed the card into Larry's hand, then covered her mouth and ran back into the house crying.
Larry wanted to explain a few things.
Chloe had already turned around and locked the door.
Larry helplessly put away the card.
Seeing the disappointment on his face, Helen knew that his heart was only for Chloe, and she knew she would never have a chance.
Helen comforted, "Larry, when Chloe calms down, you can come back and explain. She will forgive you."
Saying this, she bent down to pick up the clothes on the ground.
She stuffed them into the suitcase, dragged it, and waved goodbye to Larry standing at the door.
"Larry, thank you. Thank you for fulfilling my dream, for letting me take a photo with General Howard and the Free King, fulfilling my long-time wish," Helen said, carrying her suitcase and leaving.
Larry knew he couldn't get into the house today.
He planned to wait a few days, resolve the issues with the Four Great Families, and then explain to Chloe.
He left helplessly, caught up with Helen, and said, "Let me carry that for you."
He took the suitcase from Helen's hand.
"Thank you," Helen said softly.
The two got into the elevator together and went downstairs.
Outside the community, by the roadside, Larry asked, "Where are you going next?"
Helen's face showed confusion.
She came to Sunset City mainly because of the Free King's succession, hoping to develop in Sunset City and see if she could meet the Free King and take a photo with him.
Now, her dream had come true.
There was nothing much to linger for in Sunset City.
Helen thought for a moment and said, "Go home."
Larry said, "Didn't you ask me to help you find a job before? What can you do? Let me see if I can help you find a better job."
Late at night, he was also worried about Helen being alone outside.
Even if there was a misunderstanding, Helen was still Chloe's cousin.
If something happened to Helen, once Larry and Chloe's misunderstanding was resolved, Chloe would blame him.
Helen said, "I majored in economics in college. After graduation, I worked as an assistant to a CEO for three months. Because the CEO had ill intentions towards me, hinted at me several times, and even harassed me privately, I resigned."
Hearing this, Larry said, "How about this? I happen to know the person in charge of recruitment at the Trade Center. I'll give her a call, and you can work there."
Helen was stunned and then exclaimed, "Really?"
Larry smiled faintly.
Then, he took out his phone and called Sue, "Where are you?"
It was almost 9:00 p.m. now.
The Trade Center had already started external recruitment. Sue didn't understand much about it, so she hired a lot of people. They were currently having a meeting at the company headquarters to discuss the follow-up recruitment.
When Larry called, Sue immediately stopped the meeting.
She said, "Still at the company, Mr. Bennett, what's up?"
Larry said, "I have a friend who is temporarily out of work. Can you see if you can arrange a job for her?"
"Mr. Bennett, where are you? I'll send someone to pick you up right away. I can't leave the meeting right now."
"No need, I'll take a cab over," Larry said and then hung up.
Helen looked at Larry and couldn't help but ask, "Larry, who did you call?"
Larry smiled mysteriously and said, "Let's go, we'll take a cab to the Trade Center. I'll introduce you to the job, but don't let it slip out, especially not in front of Chloe."
Helen kept nodding her head.
Larry took a cab to the Trade Center.
This place was located in the center of Sunset City, and the Trade Center was newly built.
The central area of the Trade Center consisted of several dozen-story buildings, surrounding it were pedestrian streets, food streets, commercial streets, and antique streets, gathering all aspects of life. Nearby, there were also villas and high-end residential communities.
All of this combined to form a new era Trade Center.
There was a 180-story building in the middle of the Trade Center.
This building was also the tallest in the Trade Center, known as the Epoch Tower, and this area was also referred to as the Epoch Financial Center.
After getting out of the cab, Helen looked at the buildings, her face dazed. "Larry, this is the Epoch Center. In the future, this place will become the most prosperous area in the country, gathering all major enterprises. Larry, now that the major companies haven't moved in yet, what job are you bringing me to find?"
The next moment, she exclaimed, "Could it be the newly established Epoch Group, the leader of the Epoch Financial Center?"
Larry smiled faintly and didn't say much.
He had secretly bought this new place, but he hadn't been here yet.
The white glowing letters at the top of the 180-story building in the center was the Epoch Tower.
"Let's go." Larry led Helen over.
Sue received Larry's call, immediately stopped the meeting, and brought some high-level executives from the Epoch Group downstairs, quietly waiting for his arrival.
Outside the Epoch Tower, more than twenty people had gathered.
These people were all social elites, high-level business professionals Sue had hired from abroad.
Sue said to everyone, "In a moment, the real boss of the Epoch Group will come to inspect the work. You must be careful and not offend the chairman."
"Yes," Everyone responded.
At this moment, they were all looking forward to meeting the mysterious big boss who bought the entire new city and created the Epoch Group.
Investing billions of dollars, what kind of financial power was that?
Who had such capability in the world?
Who could come up with such a huge amount of money? These were their doubts
They were about to meet the man who had been the talk of the town recently. They were both excited and nervous.
Before long, a man and a woman walked over.
Larry was dressed very ordinarily, carrying a suitcase in his hand, while Helen was somewhat attractive.
Helen saw the more than twenty social elites in suits, ties, and professional attire standing outside the building and was slightly dazed.
She thought, 'Am I really coming to the Epoch Group?'
"He's here, the chairman is here," Sue said.
"Welcome." A loud and orderly voice came.
The eyes of more than twenty business elites all focused on Larry.
They thought, 'This is the man who bought NextGen City?'
Helen was completely dumbfounded.
She thought, 'The one who bought NextGen City is Larry?'
