Chapter 87 The Most Admired Black Dragon
Helen also didn't know how Larry knew General Howard.
Elijah? Friends from the orphanage?
"Larry, be honest with me, what's your relationship with Mr. Cruz?" Helen asked.
Larry, while eating, said, "What Mr. Cruz? I don't know him. That was just a childhood friend I hadn't seen in years. We ran into each other and decided to have a meal together. Is he a general now?"
"Don't you really know?" Helen found it hard to believe Larry.
Howard seemed to follow Larry's lead and act according to his expressions.
Larry said, "I don't know. I haven't seen him in over ten years. I joined the army in Southwild back then, and this Howard... no, his name is Elijah. He seemed to have joined the army in the Western Territory. He never told me he's a general now."
He put down his cutlery, looked at Helen, and asked, "Is he really a general?"
"Yes, the Free King's succession ceremony has been replaying these past few days. Haven't you seen it?"
"Oh my God..." Larry exclaimed, "Is Elijah so impressive now? Back then, Elijah was my subordinate. No way, I need to get him back and curry favor with him. I don't have his number. What should I do? I've missed a chance to elevate my status and wealth."
He looked regretful.
Now, Robert finally understood what was going on.
He understood why Larry could have a meal with General Howard.
He thought, 'It turns out Howard used to be called Elijah and knows Larry from childhood. But that was all in the past.
'Now Howard is a general, having a meal together is just for old times' sake. As a general, he wouldn't bother with Larry anymore.'
Robert immediately raised his head and said, "Helen, the White family is also a big family and knows Mr. Cruz. My family often asks Mr. Cruz for favors."
He started bragging again.
He boasted about how impressive his family was and how much money his factory made each year in front of Helen.
Hearing this, Helen felt a bit disgusted.
However, having money was indeed something to brag about.
Compared to their peers, Robert was indeed successful.
At least more so than Larry.
She glanced at Larry.
He became the Lewis family's son-in-law but didn't work and kept spending the Lewis family's money. He was truly a useless waste.
However, knowing he had served in the army and knew Howard, Helen's opinion of him changed quite a bit.
"I've finished eating." Larry picked up a napkin and wiped his mouth.
At this moment, he suddenly remembered that Howard had left.
So, he glanced at Robert, who was still bragging, and smiled. "Robert, since you're so wealthy, why don't you cover this meal?"
Saying this, he pulled Helen. "Helen, Chloe asked me to bring you back safely. We've eaten, so let's go."
Helen nodded.
"Larry, what are you doing?" Robert suddenly shouted.
It was hard enough to get Helen to come to Sunset City and have a meal together. He couldn't let Helen go back so easily.
Robert was planning to take Helen to his factory to show off and make her admire him.
Larry raised an eyebrow and said, "What?"
Robert pointed at Larry's hand and shouted, "Let go of my girlfriend."
Larry looked at Helen.
Helen glanced at Robert with dissatisfaction on her face. "Robert, when did I agree to be your girlfriend?"
Robert immediately softened. "Helen, I'm in such good condition. What are you hesitating for? If you become my girlfriend, you won't have to work anymore. You'll have everything you need and can buy whatever you want. Isn't that good?"
"No," Helen said, "I can earn my own money."
After saying that, she turned and left.
Larry followed closely behind and said as he left, "Remember to pay the bill."
"Damn it." Robert clenched his fists in anger, a sullen look flashing across his rather handsome face.
He said, "Larry, you bastard, just you wait."
Larry had ruined his plans, and he now held a grudge against Larry.
Larry took Helen out of Pavilion Restaurant, put the suitcase in the trunk, and drove towards Chloe's home.
Helen sat in the passenger seat, holding her phone, scrolling through photos with Howard, and giggling.
Larry couldn't help but say, "It's just a few photos, no need to be like that."
"What do you know?" Helen rolled her eyes at Larry. "Mr. Cruz is my idol, and the Free King is even more so. I've always dreamed of taking a photo with them, and now my wish has finally come true."
"But..." She changed her tone, looked at Larry who was driving, and said, "My biggest idol is still Southwild's Black Dragon. You said you served in the army. Have you seen Black Dragon? Do you know what he looks like?"
"Of course," Larry said proudly, "No one knows Black Dragon better than I do."
"Really?" Helen was delighted and asked, "Is Black Dragon tall or short? Fat or thin? What's his personality like? Is he married?"
She asked several questions in one breath.
She knew about Black Dragon and his most famous battle.
That battle made everyone aware of Black Dragon's reputation.
Any military enthusiastknew that.
However, what Black Dragon looked like was a mystery to most. Because after he was appointed commander, it became classified information. Only the top brass in the military knew. Even if a few photos had leaked, only the true elite families of Aurora Citadel had access to them. Ordinary families had no chance of seeing them.
Larry laughed. "I can tell you for sure, Black Dragon is already married. You have no chance in this lifetime."
Helen looked disappointed.
Then, the disappointment on her face faded, and she glanced at Larry. "You're just bragging. I've heard that you served for ten years but were just a low-ranking soldier. Southwild has a million Black Dragon Army soldiers. You probably weren't even qualified to be one of them, let alone know Black Dragon. You probably haven't even seen him."
Larry smiled and didn't say more. Because even if he told Helen that he was Black Dragon, she wouldn't believe it and might even call him a fool.
Helen sighed deeply. "Black Dragon, my idol. Over a year ago, he charged into the enemy camp alone, causing rivers of blood, and returned with the enemy commander's head. That marked the perfect end to his legendary life."
"Didn't expect a civilian like you to know so much," Larry said.
"Of course," Helen said proudly, "I'm a dedicated military enthusiast."
Then, her face showed disappointment again. "I don't know if I'll ever get to see Black Dragon in this lifetime. If I get the chance, I definitely want to visit Southwild. For now, I'll just stay in Sunset City and see if I can meet the Free King.
"By the way..." She suddenly had an idea. "Larry, you knew Howard from childhood. Even though he's now a general and at the top, if you ask him for a favor, he might agree. Can you help me? I want to take a photo with the Free King."
Her face showed a pleading expression.
Larry glanced at Helen.
Actually, he had some fondness for Helen, mainly because she admired soldiers.
She was better than those women who only liked money. And Helen just wanted a photo with the Free King, not to marry a general or anything.
He said, "Helen, I can help you with that, but you have to promise not to tell Chloe. If you can do that, I'll take you to meet the Free King."
