Chapter 179 Chloe's Thoughts
Larry had already left, but the scene remained eerily silent.Only Quinlan lay on the ground, screaming in pain.
After a long while, gasps began to fill the air.
Who was Quinlan?He was the highly-skilled head instructor of the Thunderbolt Elite, responsible for training the renowned Thunderbolt Elite of Neon City.
He had led the Thunderbolt Elite on countless dangerous missions, yet even he was defeated in just one move.
Somebody asked, "Did you see clearly?"
Another chimed in, "How did the Black Dragon Commander act?"
One answered, "It seemed like he just punched to Instructor Quinlan's chest."
Many discussions echoed around, but Larry paid little attention.He was just there to make an appearance.
After driving away, he messaged to Neil, instructing him to inform the Neon City military district that his identity was top secret, so everyone would need to sign a confidentiality agreement. Any unauthorized disclosure would be dealt with under military law.
Uponreceiving the message, Neil stepped forward, looked at the hundreds of elite soldiers selected from various units, and announced loudly, "You have seen the Black Dragon Commander. His identity is classified. What you saw and heard today must not be disclosed, or you will punished by military law. Got it?"
"Yes, sir," a loud and orderly response came.
Larry drove back to the Martin family residence.The round trip took less than two hours so Chloe and the others had not yet returned
The Martin family members didn't welcome him either. They regarded him with a stern expression. Unfazed, Larry settled at the door and began playing games on his phone.
Soon it was noon when Chloe and the others had returned.
And just before mealtime, Cormac also arrived shortly after.
In the Martin family hall, a group of younger family members surrounded Cormac, eagerly asking questions..
Someone from the family asked, "Cormac, how was it? Did you see the Black Dragon Commander?"
Another questioned, "What does the Black Dragon look like?"
One more added, "How old is the Commander? Is he handsome?"
Faced with the barrage of inquiries, Cormac couldn't help but look at Larry, who was still sitting on the sofa playing with his phone. He took a deep breath as he realized the truth; who would have thought that Larry was the Black Dragon?
Now he finally understood that Neil wasn't here for Chloe, but for Larry.
He also grasped that it was Larry’s high status that elevated Chloe’s standing in Sunset City.
Furthermore, he recognized that it was because of the Black Dragon that he had been promoted to the military district.
Although he couldn't yet serve directly under Neil, Cormac felt optimistic about his future.
He wanted to share his thoughts, but having signed the confidentiality agreement, he knew he couldn’t reveal the Black Dragon’s identity.
"I signed a confidentiality agreement, so I can't disclose the Black Dragon Commander's identity. But I can tell you for sure that Commander is very handsome, about my age, and more importantly, he's already married. So don't have any girlish fantasies."
One of them remarked, "Married?"
Another asked, "Who is so lucky to marry the Black Dragon?"
Someone whined, "My youth is gone."
Many girls from the Martin family wailed.
Chloe was also very interested in the Black Dragon. She looked at Cormac and asked, "Can you tell me what the Black Dragon Commander look like?"
Cormac glanced at Chloe, surprised that Larry hadn’t told her.
"I really can't say," he replied.
Hearing this, Chloe looked disappointed.
Larry remained calm as they had lunch at the Martin family home. After the meal, Chloe's family began to leave.
Outside the Martins courtyard, many members of the family stood watching as Larry and the others departed.
Helen pulled Cormac aside and whispered, "Cormac, did you really see the Black Dragon?"
"Helen, don't ask me. I know you admire the Black Dragon, but I've signed a confidentiality agreement," Cormac said hesitantly.
Helen pouted and said, "I don't care if you can speak or not. I just want to know if you really saw him."
"Of course," Cormac replied, taking a deep breath. "You didn't see how strong the Black Dragon Commander is. Quinlan, the strongest in the Neon City military district, was taken down in one move."
Thinking of that scene, Cormac still felt a rush of excitement.
Hearing this, Helen was sure that Cormac had indeed seen Larry.She couldn't help but take a deep breath.She had known Larry's identity for a while but couldn't say anything.
Now that someone else in the Martin family knew Larry's secret, she could finally talk to Cormac about him.
Helen revealed, "Cormac, actually, I've known Larry's identity for a long time. He's not only the Black Dragon Commander of Southwild but also the secret owner of the Epoch Financial Center in Sunset City. The reason I got a job at the Epoch Group was all arranged by Larry."
Cormac's mouth dropped open in surprise."You knew all along?"
Helen made a shushing gesture and whispered, "Keep your voice down. Do you want everyone to know?"
Cormac immediately shut his mouth.He glanced around and, seeing no one nearby, whispered, "Helen, why is Larry hiding his identity to get close to Chloe? What is he up to?"
Helen said, "You might not know Larry's another identity. He was part of the Bennett Family ten years ago, and Chloe rushed into a fire to save him. He's probably repaying her for saving his life."
Helen looked envious.Chloe was truly the luckiest woman in the world.She had someone standing behind her who was at the peak of power and wealth.
Cormac asked, "Even so, there's no need to hide his identity, right?"
Helen shook her head and said, "Maybe Larry has his own ideas."
The two continued to talk quietly about Larry.
Meanwhile, Larry had already driven away.
Chloe sat in the passenger seat, looking distracted.
Larry asked gently, "Honey, what's wrong? You seem down."
Chloe snapped out of it and said, "It's nothing. Just focus on driving."
"Okay, as you wish," Larry replied, focused on driving and didn't ask further.
They soon returned to Sunset City, but Chloe didn’t go home. Instead, she got out of the car and told Larry to head back alone.
Larry said nothing and drove home alone by himself.
After getting out of the car, Chloe took a cab to The Serpent Group.
The mysterious Mr. Bennett had helped her so much; she had to thank him in person and make it clear that she didn’t want his assistance in secret anymore. She felt unworthy of his help.
Chloe soon arrived at The Serpent Group, where William greeted her.
In The Serpent Group's reception room, William asked, "Chloe, is there something you need?"
Chloe sat on the sofa, feeling a bit nervous. She looked at William and whispered, "Is the chairman here? I'd like to see him."
William replied respectfully, "Chloe, the chairman is not here. You can tell me if you have something important, and I'll convey it to him."
"Nothing wrong," Chloe said, standing up to leave.
As soon as she left, William notified Larry.
At this moment, Larry had already arrived home.Sam's family had gone to the large villa in Scenic Villas, so Larry was home alone.
Larry sat on the sofa and saw the message from William.
He thought, 'So Chloe didn't come home because she went to see the mysterious Mr. Bennett. It seems this mysterious Mr. Bennett is becoming more important to her.'
This made sense.
It was understandable that Chloe was into Mr. Bennett because she she believed he was behind all her opportunities.
"What a hassle," Larry muttered, gently massaging his temples.
He could only blame Chloe’s beauty; any man would be captivated by her, which led to all these complications.
He thought for a moment and immediately called William.
Larry instructed, "William, prepare a brand-new phone for me and inform Chloe to meet tonight."
After giving the instructions, Larry hung up.
Then he called Frank and instructed, "Frank, prepare some materials for me."
He listed the materials he needed.
"Larry, you want to make a human skin mask? What's your plan?" Frank immediately knew what Larry wanted a mask upon hearing the materials.
