Chapter 55 Divorcing Larry
Sam was forcibly taken away, and the Lewis family was in a panic. Because Sam was taken away right in front of the police, and the police didn't intervene.
They weren't stupid; anyone driving a million-dollar car had to be a big shot.
Mindy grabbed Chloe, pleading, "Chloe, only you can save Sam now. Don't you know Leo? Call him quickly."
"I'll try." Chloe was also feeling confident.
Now that Sam had been taken away, the situation was dire, and she had no choice but to call.
She called Leo, but the call couldn't get through.
She said, "I can't get through."
"Then, what should we do?" Mindy was almost in tears, her voice trembling. "What about Larry? He was in the military, and he said he knows some big shots. Call him quickly!"
"I already did. He's on his way."
Meanwhile, Maria remained calm and said, "Larry won't be of any use. Don't listen to his bragging. If he really knew any big shots, he wouldn't be broke and powerless, and he wouldn't have married into the Lewis family."
Mindy cried, "Mom, what should we do then?"
Maria thought for a moment and said, "I'll call Mr. Anderson. The Anderson family is just below the Four Great Families. Last time, I talked to Mr. Anderson about introducing my daughter to him, but because Chloe's face was scarred by Frederick, it was put on hold."
Ever since Chloe's face had healed, Maria had been contacting wealthy families, trying to find a good husband for her.
And Ivan Anderson from the Anderson family was her ideal son-in-law.
It was only because of various incidents that she hadn't contacted Ivan.
She immediately called Ivan and briefly explained the situation.
"I'm nearby. I'll be right over." Ivan was dining at a restaurant near Skyline Road. After receiving Maria's call, he immediately drove over.
In less than ten minutes, he arrived, driving a million-dollar Porsche supercar.
He parked, got out, and saw the Lewis family members by the roadside, and then he saw Chloe.
His eyes lit up.
He walked over. "Maria, Chloe..."
He greeted them warmly.
Seeing Ivan, Maria felt like she had grasped a lifeline. "Mr. Anderson, you must help us. Sam crashed into a luxury car, and the owner is demanding a million dollars. If we don't pay, they'll kill Sam."
Ivan confidently assured, "Maria, don't worry. Leave this to me. The Anderson family is a top-tier family in Sunset City, just below the Four Great Families. I know all the big shots in Sunset City."
"Alright, let's go to The Majestic Union."
Ivan was momentarily stunned.
The Majestic Union?
Jacob's territory?
He tentatively asked, "Maria, what kind of car did Sam crash into?"
"It seemed to be some limited edition Maybach." Upon hearing this, Ivan took a few steps back.
Then he asked, "Was the guy a bit chubby and dressed rather plainly?"
"Yes, exactly."
'Oh my God,' Ivan exclaimed in his mind.
Jacob was the underground emperor of Sunset City, once known as Black Wind. He been running legitimate businesses now. He was now very low-key; as long as one didn't provoke him, there was no trouble. But if one did provoke him, the consequences would be imaginable.
Ivan took a deep breath. He glanced at Chloe and couldn't help but swallow. "Maria, I can help you with this, but Jacob is not someone to mess with. I'll need my dad's help; he has some connections with Jacob. But, I can't help for free. You mentioned last time about introducing Chloe to me, so..."
For the sake of her son, Maria couldn't care less about anything else. "Mr. Anderson, don't worry, Chloe will divorce Larry soon."
Although Sam was not capable, he was still her son, and she couldn't just watch something bad happen to him.
Moreover, Larry was just a soldier. Even though he claimed to know some big shots, knowing big shots and being a big shot were two different things, and she chose the latter.
Ivan was from the Anderson family, a family with a vast business empire worth billions of dollars.
Chloe marrying into the Anderson family was much better than staying with Larry.
"Chloe, what do you think?" Ivan looked at Chloe.
Jacob was indeed terrifying.
The Anderson family was nothing compared to him. He was a true big shot who didn't care about competing for the title of a wealthy family.
However, his dad did have some connections with Jacob; they had dined together.
And this wasn't a big deal, just a rear-end collision.
As long as his dad stepped in to help and paid some money, the matter would be resolved.
Spending a few hundred thousand dollars for Chloe was worth it.
Chloe said, "Mom, I won't divorce Larry."
Maria raised her hand and slapped her, shouting, "Not divorcing? Then you can't come up with a million dollars to save your brother."
A slap mark appeared on Chloe's face. She covered her face with her hand, tears welling up in her eyes.
Ivan said, "Chloe, do you know who Jacob is? Do you know what he did in the past? He killed many people; he's a very ruthless person."
Hearing this, Chloe was also scared.
Ivan looked at her graceful figure and beautiful face, swallowing hard.
He continued, "Do you really think giving a million dollars will save him? Let me tell you the truth, even if Jacob gets the money, he won't let Sam go. Those who offend him never have a good ending."
Maria urged, "Chloe, if not for yourself, think about your brother.
"Do you want me to kneel before you?" As she spoke, she was about to kneel.
"Mom..." Chloe quickly supported Maria, who was about to kneel, tears streaming down her face. "Mom, I'll divorce Larry. Don't do this."
Ivan's face lit up with joy.
Maria said that if the Lewis family brought a million dollars to The Majestic Union, Jacob would release Sam.
Ivan knew Jacob.
He was a man of his word.
And he had been very low-key in recent years, not causing trouble.
As long as the money was delivered, Sam would be fine.
Moreover, he was from the Anderson family.
His dad had some connections with Jacob. If his dad stepped in to help, it wouldn't cost that much.

He said, "Maria, Chloe, leave this to me. I have some money in my account. You go home and wait. I'll go redeem him. With the Anderson family's connections, once the money is paid, Jacob won't trouble Sam."
Maria pleaded, "Mr. Anderson, can we go with you?"
She had seen Jacob beating people and was very worried about Sam.
Ivan confidently assured, "Maria, just go home and wait. Leave this to me."
Ivan glanced at the despondent Chloe and smiled. "Chloe, once I bring Sam back, shall we have dinner together?"
"Yes, Chloe will wait for you," Maria answered for Chloe.
Chloe stood aside, silently shedding tears.
She took out her phone and called Larry, "Larry, the matter is resolved. Go back home and wait for me. I have something to discuss with you."
After saying that, she hung up.
Larry was already on his way, taking a cab, but there was some traffic, causing a delay.
Now, after receiving Chloe's call, he sighed in relief and instructed the driver to turn back.
