Chapter 424 Action Begins

"I've always misunderstood him."

Melanie stared at the grave, her face etched with sorrow. "I always thought he was just trouble. Growing up, I never even mentioned my dad to anyone because I was scared they'd laugh at me. But... I never imagined he was a hero."

Tears began to fill her eyes as she spoke.

When she discovered at the Sunset City Medical Conference that Larry was the Black Dragon, she was ecstatic.

Because he was her dad's superior.

That's why she risked everything to help Larry.

Even knowing she might die.

She had planned to ask Larry about her dad after the conference.

But Larry left before it ended.

"Can you tell me about him?"

"Sure thing." Larry nodded.

Standing by the grave, he shared some stories about Anson.

Frank chimed in, "I remember one time, we were having drinks, and he mentioned he had a daughter. He said he felt guilty about not being there for her. That night, he got drunk and cried his eyes out. I'd never seen him like that before."

Listening to these stories, Melanie also cried.

Larry gently patted her shoulder, trying to comfort her, "Be proud. Having a father like him is something to be proud of."

Melanie wiped her tears, looked at the three men in front of her, and said, "Thank you. Thank you for telling me all this."

"The wind's picking up, and it's starting to rain. Let's head back," Larry suggested.

"Okay."

After a simple memorial, Larry and the others headed back.

Melanie also went to Southwild.

Larry asked, "What are your plans now?"

Melanie replied, "I'll stay a few more days, then head back to Aurora Citadel."

Larry said, "If you need any help, just ask. As long as it's within my power, I'll do my best."

"Thank you." Melanie waved slightly, "Goodbye for now."

"Goodbye."

Larry nodded and got into the car.

Frank drove them back to Southwild.

Once back, Larry stayed at Black Dragon Mansion.

Frank stayed there too.

Evening came quickly.

"Boss, we're ready. When do we move out?"

Larry checked the time. It was just past five in the afternoon. He said, "No rush. We'll move out after dark."

"Got it."

Meanwhile, at the military district.

Valerian was waiting with a thousand Black Dragon Army soldiers.

They were all dressed in black combat uniforms, fully armed.

Idris approached, saw Valerian, and asked, "What's going on? Is there a mission?"

Valerian stood straight, saluted, and replied, "General, I'm not sure. I'm just following orders to wait here."

Idris didn't ask further and walked away.

After walking a distance, he turned back to look at the thousand Black Dragon Army soldiers, puzzled.

"Is there a mission? What kind of mission?"

He was confused.

He was a one-star general, yet he didn't know about this mission.

Back in his office, he thought for a long time before picking up the phone and dialing a number.

"Boss, Larry's back. He has a direct order from the King to continue leading the Black Dragon Army. He's gathered a thousand soldiers, and it seems like there's a mission, but I don't know what it is."

"Got it."

A raspy voice came through the phone.

Meanwhile, in Aurora Citadel.

Alistair sat on the couch, put down his phone, and looked at the people across from him. "I just got word that Larry's back in Southwild, continuing to lead the Black Dragon Army."

Across from him were Alfonso and Dr. C.

Hearing this, both frowned.

Alfonso said gravely, "King gave Larry a direct order to return to Southwild and continue leading the Black Dragon Army. This is strange. I'll head back and figure out what King is planning. Stay cautious."

Alfonso stood up and left.

Dr. C, puffing on a cigarette, glanced at Alistair, "I think things are about to get messy. King might be planning something against you. You should find a way to protect yourself."

"That's impossible," Alistair shook his head. "I'm the top of the Five Commanders, the Supreme Commander of the Legion of Flame Surge. King has no reason to target me."

"Larry's return to Southwild is a signal. Just be careful."

Dr. C finished speaking and left the room.

Alistair's face darkened.

He clutched his chest, cursing, "Larry, I never thought you'd come back."

Larry's needle had almost killed him.

If it weren't for Dr. C's timely rescue, he would be dead.

And because of Larry, his years of planning were ruined.

Alfonso and Dr. C's warnings had sounded an alarm for him.

Larry's return to Southwild to continue as Dragon King was extremely disadvantageous for him.

King might indeed make a move against him.

He picked up the phone and dialed a number, "Keep an eye on Larry. Inform me immediately of any movement."

"Yes." A voice came through the phone.

Alistair hung up and tossed the phone aside, clutching his chest and leaning back on the couch, his face showing pain.

After thinking for a while, he still felt uneasy.

He picked up the phone again and called Sirius.

"Alistair, what's up?"

"Sirius, can't I call you just to chat? I've got some good wine at home. Come over tonight for a drink."

Sirius was a direct descendant of the Bennett family, holding a high position within the family.

And the Bennett family was the head of the Four Ancient Families.

Alistair needed to find out more about the current situation from Sirius.

Meanwhile, in Southwild.

Larry waited at Black Dragon Mansion until nightfall.

Then he got up and went out.

At the military district.

Valerian and the thousand Black Dragon Army soldiers had been waiting for a long time.

At that moment, two figures approached.

It was Larry and Frank.

Near the thousand Black Dragon Army soldiers, helicopters were ready.

Larry arrived and gave the order, "Move out."

Valerian immediately shouted, "Left turn, march!"

The thousand Black Dragon Army soldiers quickly jogged to the helicopters.

The helicopters took off slowly and soon disappeared into the sky.

Idris had been monitoring Larry and the thousand Black Dragon Army soldiers. Seeing the helicopters take off, he made a call.

"Boss, Larry has left the Southwild military district with a thousand Black Dragon Army soldiers. Destination unknown."

"Got it."

On the helicopter.

Larry closed his eyes to rest.

Frank asked, "Dragon King, if Alistair dies, the Legion of Flame Surge will be without a commander. Who do you think will take his place?"

Frank was also curious about this.

Larry shook his head slightly, "I don't know. I just hope we can successfully kill Alistair tonight without any mishaps."

Larry had a bad feeling.

He felt something might go wrong.

But he couldn't pinpoint what.

"Hopefully, I'm just overthinking."

Larry took a deep breath and stopped worrying.
