Chapter 402 Sensible Girl

The living room was now empty except for Larry and Trinity.

Facing this young, innocent girl in the prime of her youth, Larry was at a loss for words.

Everything that had happened between them stemmed from a misunderstanding, a carefully orchestrated trap.

As a man, morally, he should take responsibility for Trinity.

But his current situation was too complicated, the burdens he carried too heavy, making it impossible to fulfill any promises to her.

Any promise he made now would only harm her, wasting her youth.

Larry looked at the girl nervously, wringing her hands, a deep sense of helplessness on his face. "You know my situation. It's not that I don't want to take responsibility, but I have too much going on right now, and my health isn't good. I don't know how much longer I have..."

Before he could finish, Trinity interrupted him.

"Larry, I know, I understand." Trinity looked up, her eyes shining with determination. "I didn't want to come to you, but I couldn't control my heart. You're a national hero, admired by women everywhere. I don't expect any title; I just want to stay by your side and take care of you for a while. At least let my life have no regrets, so I won't look back with sorrow."

Larry was taken aback by her maturity despite her young age.

"Even if I can only watch you from afar, I'll be content." Trinity's voice was as light as a feather.

Larry rubbed his forehead in frustration, feeling an unprecedented pressure.

The living room fell into a suffocating silence.

Abigail had been pacing by the door, occasionally peeking inside.

Seeing the two of them silent, she walked in and sat down.

"So, what have you decided?" Abigail asked, looking at Larry.

Larry sighed deeply. "The last incident was entirely my fault. If I had been more careful, I wouldn't have fallen into Cormac's trap, and none of this would have happened. Ultimately, it's my fault. Trinity is innocent, and I owe her an apology."

"Larry, I'm not forcing you to take responsibility. I just..." Trinity hurriedly tried to explain.

But the more she explained, the more it seemed like she was pressuring Larry.

She just wanted to stay by Larry's side, even without any official status. Just being able to see him would bring her peace.

That's all she wanted.

Abigail felt sorry for Trinity, who had gone through so much at such a young age.

In reality, relationships are complicated. It's not always necessary to be together just because something happened between them.

"Why not let her stay with you?" Abigail suggested, looking at both of them. "You have a custom wheelchair now, and you need someone to help with your daily needs."

Larry rolled his eyes, thinking Abigail's idea was terrible.

Chloe was still in the hospital, and he had promised to remarry her.

And Chloe knew about Trinity.

If he kept Trinity around, who knew what kind of trouble Chloe might cause.

"I... I just want to stay and take care of you, Larry. Please," Trinity pleaded, her face full of hope.

"Alright... alright."

Larry had no choice but to agree temporarily. He was worried that if he didn't, Trinity might do something extreme like Chloe had, and he would regret it.

"Dinner's ready!"

Esmeralda's cheerful voice came from the dining room.

The group got up and headed to the dining room.

After dinner at Esmeralda's house, Larry returned to the hospital.

He had agreed to let Trinity stay, and she willingly took on the task of pushing his wheelchair.

Although Larry could walk normally now, he planned to use the wheelchair in public for a while. This way, he could deceive many people into thinking he was truly incapacitated and near death.

Military Hospital.

Chloe lay bored on her hospital bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.

The door opened, and a young girl pushed Larry inside.

Chloe's eyes lit up with joy, and she smiled brightly. "Honey, you're back!"

"Yeah." Larry, sitting in the wheelchair, nodded.

"Who... who is she?"

Chloe noticed Trinity pushing the wheelchair and frowned.

Before Larry could speak, Trinity quickly jumped in, "Hi, I'm Trinity, Larry's caregiver. He needs a wheelchair to get around."

"Oh, I see," Chloe replied, not thinking much of it.

She knew Larry had been involved with another woman recently, but didn't know the details. Larry had said it was a misunderstanding, so she hadn't pursued it.

She never imagined that the innocent-looking girl before her was that woman.

Larry felt a pang of guilt; his emotions were in turmoil.

He had expected Trinity to say something to stir up trouble between him and Chloe, but she had been so understanding.

He sighed deeply.

Such a good girl, and he had wronged her so much.

He didn't know how many innocent women he would let down in his lifetime.

Fate had been unfair to Trinity.

In truth, he had been unfair to her.

If he had been more responsible and committed from the start, Trinity wouldn't be in this situation.

Thinking about these complex issues gave Larry a splitting headache, and he couldn't help but groan in pain.

Abigail had already informed Trinity about Larry's health condition in detail.

She immediately realized Larry was having another headache and quickly said, "Larry, Abigail said you shouldn't overthink things. Are you lost in thought again?"

As she spoke, she gently massaged Larry's forehead.

Larry waved her off slightly. "I'm fine."

He stood up and moved to the sofa in the room, leaning back to rest.

For the next two weeks, Larry stayed in the hospital.

He spent his time studying medical texts and meditating.

Meditation was the first step in cultivating Qi.

Only through meditation could one sense the presence of Qi within.

Once Qi was sensed, it could be controlled.

Controlling Qi allowed it to be harnessed and cultivated into true Qi.

This was an extremely complex process.

Most people couldn't achieve this level in a lifetime.

But Larry's physique was extraordinary. He had already reached the peak of martial prowess, his body brimming with energy. Thus, he could more easily sense and control his Qi.

Two weeks passed in the blink of an eye.

Chloe's injuries had gradually healed, and it was time for her to be discharged.

During these two weeks of intense training, Larry had finally managed to gather a faint amount of Qi. Though not yet powerful, it was a crucial first step.

He had also grasped most of the content in the second volume of the medical text. He now fully understood the true secrets of the Against Heaven 81 Needles technique, but to fully unleash its power required a deep reservoir of Qi.

Meanwhile, in Aurora Citadel.

Alistair lounged on a leather sofa.

A stunning woman in her thirties stood before him, reporting on her work.

After listening, Alistair asked, "How's the progress with VitaGen Medical?"

The woman respectfully replied, "We've launched several new drugs, and the market response has been very positive. However, we're just starting, and there are many established pharmaceutical companies in the country. It will take time to gain significant market share."

"We don't have time to take it slow." Alistair's face darkened, his tone stern. "We need to speed up!"

"Yes, sir!" The woman quickly responded, then added, "By the way, a new pharmaceutical company has emerged in Sunset City recently."

"Oh?"

Alistair raised an eyebrow. "What's their background?"

"The company is called PaxGen Pharmaceuticals, registered by Abigail, with a capital of one hundred billion dollars." The woman reported in detail.

"Abigail?"

Alistair frowned in thought, then asked, "What's Larry's current situation?"

"Larry has been recuperating at the military hospital. He seems to be getting weaker, needing a wheelchair to get around."

"Got it. You can go now." Alistair waved her off.

"Yes, sir."

The woman respectfully left the room.

Alistair leaned back on the sofa, murmuring to himself, "Abigail... a hundred billion dollars... PaxGen Pharmaceuticals... How is this connected to Larry?"

A dangerous glint flashed in his eyes.
