Chapter 248 Victor Kneels
The Lewis Family, all twenty-something of 'em, got booted out by security, cussing Larry up and down.
"Grandpa, I told ya, Larry did this on purpose. He said everything was set up, but he clearly wanted to embarrass us."
"Yeah, now I get it when he said even family can't be trusted. Dude's not gonna help us."
Luke trailed behind them. As Julia's ex, he didn't really wanna mess with them at first.
But now, it was his ticket to get in good with the Martinez and Carter Families. The Foster Family's future was riding on this.
He strutted out with a hot chick on his arm, looked at them, and laughed, "Victor, didn't see this coming, huh? I've always hated you guys who want respect without cash. Now you're getting what you deserve."
"Luke, don't push it."
Jack's youngest, Tiberius Lewis, stood up and yelled, "When you were with Julia, we treated you well. We didn't say squat when you bailed on her during the tough times. But why keep screwing us over?"
"Treat me well? That's a joke."
Luke laughed, "You only respected me 'cause I'm from the Foster Family. If I was broke, would the Lewis Family treat me like this? Would Julia even be my girl?"
Luke's words dripped with sarcasm, "You only cared 'cause I had money. The whole Lewis Family is a bunch of gold-diggers."
Tiberius couldn't take it anymore. He lunged and socked Luke right in the nose.
Pain shot through Luke's body, blood gushing out.
Luke clutched his nose, his hand turning red. He looked furious and roared, "Tiberius, you hit me? You're done for."
All the big families in Sunset City were gunning for the Lewis Family. Luke was just waiting for a chance.
Tiberius hit him. He called his dad, Paul.
"Dad, I got hit by someone from the Lewis Family outside the Pearl Harbor Hotel. Get here quick and make a scene. It's a good chance to get in with the Carter and Martinez Families."
Hearing him make the call, the Lewis Family's faces turned dark.
Oscar pointed at Tiberius and cursed, "Tiberius, are you stupid? Don't you know our situation? This will make things worse for us."
Tiberius shot back, "Oscar, I was avenging you. That jerk Luke was talking trash. You okay with that?"
Julia slapped Tiberius.
"Tiberius, this is my problem, not yours. Go apologize to Mr. Foster."
"Julia, you ungrateful witch, Tiberius was helping you. Got any conscience?" Adam couldn't take it anymore and stood up, pointing at Julia and cursing.
"Enough." Victor, leaning on his cane, snapped, "Isn't this mess bad enough? Shut up."
The Lewis Family finally quieted down. Victor sighed, "Forget it, let's go."
He turned to leave.
"Think you can just walk away?"
Luke, holding his bleeding nose, shouted, "Today, no one from the Lewis Family is leaving."
He eyeballed the security guards at the Pearl Harbor Hotel entrance.
"What are you standing around for? Stop 'em! I'm doing the Carter and Martinez Families a favor here. I got hit, and you think you can just let that slide?"
The head of security snapped to attention and barked, "Stop them."
A squad of security guards, armed with electric batons, rushed over and blocked their way.
Victor turned to Luke, his old face darkening, and said, "Luke, do you really have to be this heartless?"
Luke strutted over and kicked Victor, knocking him to the ground, cursing, "You old fool. I'm telling you, the Lewis Family is done for."
"Dad."
"Grandpa."
The Lewis Family members scrambled to help Victor up, glaring at Luke. But Luke just ignored them.
The security guards had them boxed in, no way out.
"Grandpa, I'm hungry."
A little girl, maybe five or six, tugged at Victor's sleeve. Adam quickly scooped her up, "Elara, hang tight. We'll eat soon."
"Daddy, why aren't we going home? I'm so hungry and sleepy."
Victor looked at Elara, feeling utterly helpless. He turned to Luke and pleaded, "Mr. Foster, what do you want to let the Lewis Family go?"
Luke pointed to the ground and shouted, "Victor, get on your knees."
Victor's body went rigid.
"Dad, don't do it."
"Grandpa, don't listen to him."
"Grandpa, we're at the end of our rope. We can't afford more enemies."
Some tried to hold Victor back, while others begged him to kneel.
Victor looked at the smug Luke. For the sake of his family, he decided to kneel. He tossed his cane aside and dropped to his knees with a thud, pleading, "Please, Mr. Foster, let us go."
The Pearl Harbor Hotel was a swanky five-star joint in a bustling part of town.
A crowd had gathered, phones out, recording everything.
Luke did the same, filming with his phone, laughing, "Victor, look at you now. Think I'll let the Lewis Family off just 'cause you knelt? No way."
He kicked Victor again, sending him sprawling. Then he sent the video to Lysander.
"Lysander, Victor's on his knees. It's hilarious."
Lysander got the message and laughed, "Luke, you nailed it. From now on, you're with me."
Luke was over the moon. With Lysander's backing, the Foster Family was set.
He called Paul again, "Dad, get the cops here, fast. I want the guy who hit me to rot in jail. The worse the Lewis Family suffers, the happier the Martinez and Carter Families will be. Lysander's already told me to stick with him."
The Lewis Family members helped Victor up again, hearts heavy.
Harry's Family kept cursing Tiberius.
Tiberius shouted, "Things are already this bad, so what? I hit him, and I won't drag the Lewis Family down. If it comes to it, I'll go to jail."
