Chapter 463 Chloe Denies
"Ms. Abigail."
The security guards, who were about to intervene, immediately halted when they saw Abigail approaching and greeted her respectfully.
"Get back to your posts," Abigail ordered, giving the guards a quick glance.
"Yes, ma'am."
The guards dispersed.
Abigail turned to Larry and asked, "Weren't you supposed to be looking for Trinity? Why are you here at the office?"
"I'm here to see Chloe."
"What for?"
"I need to ask her some questions."
"Alright, I'll take you to her."
Abigail led Larry to an office on the top floor.
Chloe had received Larry's call and was waiting in the office. Less than an hour later, Larry arrived.
"Larry."
She stood up.
Larry walked over to the lounge area and sat down on the sofa.
Chloe followed and sat across from him.
Abigail didn't leave.
Larry took out his phone, opened the surveillance video sent by Free, placed the phone on the table, and pushed it towards Chloe. "Take a look. Do you recognize the person in the video?"
Chloe took the phone, puzzled.
She saw Richard.
Richard said something to Trinity, and then Trinity followed him.
Her expression changed slightly, but she quickly regained her composure. She put down the phone and looked at Larry with a confused expression. "Isn't that Trinity? I heard from Abigail that Trinity left this morning. What's going on?"
Abigail also took the phone to look at the video.
Larry asked, "You know I'm not talking about Trinity. I'm talking about Richard."
"Richard who?" Chloe asked, genuinely puzzled. "I don't know any Richard."
"Chloe, I need you to be honest with me. Last time at Aurora Citadel, were you wearing a mask and leading the Cabinet Room experts to the Powell family to help me kill Alistair? And did you impersonate Paisley to get me out of the Powell family and leave me at the Bennett Mansion?"
Larry's tone was serious.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
Chloe didn't admit to anything.
Abigail finished watching the video and put down the phone. She asked, "Larry, what's going on? What does this have to do with Chloe? And isn't Richard your grandfather? Is the old man in the video your grandfather?"
Larry didn't answer Abigail. He kept his eyes fixed on Chloe.
"You don't know? Then why did you recognize Paisley the moment you saw her? Have you known Richard for a long time? Is the Cabinet Room his doing?" Larry pressed.
He slammed his hand on the table, stood up, and shouted, "Chloe, I need you to tell me the truth."
The force of Larry's hand caused the water glass on the table to shatter into pieces.
Chloe was stunned.
She had known Larry for a long time and had never seen him so angry.
After a few seconds, she shook her head and said, "I really don't know what you're talking about."
She wanted to tell Larry.
But Richard had repeatedly warned her not to tell Larry anything. Only by helping Larry in secret could he survive.
If Larry knew, he would be doomed.
To keep Larry alive, she denied everything.
"Larry, I really don't know."
Abigail couldn't help but glance at Chloe and asked, "Chloe, I also feel like you've changed a lot. You were completely different after disappearing for a few days. If you know something, please tell Larry."
"I really don't know."
Chloe denied it again.
"If I find out you're hiding something from me, you'll regret it for the rest of your life." Larry turned and left, his sleeve brushing the air.
"Larry."
Abigail called out.
She glanced at Chloe, then quickly followed Larry out of the office. She caught up with him outside and grabbed his arm. "Larry, what happened?"
Larry took a deep breath and calmed down. "Trinity was taken by someone who might be my grandfather Richard. But my grandfather supposedly died in a fire ten years ago. I'm not sure. Paisley suspects that the Cabinet Room might be his doing, and Chloe has already been in contact with him and helped me in secret twice."
"Isn't that a good thing?" Abigail said. "If Richard is helping you in secret, what's the problem?"
Larry replied, "But Paisley says Richard is not a good person. Now that Trinity is with him, I don't know where he's taken her."
"This is so complicated."
Abigail rubbed her forehead.
Larry's explanation was too complex for her to fully grasp.
Larry didn't say anything more and turned to leave.
Abigail didn't follow. She went back into the office.
Chloe was sitting on the sofa, silent.
Abigail walked over and asked, "Chloe, what's going on? If you've known Richard for a long time, why hide it from Larry?"
"I don't know him."
Chloe denied it again, standing up. "I have work to do. There are some documents I need to review."
Abigail sighed and left the office.
After she left, Chloe returned to her desk and sat down, deep in thought.
She didn't know what Richard had said to Trinity to make her follow him so willingly.
After a few moments of contemplation, she started working.
She planned to call Richard after work.
Meanwhile, Larry returned to Esmeralda's house.
"Larry, how did it go?"
As soon as he walked in, Paisley asked.
Larry sat down and shook his head slightly. "Chloe didn't admit to anything."
"I told you, you were too impulsive. Going to Chloe like that, of course, she'll go to Richard."
"Let her. That way, I don't have to guess. If it really is my grandfather, he might come to me. Then all the mysteries will be solved."
"You're the Dragon King, but you're being naive. If he really is Richard and he's still alive, he would have come to you already. Why hide until now? If it's not Richard, and he's using Chloe to help you and create chaos in Aurora Citadel, there's definitely a hidden agenda."
Paisley looked disappointed.
Larry, as the commander of the Black Dragon Army, was expected to think strategically.
But he had acted impulsively.
Larry had lost his ability to think calmly.
Because it might really be Richard.
A man who was supposed to be dead for ten years suddenly appearing in his life was too much for him to handle calmly.
He looked at Paisley and asked, "What should I do now?"
Paisley said, "If he really is Richard, then the person who impersonated me at Aurora Citadel must have been Chloe. Richard's goal is to create chaos. The Powell family reported that their map was stolen. If I'm right, Richard might be the one who stole it."
"What does he want?"
While Larry was confronting Chloe, Paisley had been thinking and analyzing.
"I think he has two goals. First, to gather the maps of the Four Great Families. If that's the case, then he might be the mastermind behind the theft of Victor Veil's Tomb."
"Second, he has other ambitions. He wants to create chaos and eliminate the Four Great Families and other forces."
