Chapter 207 Sending Off the God of War Respectfully

The Carter family had this all mapped out for ages.

Lately, they’ve been all about legit businesses, steering clear of any shady stuff.

Now, the time was ripe.

They needed a puppet, and Alexander fit the bill perfectly.

For this kind of job, no one else in the Carter family could step up; Justin was the man for it.

With a casual flick of his wrist, Justin sent a few gorgeous women away and zeroed in on Alexander. "Heard Chloe's brother Sam borrowed eight hundred mil in high-interest loans from you?"

"Yeah, Mr. Carter. The Lewis family got ties with you?"

Justin waved it off. "Nah, what I need you to do is put the squeeze on the Lewis Family, pronto. Snatch Sam and throw the Lewis Family into chaos. Go all out. As long as no one kicks the bucket, the Carter Family's got your back."

"Got it." Alexander nodded. Justin stuck around. He had a pretty good handle on the scene in Sunset City.

After that mess with the Four Great Families, a bunch of underground big shots who hit up the Bennett family cemetery freaked out at the sight of a hundred thousand troops. They were so spooked they all bailed, leaving Sunset City's underworld in shambles.

Justin's job was to help Alexander rise to power in Sunset City.

He laid it all out, giving Alexander a ton of pointers.

Meanwhile, down in Southwild. Larry slept in till the afternoon. He woke up starving. After wolfing down a ton of food, he felt way better.

At a military base in Southwild, in a conference room. Generals from all over Southwild were gathered. And at the head of the table? Larry.

Even though he’d quit, he was still the commander in the eyes of many generals in Southwild and the million-strong Black Dragon Army. They’d follow him into hell if he asked.

Idris stood up and said, "In the Battle of Cedar Grove, we wiped out sixty thousand enemy troops and captured forty thousand, including twenty-seven generals and fifty-six deputy generals from twenty-eight countries."

He laid out the war details. Larry listened closely.

After the report, Idris added, "Commander, envoys from those twenty-eight countries are already in Southwild. They’re holed up at the Silver City International Consulate, demanding we release the Black Dragon Army's prisoners."

"Release them?"

Larry’s face hardened. "Not so fast. By international standards, the ransom for a captured soldier is a hundred grand, a hundred mil for a general, and fifty mil for a deputy general. We’re asking for ten times that. If they pay, we let 'em go; if not, we execute them all."

"Yes, sir." Idris nodded.

Larry ordered, "Idris, since I’ve resigned and shouldn’t be in the spotlight, you handle the negotiation. Take the badly injured and unconscious Frank with you, and bring all the captured generals and deputy generals from those twenty-eight countries. If they refuse to pay at the Silver City International Consulate entrance, execute the prisoners on the spot."

"Yes, sir."

"Oh, and Commander," Idris remembered something, "there’s a rumor going around that you died at Cedar Grove."

Larry narrowed his eyes. He’d operated on Frank as soon as he got back yesterday morning and only crashed this morning. He hadn’t heard the rumors.

After a pause, he said, "Since the word’s out, let the Black Dragon Army officially announce that Black Dragon was chased by a hundred thousand troops in Southwild and met a tragic end at Cedar Grove."

Idris was taken aback. "Commander, what’s the play here?"

Larry waved him off. "Just do it."

"Got it." Idris didn’t hang around the conference room any longer and headed out.

After leaving, Idris immediately barked orders. "Get all the generals and deputy generals from those twenty-eight countries out of the slammer and haul them to the Southwild embassy. And don’t forget to grab General Frank from the hospital. Be extra careful with him; he's in bad shape."

With that, Idris hopped into a car and headed to Silver City.

Silver City, a big deal on the Southwild border.

At the international consulate in Silver City.

A swarm of media reporters crowded the entrance.

"Hey folks, we’re live at the Silver City International Consulate. Lately, there’s been a ton of buzz about the Southwild border situation. Word is, a hundred thousand troops from twenty-eight countries ganged up on the ex-commander of the Black Dragon Army, Black Dragon, who supposedly bit the dust. Plus, they say the Black Dragon Army nabbed the generals from those countries."

"What’s the real story? Stay tuned."

Just then, military vehicles rolled up and stopped at the consulate entrance.

Idris was the first to step out. Behind him, fully armed soldiers dragged out the generals from the twenty-eight countries.

These generals were forced to kneel, guns aimed at their heads. Reporters rushed forward, swarming Idris.

In response, dozens of armed soldiers moved in, pointing their guns at the reporters.

The reporters backed off a bit. Idris waved them off. "Stand down."

"Yes, sir." The soldiers backed off.

Idris stepped up and faced the reporters. "You got five minutes to ask whatever you want."

A reporter jumped in, "Idris, can you give us the lowdown on the Battle of Cedar Grove?"

"Sure thing."

Idris nodded. "As you all know, Black Dragon, the commander of the Black Dragon Army, resigned. His past actions, which led to the defeat of many soldiers from the countries on the Southwild Border, made him a marked man. This was a setup against Black Dragon."

"At Cedar Grove, Black Dragon took on the top dogs from those twenty-eight countries and wiped them out."

"But that was just part of the plot against him."

"After he took out those masters, a hundred thousand troops were sent to hunt him down at Cedar Grove. Faced with countless fighter jets and a hundred thousand elite soldiers, Black Dragon was finally overwhelmed and met his end at Cedar Grove."

Idris teared up. He shouted, "Commander, rest in peace. Fire the cannons, shoot, and bid farewell to the commander."

In the distance, cannons roared, deafening. The soldiers in Silver City raised their machine guns and fired into the sky. Cameras captured it all.

In Southwild, citizens in many border cities stood up, bowed their heads, and observed a moment of silence.

At the same time, the news was broadcast live across the internet, spreading nationwide and even worldwide.

[Breaking News: Southwild's commander, Black Dragon, died at Cedar Grove.]

[This afternoon, at 5:10 PM, the entire nation will stand and observe a ten-minute moment of silence to bid farewell to our warlord.]

[Warlord, rest in peace.]

[Black Dragon, after ten years of battles, has now died at Cedar Grove in Southwild. This might be his best return.]

National news channels and TV stations in major cities were all over this, reporting the death of Black Dragon, the fall of the war god.

Soon, it was 5:10 PM. At that moment, people across the country stopped what they were doing, gathered on the streets, in squares, and in open spaces, looking south.

The entire nation observed a moment of silence, bidding farewell to the warlord.

On the streets, all vehicles stopped, and everyone stood up, looking south. So did ten cities.

In the skies across the country, helicopters hovered, playing war songs. The war songs played for a full ten minutes.

After ten minutes, a loud and clear voice echoed, "Farewell, war god. The people of Summer Nation will always remember you."
