Chapter 274 Choose One, You Decide Who Lives

The old man was a big deal on the assassin leaderboard.

He shot Larry a mocking grin, grabbed the rope off the ground, and started wrapping it around himself. In no time, he was all tied up.

The old man sneered, "Got it?"

Larry smirked and stepped forward. The assassins backed off.

Cason had told them Chloe was captured, and Black Dragon was now theirs. But this was Black Dragon, the guy who'd taken out top experts from twenty-eight countries and dodged a hundred thousand troops. Going up against him was a death wish.

The old assassin untied himself, walked over to Larry, and tied him up. Larry didn't fight back. Soon, he was all trussed up.

"Black Dragon, you're not so tough."

"Falling into our hands just like that."

"Who would've thought ten billion dollars would be this easy."

The assassins burst out laughing.

"Take him to see Cason."

Larry was hauled out of Flamecrest and shoved into a black sedan.

His limbs were bound, and a black cloth covered his face, blocking his view.

The ride was rough.

After about an hour, the car stopped.

"Get out."

Larry was dragged out.

The black cloth was yanked off his face.

He looked around. This wasn't Sunset City anymore; it was a small village with a mountain behind it and about a hundred households at its base.

At the village entrance, dogs barked, and a bunch of people stood guard. They were dressed in black, wearing masks, and holding weapons.

Larry frowned. He hadn't expected the Shadow Syndicate to have a base in Summer Nation, let alone in this village. The villagers farmed by day but turned into deadly assassins on missions.

"Move."

A gun was pressed against Larry's head.

He kept quiet and walked into the village.

Larry was taken to the center of the village, down to an underground basement.

Around him were more than thirty heavily armed assassins, all packing serious heat, including rocket launchers.

Larry was brought into the basement.

Chloe and Abigail were tied to chairs inside.

"Chloe." Larry saw Chloe, and his face darkened. He shouted coldly, "I'm here now, let them go."

"Larry!" seeing Larry tied up, Chloe screamed and struggled, but her bonds were too tight.

A hoarse laugh echoed as Cason, dressed in a black coat and hat, walked in. He sat down, looking at the bound Larry with a playful smile.

"The legendary war god, and yet you fell into my hands just like that."

Larry stared coldly at Cason. "Let them go."

Cason's gaze lingered on Larry, pointing at the bound Chloe and Abigail with a playful smile. "I'll only release one. You decide who."

"Release Chloe."

Larry didn't hesitate.

Cason made a gesture.

Immediately, a subordinate walked over and untied Chloe.

Chloe stood up, but she had been tied up for a while, and her limbs were numb. As soon as she stood up, she fell to the ground. She got up again, looking at the heavily armed assassins around her, her face pale.

Her teeth chattered. "Larry, what are you doing? Make them release Abigail. I'll stay with you."

Abigail, tied to the chair, shouted, "Chloe, what are you doing? Get out of here. Do you want to die?"

"Chloe, go," Larry shouted.

"I'm not leaving," Chloe said, her voice trembling. She knew staying meant death, but she couldn't just abandon Larry. "Larry, please, make them release Abigail. I'll stay with you."

Larry glared at Cason, who was smirking at him. "Send Chloe away now. If she gets hurt, even a scratch, the Shadow Syndicate will be wiped out, even if I die."

"Alright," Cason nodded and ordered, "Get Chloe out of here safely."

"I'm not leaving!" Chloe screamed, but she was dragged away.

"Larry, honey!" Her voice faded until it was gone.

Abigail was still tied to the chair. She looked at Larry, and oddly, she wasn't scared. Instead, she felt a strange sense of satisfaction.

Who was he? Who were these people? These questions kept swirling in her mind.

Cason stood up, still smirking. "It's true, the hero's weakness is always a woman. The Black Dragon, who couldn't be taken down by the top experts of twenty-eight countries and a hundred thousand troops, is going down because of a woman."

As he spoke, Cason pulled out a gun and fired two shots.

Larry was hit in both legs and collapsed.

Abigail was horrified. "Larry, are you okay?"

"I won't die," Larry said, his face calm despite the pain. He took deep breaths, controlling the blood flow to his leg wounds.

Abigail was shocked and relieved. Larry was Black Dragon? Chloe's husband was Black Dragon Larry? It seemed impossible.

Cason laughed after firing. "Black Dragon, killing you will bring peace to the world and ease many minds."

Larry, lying on the ground, said calmly, "Cason, stick to your professional ethics. You want to kill me, fine, but don't harm innocent people, or you'll regret it."

"Don't worry," Cason replied. "I know the rules. After I kill you, I'll release Abigail and send Chloe back safely. I only want you dead. Lock him up."

He turned and left, and the room emptied. The basement door was locked.

Outside, Cason made a call. "I've got Black Dragon. Just say the word, and he's dead."

An aged, hoarse voice responded, "Name your terms. I just want Black Dragon's head."

"I have one request: release my leader. Before dawn, send him to Dawnlight with a helicopter ready. Once we're safe, Black Dragon's head is yours. If you try to play me, I'll let him walk."

There was silence on the other end.

After about ten seconds, the voice said, "Okay, I agree."

"Looking forward to your good news," Cason said, hanging up.

An assassin asked, "Black Dragon is captured. His life or death is in your hands. When do we get the bounty?"

Cason waved dismissively. "No rush. Wait until dawn. After that, you can leave. Whether you make it out of Sunset City depends on your skills. Survive, and you'll get the bounty. Die, and you get nothing."
