Chapter 66 Anyone Else Joining?
Seeing Kelly belittle Larry, Chloe felt a bit uncomfortable. "Larry is not loser."
"Isn't he?" Kelly laughed. "I heard he's the husband that the Lewis family especially took in for you. He doesn't have a job and stays home all day cleaning and cooking, living off the Lewis family. He even rode an electric scooter to pick you up from the Everjoy Company, and that's become a joke in Sunset City."
"With one more word, I won't talk to you anymore." Chloe showed displeasure.
"Alright, I was just joking," Kelly quickly apologized.
It seemed Chloe really liked Larry. Trying to drive a wedge between them would be difficult.
Kelly changed the subject. "Pick anything you like, it's on me. With your great figure and beautiful looks, you'll look stunning in anything."
Chloe's displeasure finally faded. But she had money and didn't want Kelly to buy her anything.
With Kelly's help, she picked out a fitted white dress.
Chloe liked white, which represented purity.
At checkout, she found out it was $3,000.
Chloe was shocked and didn't expect the dress to be so expensive.
"Chloe, I told you, this dress is on me. I own this boutique," Kelly added.
"No, that's not necessary." Chloe waved her hand slightly and took out the black card she had confiscated from Larry.
At this moment, she felt a bit nervous.
'What if there's no money in the card? That would be too embarrassing,' Chloe was lost in thought.
The cashier looked at Kelly.
Seeing the black card in Chloe's hand, Kelly was instantly shocked, then her face showed envy and a bit of jealousy.
Others might not know about this card, but Kelly did.
This was the unique Black Dragon Card, the only one in the entire country.
"Go ahead and pay," Larry added.
Since Chloe had taken out the Black Dragon Card, Kelly didn't insist on gifting the dress anymore.
Chloe nervously handed over the card.
The cashier took it with both hands and swiped it.
Chloe entered the password Larry had told her.
In fact, the Black Dragon Card didn't require a password because it was uniquely Larry's card and didn't need one.
Even if a password was entered, any input would be accepted.
"Payment successful." Hearing the successful transaction, Chloe sighed in relief. There was indeed money in the card.
The cashier said, "Ms. Lewis, here's your card. Please keep it safe."
Chloe took back the Black Dragon Card and put it in her pocket.
Kelly looked at Chloe with a bright smile. "Chloe, where are you heading next? I'll join you for some shopping."
Chloe was taken aback.
This was the chairwoman of the Everlife Group. Chloe didn't think she had any right to have Kelly accompany her shopping.
Kelly added, "I don't have anything else to do anyway."
"Larry said I should buy some more jewelry," Chloe said.
"Alright, I'll go with you," Kelly replied.
"Okay." Chloe felt flattered.
Larry was in the downstairs lounge, smoking and playing a game on his phone.
"Larry." Chloe's voice came.
He immediately put away his phone, stood up, and asked with a smile, "How did it go?"
Chloe raised the bag in her hand. "I bought one, but..."
She hesitated and said, "It's a bit expensive. $3,000."
Chloe had never worn such an expensive dress before and was afraid Larry would scold her for being extravagant.
Larry smiled. "Only $3,000? We can afford it. Let's go, let's shop some more."
Kelly walked over, smiling. "Larry, you can head back first. I'll go shopping with Chloe."
Larry frowned.
Kelly laughed. "Don't worry, I'll make sure Chloe gets home safely."
Larry looked at Chloe.
Chloe didn't understand why Kelly was being so nice to her. Was it really because of that masked man?
She also wanted to learn more about the person she saved ten years ago and the one who saved her from Frederick last time.
Chloe thought for a moment and said, "Larry, you go back first. I'll go shopping with Ms. Moore."
Since Chloe had already said so, Larry didn't insist on following. He nodded and said, "Be careful. Call me if anything comes up."
Kelly pulled Chloe along and left.
As they walked away, Kelly gave Larry a slight smile and waved goodbye.
Larry didn't think much of it. With Kelly around, Chloe would be fine.
He also left the boutique, watching her get into Kelly's sports car before riding off on his electric scooter.
However, Larry didn't go home.
Instead, he went to the Mortal Clinic.
When Larry arrived there, it was closed. He took out a key, entered the clinic, closed the door, and went to the back room to sleep.
It wasn't until the evening that Frank and Black Rose Sue returned.
Hearing the noise, Larry woke up and came out of the back room.
"Mr. Bennett, you're here?" Sue was slightly surprised to see Larry.
Larry nodded and asked, "How did things go?"
Frank smiled. "Mr. Bennett, everything was taken care of this afternoon. The newly built Trade Center in the city is now under your name and ready for leasing."
Larry nodded, sat down, and lit a cigarette from the table. "By the way, did anyone from the Four Great Families go to the Bennett family cemetery to pay their respects?"
Frank shook his head. "I've had people watching, and not a single one went."
Hearing this, Larry darkened his face.
"Mr. Bennett..." Frank hesitated.
Larry said, "Go ahead."
Frank hesitated for a moment and said, "According to the latest intelligence, ten years ago, besides the Four Great Families, there were others who went to the Bennett family."
Larry slammed his hand on the table.
The solid wood table instantly shattered into pieces.
Sue shuddered in fear.
Larry said, "Why didn't you mention this before?"
Frank showed an apologetic expression. "Mr. Bennett, I'm sorry, it was my oversight. I only investigated the Four Great Families and overlooked some details."
Larry was grim as he said, "Who else?"
Frank quickly said, "The Four Great Families were the ones who acted openly, but there were others who went secretly. These people didn't show themselves but hid in the shadows. In other words, ten years ago, it wasn't just the Four Great Families of Sunset City targeting the Bennett family. Almost all of Sunset City's underground forces participated, and there was a mastermind behind it."
Larry knew there was a mastermind.
Whoever had the Artwork of Moonlit was the mastermind.
"Who exactly were these people?" Larry asked.
Frank said, "Mr. Bennett, our influence is in Southwild. Now that Free King has taken over as the head of the Five Armies. I don't have the authority to use Sunset City's intelligence network. I'm not sure which underground forces participated."
"Free King." Larry pondered for a moment, then waved his hand and said, "Avoid involving Free King in this matter."
"In that case, there's only one person we can turn to for information," Frank replied.
Larry asked, "Who?"
Frank said, "This person is called Ghost Lord, nicknamed Grim Reaper. He deals in intelligence and is said to know everything. Grim Reaper's influence is strong, not just in Sunset City. His underground intelligence network can uncover things even some official channels can't."
"Contact Grim Reaper. I want to know which forces, besides the Four Great Families, participated in the destruction of the Bennett family ten years ago," Larry said.
"Yes, I'll arrange it immediately," Frank replied.
Larry leaned back in his chair and took a deep breath.
He hadn't expected the events of ten years ago to be so deeply entangled. But no matter who was involved.
There would only be one outcome.
That was death!
