Chapter 449 Recovery, Before Leaving

After Paisley left, she headed to Cody's retreat.

She knew Cody had exhausted his Qi and needed to meditate.

At the Bennett Mansion, there was a secluded cabin.

Paisley arrived at the cabin and gently knocked on the door.

"Come in." A voice came from inside.

Paisley pushed the door open and saw Cody sitting cross-legged on the floor, meditating. She called out, "Grandpa."

"Yes, what is it?"

"Grandpa, I need a few Spirit Elixirs."

Cody glanced at Paisley, puzzled. "Your Qi isn't depleted. Why do you need Spirit Elixirs?"

Paisley lowered her head and whispered, "I forced myself to practice the meridian diagram, and my Qi reversed, causing severe depletion."

Cody didn't ask further. He took a small bottle from his pocket and tossed it to Paisley. "These are hard to make. Use them sparingly."

Paisley caught the bottle and immediately said, "Thank you, Grandpa."

"Off you go."

"Yes."

Paisley turned and left.

Back in her room, she took one of the Spirit Elixirs.

As the elixir went down her throat, a warm current spread throughout her body, quickly restoring her depleted Qi.

With her Qi restored, she still had injuries, but didn't care. She hurried to Larry's room to start acupuncture treatment.

For the next few days, she used her Qi to heal Larry's injuries.

The Against Heaven 81 Needles technique was miraculous. With the aid of Qi, it had a near-reviving effect, and Larry's internal injuries gradually improved.

Five days passed in the blink of an eye.

Larry's internal injuries had mostly healed, but his Qi had not yet recovered.

Paisley was treating Larry again.

After removing the Against Heaven 81 Needles, she saw Larry looking much better and couldn't help but ask, "Larry, how are you feeling?"

Larry nodded. "I'm almost fully recovered. It will take a few more days to gather my scattered Qi."

"Amazing." Paisley's face showed a hint of disbelief.

Larry's injuries had been life-threatening.

Yet, in just a few days, he had become so healthy.

"Larry, what kind of needles are these? How are they so miraculous?"

Larry smiled faintly and didn't elaborate.

At that moment, the door opened, and Cody walked in.

Seeing Larry looking well and chatting, without any of his previous sickly appearance, Cody couldn't help but say, "Not bad. You've recovered in just a few days."

"Grandpa." Paisley respectfully lowered her head and greeted him.

"Yes." Cody nodded slightly, acknowledging Paisley.

He focused on Larry, walked over, and sat down. "Let me check you over."

Larry waved his hand slightly. "No need. I'm a doctor too. I know my own condition. I'm almost fully recovered."

"That puts my mind at ease. By the way, can I draw some blood now?"

Larry nodded.

He knew that to gain the Bennett family's protection, he had to comply with Cody.

Cody took out a syringe.

Larry took it and drew a vial of blood for Cody.

Cody was very curious about how Larry had recovered so quickly in just a few days.

He wanted to ask Paisley, but she was eager to study the Artwork of Moonlit, so he didn't ask further and left with Larry's blood.

After Cody left, Paisley breathed a sigh of relief.

"By the way, did you look at the mental cultivation method I gave you?" Larry asked.

Over the past few days, Paisley had hardly left his side. He had also copied the ancient characters from the Artwork of Moonlit for her.

Paisley, being part of the Bennett family, had studied ancient texts and could understand the writing.

She shook her head slightly. "It seems to be a cultivation method, but after studying it for days, I couldn't figure it out. I even tried splitting it into two parts, but that didn't work either."

"Yes." Larry nodded. "If it were that easy to decipher, the secret of the Artwork of Moonlit wouldn't have remained unsolved for centuries. Don't rush. I believe we'll figure it out eventually. But I have to leave."

"What?" Paisley was taken aback. "Larry, you're leaving?"

Larry nodded. "I've been in Aurora Citadel for many days. I have other matters to attend to in Sunset City."

Larry was actually worried about Trinity. When he left, Trinity was still in the hospital. After so many days, he didn't know how she was doing. And then there was Chloe. When he left, Chloe's emotions were clearly off. He was worried something might have happened. He needed to go back and check on them to be at ease.

"But your Qi hasn't recovered yet. With Grandpa's protection in the Bennett family, you're safe. If you leave, others might target you, and even Grandpa won't be able to protect you."

"I'll ask Cody to make a statement. I believe if he does, other families won't dare to act against me."

"Alright, as you wish." Paisley didn't try to persuade him further.

"I'll go now." Larry didn't linger and headed for the door.

It was morning, and as he opened the door, sunlight streamed in. Winter was approaching. The late autumn sun wasn't too harsh, but it was still a bit chilly.

Paisley followed him out. "I'll take you to see Grandpa."

"Alright."

"This way, please." Paisley gestured.

They walked side by side towards the backyard. Paisley said, "I'll continue studying the mental cultivation method. If I crack it, I'll find you, and we can practice together."

"Yes, we'll see once you crack it." Larry couldn't predict the future, so he responded casually.

Soon, they arrived at the secluded cabin in the backyard. After returning, Cody had eagerly taken out Larry's blood and sprinkled it on the Artwork of Moonlit. He saw the changes in the artwork and the ancient characters that appeared. His heart was almost bursting with excitement.

After studying the characters, he realized it was a cultivation method, a very advanced internal cultivation method. However, the method seemed flawed or had unreasonable parts, making it impossible to practice.

He was pondering this when there was a knock on the door. He put away the Artwork of Moonlit, which had returned to its original state, and called out, "Come in."

Larry and Paisley walked in. Cody looked at them and asked, "What's the matter?"

Larry got straight to the point. "I'm here to say goodbye."

Cody frowned. "You're leaving?"

"Yes." Larry nodded. "I've been in Aurora Citadel for a while. It's time to return to Sunset City. I came to ask if you could make a statement, saying the Bennett family will protect me. Anyone who acts against me will be opposing the Bennett family."

Cody didn't agree immediately. Instead, he asked, "Did you read the hidden text in the Artwork of Moonlit?"

Larry didn't deny it and nodded. "Yes, I did."

"Did you try to practice it?"

Larry shook his head. "It's very strange. It can't be practiced. Forcing it would cause bizarre changes."

Larry hadn't figured it out, so Cody felt reassured. Cody changed the subject. "You don't have to leave right away. I promise you access to the Bennett family's library, where you can study the martial arts left by our ancestors. Many of them are profound and powerful, which would be very beneficial to you."

Larry was indeed tempted, but he was worried about Sunset City. He had caused a huge problem this time, and he was concerned that his enemies might act against people in Sunset City. He needed to return quickly.

"I'll go to Sunset City first. If I have the chance, I'll come back to study."

"Alright, I'll make a statement right away." Cody nodded.
