Chapter 85 Worshiping Heroes

In the Audi, Helen sat in the passenger seat.

Robert was driving, constantly bragging about how powerful his family was in Sunset City and how much money he made running his company.

"Helen, I heard from my Mom that you came to Sunset City this time to find a job and develop your career here. In my opinion, you don't need to look for a job. Just come to my company. I run a herbal processing factory. With my family's connections, we have plenty of orders, and making hundreds of thousands a year is no problem. You can directly take the manager position."

"I'll see." Helen wasn't moved.

Robert was good in many ways, and they were college classmates, very familiar with each other.

However, she really didn't have any feelings for him.

Helen liked heroes and admired strong men.

She came to Sunset City because Free King was transferred here.

She admired heroes and liked generals like Free King who fought on all fronts. But Helen could distinguish between dreams and reality.

Marrying a general was a dream.

In reality, Helen would only find a man with relatively good conditions who could make her life prosperous in the future.

She got in Robert's car because she knew the White family knew the general.

"Robert..."

"Yes?"

Helen hesitated.

"Helen, we're so close. Just say whatever you want. With my current ability, I can solve it for you. Did you fancy a dress? Or a bag you can't afford? No problem, I'll buy it for you.”

Robert kept talking about money, which made Helen a bit disgusted.

However, Helen didn't lose her temper. "You said you know the general. Which general is it?"

Robert was slightly stunned, then boasted, "You know Free King, right? It's a general under Free King, named Howard, with a one-star rank."

Hearing this, Helen was moved.

She thought, 'Robert knows Howard, who is very famous in the Western Territory.'

She added, "Can you introduce me to him? I'd like to take a photo with him."

Robert looked troubled and said, “Helen, Mr. Cruz has a very high status. Even though I know him and can call him for favors, who are you? Just a nobody. He wouldn't come to see you.”

Helen nodded.

She thought, 'That makes sense.

'It seems I can't fulfill my dream.'

Helen didn't think much about it, just felt a bit disappointed.

Soon, Robert brought her to Pavilion Restaurant.

He had reserved a spot in the main hall.

Because there were many wealthy people in Sunset City, and it was lunchtime, the private rooms were fully booked. Besides, he could only afford the lowest-priced bronze private room.

Robert had already planned it out.

During the meal, he would order a few bottles of wine.

He knew Helen had a very low tolerance for alcohol and would get drunk easily.

Now he had to find a way to make Helen drink, so he would have his chance.

'Bitch, pretending to be pure? Let's see if you can still pretend after I get you.' He sneered inwardly.

However, Robert had a smile on his face as he invited Helen into Pavilion Restaurant.

Larry had been following behind, accompanying Helen to Pavilion Restaurant.

He didn't disturb Helen and Robert's meal. As long as nothing happened, he wouldn't intervene. He planned to pick her up after they finished eating, completing Chloe's task perfectly.

Outside Pavilion Restaurant, in the open-air parking lot.

Larry parked the car, got out, and looked at the Jeep that had followed them.

He walked over and gently knocked on the window.

The window rolled down.

Howard looked at Larry outside the car, with a hint of embarrassment on his face.

Larry said, "Mr. Cruz, doesn't the military district have anything for you to do? Following me around all day, what is this? Do you think I'm a suspect?"

Howard hurriedly said, "Mr. Bennett, Free King is worried about your safety and sent me to protect you secretly."

"Protect me?" Larry immediately laughed. "Mr. Cruz, what kind of joke is this? I don't need anyone to protect me. Go back and tell Free King not to send anyone to follow me. It makes me feel uncomfortable and restricted."

"Mr. Bennett..."

"Since you're here, let's have a meal together."

Now that they had arrived at the restaurant, Larry was a bit hungry too. But eating alone was quite boring.

Luckily, Howard was there.

More importantly, Larry had no money on him and needed someone to pick up the tab.

"No, I wouldn't dare." Howard was immediately frightened; he didn't dare to eat with Larry.

Larry impatiently glanced at him. "I'm giving you the chance to treat me to a meal. It's an honor for you; outsiders don't get this opportunity."

"Yes." Howard immediately nodded and got out of the car.

He wasn't in his military uniform; he was in plain clothes.

After getting out of the car, Larry and Howard walked towards Pavilion Restaurant together.

Larry said, "By the way, Mr. Cruz, I have a question for you."

With his arm around Howard's shoulder, Howard felt very uncomfortable. "Mr. Bennett, go ahead."

"What do you think is the purpose of the higher-ups reorganizing the military districts in five places and transferring Free King to Sunset City to command the five armies?"

Howard trembled with fear and quickly said, "I wouldn't dare to speculate on the intentions of the higher-ups."

Larry was just casually asking and didn't expect Howard to be so scared.

They walked into Pavilion Restaurant.

It was mealtime, and the main hall was almost full. But there were still some empty tables reserved just in case.

As soon as Howard and Larry appeared, Samuel arrived. Because someone had already informed Samuel that General Howard was here.

Samuel walked over and, seeing not only Howard but also Larry, was immediately frightened and hurriedly approached. "Mr. Bennett, Mr. Cruz."

Larry waved his hand slightly and said, "Keep it low-key, arrange a table for me, just in the main hall…"

Larry glanced around and saw Helen, pointing to a table behind her, and said, "There."

"Yes." Samuel nodded.

Larry waved his hand. "Alright, you're a big boss, coming out personally to greet us. Are you trying to cause a sensation? I'm just the son-in-law of the Lewis family. If this gets out, there will be more troubles."

Samuel wisely left. But he arranged for someone to attend to Larry and Howard.

Larry's table was right behind Helen.

Helen had her back to him and couldn't see him.

Robert, sitting across from Helen, could only see Larry's back. He didn't recognize him, but… he saw Howard.

"Oh my God." Seeing Howard, Robert was immediately frightened and almost fell off his chair.

Robert's loss of composure made Helen frown.

"It's nothing." He wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.

A general coming to eat quietly shouldn't be a problem as long as they didn't provoke him.

"Helen, let's have a drink to celebrate your move to Sunset City."

Helen frowned and said, "Robert, you know I don't drink."

Robert quickly said, "Helen, this is red wine, it won't get you drunk, just have a glass."

Hearing this, Helen picked up the red wine and took a small sip.

As soon as she drank it, she felt a burning sensation in her throat.

She had a constitution that made her face turn red after just a little alcohol.

Helen took just one sip, and her face instantly turned red.

At that moment, she felt like throwing up.

"I need to go to the restroom." Helen stood up and turned to leave.

As she turned, she saw someone. She was completely stunned. "Mr. Cruz?"

A few days ago, during Free King's inauguration ceremony, Helen watched the live broadcast.

She even watched the replay several times afterward.

At this moment, the man eating at the table in front of her was Howard.

Helen's heart skipped a beat. She had admired heroes since she was a child and had a special affection for generals.

Seeing Howard in plain clothes, Helen remembered the Howard she saw on TV a few days ago that Howard wore a military uniform with a star on his shoulder, looking majestic.

She wanted to take a photo with Howard, but she didn't have the courage.

She silently encouraged herself, 'Having missed the opportunity before, I can't miss it this time.'

Larry had his back to Helen, so she didn't see him.

Taking a few deep breaths, she finally mustered the courage to walk over. Just as she was about to speak to Howard, she suddenly saw Larry and was shocked. "Larry?"
