Chapter 454 Ruining Good Things
Paisley stood there, thinking deeply about the issues between Larry and Chloe from a woman's perspective.
Her analysis was spot on.
Ten years ago, Chloe was brave and strong.
But no matter how tough someone is, after enduring ten years of hardship, they change.
The fact that Chloe hadn't completely fallen apart was already pretty impressive.
"She's a great girl, Larry. You should cherish her. Don't wait until it's too late and you're filled with regret. And about Abigail, yeah, she was your first love and waited for you for ten years, but remember how she treated you when you were just the Lewis family's useless son-in-law? She looked down on you. It was only after she found out who you really were that she started treating you well."
"And then there's Trinity. You and she were an accident, but before she knew your true identity, her dad wanted to throw you in jail, and she hated you. It was only after she found out you were a hero that her attitude changed."
Paisley spoke softly.
"Let's go."
Larry didn't have much to say about these complicated feelings.
He was confused and didn't know what to do.
He didn't want to let anyone down.
But that was just impossible.
No matter who he chose, someone would get hurt.
The two of them walked towards the airport exit.
Larry said, "Graham's parents died in a car accident when he was young. He has a sister, and the records show that she's seventeen now, named Della Graham, studying in Meadowbrook City, a senior in high school."
Paisley said, "Then let's head straight to the school."
"Yeah."
Larry nodded.
As they walked out of the airport, they noticed the area outside had been cleared. There was no one around except for some military vehicles.
Leading the group was a middle-aged man in a military uniform with a single star on his shoulder.
The man looked to be around fifty, full of energy and presence.
Seeing Larry and Paisley approaching, the man in the military uniform with a single star on his shoulder walked up, saluted, and shouted loudly, "General Lloyd Wallace of Meadowbrook City reporting to Dragon King."
Larry frowned slightly.
His travels across the country were supposed to be secret, with no one knowing.
Moreover, his reinstatement after being demoted hadn't been publicly announced. How did Lloyd know he had been reinstated and that he would be in Meadowbrook City?
"General Wallace, what's going on here?" Larry asked with a frown.
Lloyd smiled and said, "Dragon King, when I heard you were coming to Meadowbrook City, I came to welcome you. I've prepared a banquet at the best hotel in Meadowbrook City, just waiting for you to attend."
Larry waved his hand slightly, "No need. Also, this is an airport, with many people coming and going. Why have you blocked it off?"
"Dragon King, I was just worried about outsiders disturbing you. By the way, the heads of all the major families and corporations in Meadowbrook City are waiting outside the airport. They all want to meet the Dragon King." Lloyd said.
Larry asked, "Who leaked the news of my visit to Meadowbrook City?"
"Dragon King, the news came from the Sunset City military district," Lloyd replied respectfully.
"Alright, have your men disperse." Larry waved his hand slightly.
The news coming from the Sunset City military district could only be from two people, Free or Howard.
He didn't know what Free or Howard's intentions were in leaking his whereabouts.
He would have to ask about this when he returned to Sunset City.
"Dragon King, the big shots of Meadowbrook City are all outside. Won't you meet them?"
"No."
Larry turned and walked away.
But he knew if he just walked out, he'd definitely get swarmed. He turned back, looked at Lloyd, and instructed, "Get me a car. I need to go to the school."
"Yes, sir."
Lloyd immediately responded.
He then prepared a car and personally drove Larry and Paisley to the school.
Meanwhile...
Della Graham was in the classroom.
It was noon, not yet time for class.
Students were gathered together, chatting about gossip, who was dating whom, and which female teacher was getting close to which male teacher.
"Della, get out of here!"
A voice echoed.
Immediately, a boy led a group of ten or so students, storming in.
At the back of the classroom, a girl was listening to music with headphones.
Her head was bobbing to the music. She seemed to sense something, looked up, saw the group of students approaching, and her face changed slightly. She quickly took off her headphones, opened the window, jumped out, and started running.
The leader cursed viciously, "Chase her down, get that bitch!"
The group of students immediately rushed out.
Della quickly ran down the stairs, bumping into many people and drawing a lot of curses.
Larry arrived at the entrance of Meadowbrook High.
Seeing the students coming and going, their youthful energy, he felt a bit nostalgic. He had once been like this, enjoying a carefree student life.
Back in school, he was a prominent figure.
And Abigail was the school beauty.
The two of them were a perfect match and naturally got together.
As he was feeling nostalgic, a girl suddenly rushed out, followed by dozens of students chasing her, cursing as they ran.
"Della, stop right there!"
"Hmm?"
Larry heard the name and frowned.
Della?
Wasn't that Graham's sister?
He glanced at Paisley and said, "Let's go check it out."
"Okay." Paisley nodded.
Larry looked at Lloyd and said, "Lloyd, you should go back. Wearing a military uniform in a school area will cause a big commotion."
"But, Dragon King..."
"Go back, that's an order," Larry commanded.
"Yes, sir."
Lloyd stood straight, saluted, then turned and left.
"Let's go."
Larry quickly chased after Della.
Della ran several blocks, finally unable to run any further.
In an alley, she bent over, hands on her knees, panting heavily.
"Della, where do you think you're going?"
Hearing the shout, she immediately reacted, shouting, "Damn, they really won't give up."
She wanted to run.
But a few students were blocking her way ahead.
She turned around, looking at the boy approaching.
The boy was about seventeen or eighteen, dressed stylishly, clearly a rich kid.
"Tony, I was wrong. Let me go this time. I won't cause any more trouble. By the way, I know a pretty girl. How about I introduce you to her?"
Della smiled brightly.
Yesterday, she had ruined Tony Johnson's plans.
Tony had taken a few girls out for drinks, got one of them drunk, and took her to a hotel. She called the police.
At the critical moment, the police arrived and took Tony away.
Their family had great influence in Meadowbrook City, and it was easy to find out she had called the police.
Now Tony was causing trouble, and she immediately tried to appease him, "She's definitely pretty, better looking than the one yesterday. If that's not enough, I'll keep you company for a few days?"
She straightened up.
"I'm not bad either, got the looks and the figure."
She said this, but her eyes were darting around, looking for an escape opportunity.
