Chapter 113 The Origin of the Bennett Family

"Black Dragon?" William was floored by Larry's words.

He thought, 'The Black Dragon of Southwild, one of the Five Great Marshals of the Summer Nation, who made waves in that battle over a year ago?'

William's granddaughter, Sarah, couldn't help but give Larry another look.

Everyone knew Black Dragon of Southwild. Yet no one knew what the Black Dragon actually looked like.

Sarah never expected the Black Dragon to be a member of the Bennett Family.

Larry looked at William and asked, "William, can you tell me something about my family now?"

Larry held a high position with many privileges, but he couldn't find any information about the Bennett Family's history.

Larry felt his family was extraordinary, and their heirloom, the Artwork of Moonlit, was no ordinary piece.

William took a deep breath. Since Larry was the Black Dragon, he should be able to face the Bennett Family's enemies.

"Mr. Bennett, do you know about the Four Ancient Families of the Summer Nation?" William asked.

Larry frowned. He had never heard of The Four Ancient Families of the Summer Nation .

He knew Aurora Citadel had many powerful and wealthy families, but the Four Ancient Families were new to him.

William said, "The Bennett Family, the Morgan Family, the Bennett Family, and the Nelson Family are known as the Four Ancient Families of the Summer Nation. They've been around for at least two thousand years, spreading their influence worldwide."

"William, are you saying my Bennett Family is one of the Four Ancient Families of the Summer Nation?"

William nodded. "Although the Four Ancient Families control all the wealth in the world, outsiders basically don't know about them. Thirty years ago, a conflict arose within the Bennett Family. Mr. Richard Bennett left and settled in Sunset City with his family."

Larry couldn't help but ask, "What does this have to do with the downfall of my Bennett Family and the Artwork of Moonlit?"

William said, "I'm just a servant, so I don't know much. All I know is that Mr. Richard Bennett brought the Artwork of Moonlit from the family, and some important figures have their eyes on it. Mr. Richard Bennett once told me that people from the Four Ancient Families are everywhere, and one of the current Five Great Marshals, the Emperor, is also from one of the Four Ancient Families. As for which family, I don't know."

When Larry heard hearing this, his face darkened. "William, are you saying the mastermind behind my family's downfall is the Emperor?"

William shook his head slightly. "Mr. Bennett, I don't know. I'm just telling you the Emperor belongs to one of the Four Ancient Families. The ones who destroyed the Bennett Family could be members of the Bennett Family themselves or one of the other three families."

The Four Ancient Families were very secretive. Outsiders didn't even know they existed.

Originally, William didn't plan to say any of this. But now Larry was the Black Dragon of Southwild, one of the Five Great Marshals, a person at the pinnacle of power. With such strength, he wouldn't fear even the Four Ancient Families.

When Larry heard hearing this, his expression softened considerably.

If it really were the Emperor, then the Five Great Marshals of the Summer Nation would become the Four Great Marshals, even if the Emperor was the most powerful among them.

But for Larry, killing an Emperor wouldn't be a difficult task. "William, do you know the origin of my family's heirloom, the Artwork of Moonlit? What secrets does it hide, and why are others so interested in it?"

William shook his head and said, "Mr. Bennett, I don't know. Mr. Richard Bennett never told me about these."

"Do you know who has the Artwork of Moonlit now?"

William shook his head again.

Larry felt a wave of disappointment. He had hoped William knew more inside information.

Turned out, he only knew the origins of the Bennett Family and not much else.

Larry pulled out a simple key, staring at it. "What’s the connection between the treasure chest at Victor Veil's Tomb on the Southwild Border and the Artwork of Moonlit?" he murmured.

Larry felt Sue showing up with the key and meeting him was no coincidence.

When Larry met Sue, he was following a trail of killing intent.

However, when he reached the underground parking lot, the killing intent vanished, and he found Sue. But Sue wasn’t the source of that killing intent.

Larry felt everything was deliberately arranged by someone.

From the theft of the treasure, the mastermind had been orchestrating everything, killing everyone, making Sue bring the key to Sunset City, and even letting the chest end up in Sunset City.

Larry took a deep breath. To unravel these mysteries, he had to find the chest first, see what was inside, and how it related to the Artwork of Moonlit.

After thinking for a while, Larry spoke again, "William."

"Mr. Bennett," William responded with a nod.

Larry said, "You've been working for my grandfather for decades. After the Bennett Family incident, you even risked your life to come back and bury the family members. I have nothing else to thank you with, so I’ll give you the property that once belonged to the Bennett Family."

"Mr. Bennett, there's no need for that."

William immediately stood up, waving his hand anxiously. "Mr. Bennett, that's too valuable. I can't accept it."

Larry gently raised his hand, interrupting William. "Money means nothing to me now, but it's different for you. You have a family to support."

"In that case..."

"Alright, bring your family to Sunset City, and then you can go to the Four Great Families to take over the Bennett Family's former assets. The Bennett Family was once the top family in Sunset City, with assets worth over a billion dollars. That should be enough for the rest of your lives."

"Thank you, Mr. Bennett." William knew Larry's current status. As one of the Five Great Marshals, he indeed didn’t lack money, so he didn’t refuse anymore.

"Go back now. If you need anything, you can find Frank at the Mortal Clinic on Dragon Street."

"Okay." William stood up and bowed to Larry.

Sarah also stood up and bowed. Then, William took Sarah and left the Imperial Residence.

Outside the Imperial Residence, Sarah looked longingly. "Grandpa, is Mr. Larry Bennett really the Black Dragon, the commander of Southwild?"

William nodded. "I think so. No one else could have convinced the Free King to send a hundred thousand troops."

"Grandpa, are we really going to take over the Bennett Family's former assets?"

William was slightly stunned and said, "It's not really taking over, more like managing it for Mr. Larry Bennett."

Sarah nodded, then turned to look back at the Imperial Residence.

"Mr. Larry Bennett, Black Dragon..." Sarah murmured softly.

Inside the Imperial Residence, Larry sat on the sofa smoking.

Frank asked, "Mr. Bennett, what do we do next?"

Larry's expression was serious.

The Bennett Family's revenge had been taken, but the main culprit was still unknown, and the family's heirloom was still missing.

Larry thought for a moment and said, "Go urge Grim Reaper again, tell him to speed up the information gathering. I need to find out where the treasure chest that entered the antique market in Sunset City is as soon as possible."

"Yes, I'll go right away."

"No rush. Let's go out for a few drinks first."

"Mr. Bennett, aren't you going back to accompany Chloe?"

"Chloe went to the Lewis Family Mansion. I found an opportunity to sneak out and solve some problems. It's still early, let's go."

Larry stood up, pulled Frank along, and the two left the Imperial Residence together.
