Chapter 11 We Haven't Divorced Yet
Within the bustling and noisy diner, the air was filled with a strong scent of smoke. Winona had pinned up her slightly curled hair with a simple clip...
As she lowered her head, her hair fell from her temples, covering her profile. Her black hair contrasted with her already fair skin, making her even more eye-catching.
She pointed at the menu and said something to the man beside her.
He nodded, and Winona smiled, reaching out to call the waiter.
Samuel raised an eyebrow. "Looks like your wife is doing quite well without you, huh?"
Zachary didn't say anything and turned to leave the VIP section.
Inside the diner, Alex chugged a bottle of beer, still finding it hard to believe. "Are you really Windy? The one who successfully restored the highly damaged porcelain by the Seine River?"
Alex had asked this question many times on their way here. Now, she didn't know how to answer it.
Mr. Baker kicked him under the table. "Drink less. Windy, pay no attention to him."
Winona obediently replied, "Okay."
"Here's your dish. Be careful not to burn yourself!" The waiter shouted as he brought a plate of Spanish seafood rice. Just as Winona picked up her cutlery, her phone rang.
She put down her cutlery and took out her phone from her bag.
Her finger was about to slide the answer button when she noticed that the screen displayed Zachary's name.
Winona's finger froze, and she didn't answer. Finally, she turned off her phone screen and put it on the table on silent mode.
The phone rang twice and stopped.
Winona was not surprised. Zachary had never been patient. Every time she was slightly slower in answering his calls, he would hang up.
But what was different this time was that shortly after the call ended, a WhatsApp message popped up on her screen.
She casually opened it and was surprised to see that it was from Zachary, consisting of only two simple and direct words, "Come over."
Winona frowned and subconsciously scanned the surroundings. Her gaze finally settled on the black Bentley parked outside the five-star hotel across the street.
She could easily recognize Zachary's custom-made car.
Ignoring it, Winona continued eating, but her mind was clearly elsewhere.
Thinking that Winona felt embarrassed, Alex used his cutlery to pick up a shrimp and put it in her bowl. "Don't be so formal. The people at View Studio are easy to get along with. Treat us as friends, and if you need to take leave for any reason, Mr. Baker won't stop you. He would be glad if we leave quickly."
Their line of work wasn't conducive to keeping employees. Not to mention promotions, it was hard enough to find a boyfriend while spending all day dealing with these worn-out objects. After a day of hard work, there was hardly any time left.
Not many young people could endure such hardship and loneliness, so Mr. Baker treated the staff with great tolerance and provided a relatively relaxed environment.
Winona smiled, "Thank you."
Just as she was about to lower her head to eat the shrimp, Zachary's message came again: "Are you coming, or should I come to you?"
Even through the screen, she could feel the intense anger and displeasure from him at this moment.
Winona knew Zachary's temper well. She quickly finished the shrimp Alex had picked for her.
Putting down her cutlery, Winona apologized, "Mr. Baker, I'm sorry but I have something urgent to deal with today. I've called a car, and the driver keeps urging me. I have to leave now."
Mr. Baker was understanding, "Go ahead, go ahead. I am leaving as well. Old folks like us can't compare to the energy of young people like you."
After apologizing to the others again, Winona picked up her bag and walked quickly towards the Bentley.
As the passenger door opened and closed, Winona got in and urgently said, "Hurry up."
Zachary's already discontented mood darkened even further. His anger gradually became uncontrollable, and instead of leaving, he grabbed the woman's chin, saying, "Am I such an eyesore to you?"
Winona winced as he squeezed her chin, but when facing Zachary, she refused to yield.
In their previous three years of marriage, she had yielded every day and received not an ounce of tenderness in return. She wasn't going to submit to him again.
"We are getting divorced. I don't want people to misunderstand and think we're still entangled with each other."
The man's gaze was as dark as ink. He stared at Winona's rosy lips and roughly pressed his fingertips against them, asking, "Are the shrimps delicious?"
Winona understood the implicit meaning in his expression immediately.
His despicable nature.
Even if she was a woman he didn't want, he wouldn't allow anyone else to touch her. But she insisted on letting him know that she wouldn't be oppressed by him.
Winona raised an eyebrow at him and replied, "Of course they are delicious..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Zachary's lips pressed against hers, suppressing her words.
The smell of tobacco mixed with a faint scent of alcohol filled her nostrils. His kiss was as dominant as he was, leaving no room for refusal.
Winona couldn't react at all. During their marriage, he rarely kissed her. Even if he occasionally lost control, it was always within a controllable range, and she could always pull away.
But this time... in the brief lapse of her wandering thoughts, his hand had already reached under her clothes, roughly touching her waistline, with an intention to go further.
In a daze, Winona had a feeling that if she didn't stop him, Zachary might actually have sex with her right there in the car.
She closed her eyes and bit him hard.
The man exhaled softly, releasing her, but his lips were still close, as if they were going to kiss again the next second.
Zachary wiped his lips with his hand, leaving traces of faint red bloodstains on his fingertips. He smirked, colder than when he wasn't smiling, and asked, "You bit me?"
Winona wiped her lips disdainfully with her sleeve and said, "What's the matter? Fiona didn't satisfy you? Making you act like a stallion in heat, trying to mate with every mare?'
Zachary remained unfazed, "We haven't divorced yet. She can make me feel safe."
The irony of using the word "safe" was particularly evident!
Fuming with anger, Winona chuckled sarcastically. She wished she could slap him right now!
"If she knew how disgusting you are, she might dump you again," she said.
Before she could finish her sentence, a knocking sound came from the car window."
The two turned their heads towards the voice and saw Alex standing outside the car, bending over to see if there was anyone inside.
The car was covered with privacy film, allowing those inside to see outside, but not vice versa.
Zachary didn't roll down the window, but he scrutinized Alex from head to toe with a critical gaze.
Then, the man's voice, cold and mocking, came through, "Is this the new man you found?"
Alex's clothes weren't extravagant, but they were of extremely good quality. The watch on his wrist was worth over ten thousand dollars. However, in Zachary's eyes, who spent money like water, it wouldn't even cover the cost of a meal.
Before Winona could respond, Zachary's gaze shifted from Alex to the diner across the street. "You want a divorce and cause a ruckus just to have a meal with a man like this?"
His words turned progressively harsher and more cutting with each sentence. "Winona, have you had your fill of delicacies and now want to taste trash?"
Looking at the man's indifferent profile, Winona felt that her years of sacrifice were not worth it.
"Yeah, Mr. Bailey is rich and good-looking, and when he gives gifts, they are worth millions or even tens of millions of dollars. But your wife would rather eat at a casual dining than stay married to you. What do you think the reason is?"
