Chapter 613 Men's Words Are All Lies

The next day.

Winona woke up with a start, her body feeling like it had been through a marathon. As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Zachary's perfect face, even in sleep. The memories of last night hit her like a freight train.

She immediately remembered how Zachary had driven her nuts.

Winona's face darkened, and she kicked Zachary, who was sleeping soundly with his arm around her, out of bed.

Zachary woke up from the kick, opened his eyes, and saw only Winona's back as she jogged into the bathroom. He rubbed his sore waist, chuckled, and reached for the watch on the nightstand. Seeing that it was about time, he got out of bed.

Unlike her pained and grimacing expression, Zachary's face was full of satisfaction and refreshment. He went to the bathroom outside to wash up, then went downstairs to buy breakfast. When he returned, Winona emerged from the bathroom with a wet face.

Zachary watched her walk out while rubbing her hand, knowing he was in the wrong. "Come have breakfast."

Winona didn't want to talk to him, but was indeed hungry. She grabbed the food and sat on the couch.

Breakfast in Aetheria mainly consisted of bread and coffee. Winona usually didn't have much of an appetite in the morning, so she ate reluctantly.

Zachary noticed she didn't like the food but was forcing herself to eat to fill her stomach. Feeling sorry, he said, "You have to stay here for a while. Eating this every day won't do. How about I hire a chef? It's close to where your competition is. After a few days, you can move back home."

"No need. It's just over a month. I can endure it."

For now, it was just breakfast that didn't suit her taste. She could eat more at lunch. There was no need to make special arrangements, especially since they couldn't leave the designated area during the competition. This was the first time this type of competition was being held in the industry, so she wasn't clear on all the rules.

Zachary took the opportunity to hold her hand, massaging her sore fingers. "But I feel bad for you."

Winona hadn't spoken to him since she woke up, not even wanting to sit with him for breakfast. The only reason she responded earlier was probably to prevent him from making arrangements without her consent.

"Feel bad for me?" Winona glanced at him, her tone cold and sarcastic. "Last night, when I said I couldn't take it anymore, where was your sympathy then?"

Luckily, she didn't need to use her hands for any delicate work today. Otherwise, she might not even be able to hold her tools.

Zachary coughed awkwardly. In that situation, it wasn't something he could control. But now wasn't the time to argue. Winning the argument would mean losing his wife. "I'm sorry. I promise I won't let you get so tired next time."

His sincere attitude and apologetic look didn't fool Winona at all. She scoffed, "Liar."

Last night, when she was begging him to stop, he was so smug. Not only did he not feel sorry, but he also moved even more vigorously, almost wanting her to praise him. The more exhausted she was, the more he felt accomplished.

Men's words are all lies.

Zachary looked at the dark circles under Winona's eyes, genuinely feeling sorry. "I promise, next time I won't be so out of control."

After breakfast, they headed downstairs.

Zachary had switched to a seven-seater van. Winona knew he was going to be their driver today, so when he opened the passenger door for her, she wasn't surprised. She even forgot that this was supposed to be a surprise he had planned for her.

The car was cold at first, but soon warmed up. The stereo played Aetherian songs she couldn't understand. The gentle swaying of the car made her drowsy, and she quickly fell asleep.

Zachary was eagerly waiting for Winona to ask why he had changed the car, but she slept all the way to the hotel.

Watching her peaceful sleeping face, Zachary let out a long sigh, feeling frustrated but unable to wake her up.

Winona wasn't in a deep sleep. When the back door opened, she woke up, looked outside in confusion, and greeted her colleagues in the back seat. "Morning."

Zachary asked, "Where to?"

The team leader, who was admiring the leather seats and wondering how many years of work it would take to afford such a car, reflexively gave an address. He was puzzled, though, since the itinerary had been sent to Zachary the night before.

Zachary glanced at Winona in the passenger seat.

Winona was texting Rebecca. Noticing his gaze, she looked back at him, confused.

Zachary pursed his lips. The longer she stayed silent, the more aggrieved he looked.

Winona suddenly realized and feigned surprise. "You're driving today?"

Indeed, they were a perfect match. Both had poor memories, but their excellence despite that was impressive.

The team leader, feeling a bit foolish, blurted out, "Windy, you forgot, too? I told you last night, Mr. Bailey is driving us for the next two days..."

Halfway through, he wanted to slap himself. Why was he interrupting their conversation? He had really been out of it these past few days.

Zachary's cold laugh was particularly meaningful, though it was unclear who it was directed at.

Zachary didn't speak again until they reached their destination. As they got out, Winona, making sure no one was watching, lightly scratched his palm with her finger. "Thank you."

Zachary was only driving because of her.

A smile instantly spread across Zachary's face, like ice melting. He held her hand, frowning. "Your hand is too cold."

Winona replied, "I'm not cold."

Everyone else was already heading towards the museum, so she quickly followed.

She thought Zachary was just driving, but he followed them into the museum.

Winona said, "I'm working. Why are you following me? It's not good for my colleagues to see."

"I'm your driver for the next two days. You can't expect me to sit in the car all day, can you?"

"Then go explore on your own."

"I don't understand anything."

Winona fell silent.

Zachary just followed behind, not making any extra moves or talking much. Winona decided to ignore him.

After over an hour, Zachary went to the restroom.

Winona didn't think much of it, but when he didn't return for over half an hour, she started to worry. She called him.

Zachary was silent for a long time. "Which hall are you in?"
