Chapter 476 Increase the Dosage

When Samuel spotted Zachary, he saw him slumped on a bench outside the hospital, head back and eyes half-closed. The hustle and bustle around them was overwhelming.

Samuel frowned as he walked over and plopped down next to Zachary, impatiently asking, "Why the heck did you pick a hospital to meet?"

Zachary didn't budge, his voice weak. "I’ve got a fever."

Samuel scooted away, disgusted. "If you’ve got a fever, go see a doctor. Why are you just sitting here? Waiting for it to magically go away?"

Zachary sighed, "Go get an appointment with the OB-GYN."

Samuel was visibly annoyed. "I'm not pregnant! Why would I see an OB-GYN? Have you ever seen a grown man go to that department?"

Zachary explained, "I read online that a pregnant belly shows at four months, but Winona's stomach is still flat. I'm worried something's wrong with the baby. The Bailey Group's been in a rough spot, and people will definitely target her. The stress, poor diet, and lack of sleep are tough on anyone, let alone a kid. It's awkward for me to ask, so you go."

Samuel looked at Zachary's anxious face, feeling exasperated. "Ever think her stomach's flat because she's not pregnant?" he said.

Zachary shot back, "Impossible. I saw her shopping at a maternity store. Who does that if they're not pregnant?"

Besides, if she wasn't pregnant, his leverage would be gone.

Samuel said, "Didn't you also go shopping there?"

Zachary replied proudly, "I'm the father. Isn't it natural for me to shop at a maternity store?"

Samuel bluntly said, "You're not. Right now, you're Nicholas, the Bailey family's arch-enemy."

Zachary retorted, "Are you stupid? Why bring up hurtful stuff? Just make the appointment and stop talking. No wonder Julia doesn't want you; I wouldn't either."

Samuel was so angry he laughed. He had been worried Zachary would be devastated when he found out Winona wasn't pregnant. As a friend, Samuel thought he should give Zachary a heads-up.

Now it seemed hinting was useless; a hard hit might be better.

"Fine, I'll go ask for you," Samuel said, standing up and looking down at Zachary. Noticing his listless state, Samuel couldn't help but show some concern. "Go see a doctor and get some meds. Don't die on me. You're only thirty and already so weak, getting fevers all the time. If you don't take care of yourself, you'll be in a coffin before you're forty."

Zachary ignored him and replied, "You don't get it. If I weren't sick, this whole hospital thing would be exposed."

Samuel asked, "What did the Ramsey family offer you that you're going to such lengths to help them? Even using the Bailey family as a stepping stone."

Given the Ramsey family's previous situation, if Zachary hadn't taken over, they would have likely declared bankruptcy by now.

Zachary replied, "This has nothing to do with the Ramsey family. The real force behind the Ramsey Group isn't the family anymore. Someone's targeting the Bailey family, and Wyatt has rented out the Ramsey Group's shell to that person as a weapon against us. I'm pretending to be Nicholas to bait that person out."If the opponent were openly competing with him in business, Zachary wouldn't be worried. But this person was like a rat in the gutter, always hiding in the shadows.

He had no idea how many spies the enemy had planted around him or when they might strike to hurt the people he cared about.

The snake that showed up at the old house last time was one of their dirty tricks.

Zachary continued, "Samuel, if I want to convince that person I'm Nicholas, I can't keep the Bailey Group safe. I need you to help me buy some time."

Samuel snorted and headed upstairs.

Of course, he wasn't actually going to ask a doctor for Zachary. He hung out in the stairwell for a bit, had a ten-minute phone call with Julia, and then went back down.

Zachary was still on the bench, same position. Hearing the familiar footsteps, he quickly asked, "What did the doctor say?"

He didn't want to be too obvious, knowing there might be spies among the patients.

Samuel made something up on the spot. "Malnutrition, eat more."

Zachary frowned. "Did you really ask? Anything else?"

Samuel replied, "The doctor said a bunch of technical stuff I didn't get!"

Zachary looked at him disdainfully. "Forget it. No point talking to someone without a wife. You can go now."

This situation could only be detected when a pregnant woman came for a check-up; asking Samuel was pointless.

But Winona was indeed too thin; she needed to eat more.

Samuel didn't even bother to snort this time, thinking dealing with this fool was a waste of time.

Yet Zachary thought, 'Samuel must be jealous that I'm going to be a dad before he is.'

After Samuel left, Zachary casually got an appointment with a doctor who wasn't busy and got some fever medicine.

Meanwhile, Timothy was also seeing a doctor, but he was at the psychologist Dr. Wilson's office.

Dr. Wilson said, "Timothy, your insomnia is a minor issue. Regular exercise, relaxation, and some medication will fix it soon."

But Timothy wasn't worried about himself. "Dr. Wilson, my brother seems to be remembering his past. Is there any way to make him forget again?" he asked.

He wasn't stupid; Nicholas's attitude towards Winona was clearly off.

Dr. Wilson shook his head. "Based on Mr. Ramsey's recent check-ups, he shouldn't have remembered anything."

Timothy's lips curled into a cold, sinister smile. "What if he's faking it?" he asked.

Dr. Wilson responded, "If that's the case, there's nothing we can do. Hypnosis can only be done once, and only when the person is at their most vulnerable. If we try again, he'll be on guard."

Timothy's smile faded. "What if we increase the dosage? That drug is meant to erase memories, right? If we up the dosage, won't he forget everything? Then we could hypnotize him again and implant the memories I want him to have."

Dr. Wilson remarked, "That drug is effective but has severe side effects. Too much of it can make him an idiot. Even if you implant memories, he'll still be a fool."

Timothy was silent for a while. Just when Dr. Wilson thought Timothy was going to give up, he said, "That's fine. I need his body; even if he's a fool, as long as he obeys. Dr. Wilson, is there a more effective drug?"
