Chapter 42 No Chance of Divorce Papers

"Leave me alone," Winona's trembling voice was feeble as she spoke, "If you bother me again, I will post our marriage certificate online and let the whole world know that Fiona is a home-wrecker."

Listening to this threat, Zachary only sneered, "Aren't you the one who brought up the divorce first?"

"That's because she intervened first."

Unfazed, his expression unchanged, Zachary spoke in a casual tone, "Then you can forget about the divorce papers."

Threatening him only led to being threatened in return. Winona despised this bastard's innate ability to suppress her. She hadn't been happy since being with him.

Zachary massaged the woman's delicate fingers and examined them before giving his diagnosis, "Not broken."

"You wish it was," Winona's painful cold sweat broke out.

"Not exactly, but if you dare to claim Matthew's 300 million dollars, I won't just wish for it to break. I will personally snap it in half."

"You're ridiculous!" Winona pushed him away. This time, Zachary didn't stop her and let her leave the car, walking away with big strides...

From that night of parting on an unhappy note, Winona and Zachary never contacted each other again.

However, in real life, although she didn't see him in person, there were always reports about Zachary in financial news.

She knew he went to Zeeland, where he stayed for almost half a month.

In early October, Fiona's painting was finally restored. Winona called her professionally, saying, "Miss Clark, your painting has been repaired. When are you available for a meeting?"

"I am currently in Zeeland and unsure when I'll be back. I'll let you know once I return," Fiona's voice on the phone was gentle yet carried a trace of imperceptible disdain. It wasn't aimed at Winona, but because of her newfound noble identity, everyone was trying to please her, which shaped her character.

"Okay," Winona replied.

After hanging up the phone, her mind began to wander... Zachary was in Zeeland, and Fiona was also in Zeeland. It couldn't be just a coincidence, right?

Why bother with a sweet rendezvous in different places? It would be better to get divorced early and move on to the next marriage.

She glanced at the calendar again. After Lydia's birthday, their three-year contract would have less than a month left. Zachary shouldn't delay their divorce any longer.

With this thought in mind, the exhaustion from working late nights for consecutive days seemed to ease a little. Originally tired and sleepy, she laid down after taking a shower...

On the bed, she couldn't find any trace of drowsiness. She opened Facebook and casually scrolled through it. She came across a picture of a dog, saved it without much thought, and then added a cartoon poop picture to create a combined post with the caption, "A match made in heaven."

As soon as she posted it, someone commented. It was Rebecca; "Dear, why don't you just directly mention someone's name?"

Winona couldn't help but burst out laughing. Before she could finish laughing, Rebecca started a video call, "Is that idiot Zachary going to see Fiona again?"

"Not sure, but Fiona is in Zeeland and so is he, so they are probably together."

"It's true that a tiger doesn't change its stripes. Just how amazing is Fiona to keep Zachary's heart longing for her all these years?" Rebecca rolled her eyes.

"Why do I feel like you're also insulting me?" Winona teased.

"How is that possible? My sweetheart is so good, it's Zachary's fault." Rebecca quickly blew a kiss.

They chatted a bit more but realized it was getting late as they both had work the next day, so they ended the call.

Winona slept well that night, not even having a single dream.

The next morning, she habitually checked WhatsApp and saw that someone had replied to her previous Status. Surprisingly, one of the replies was from Zachary, "Winona, you're asking for trouble."

Winona couldn't believe it. The busy CEO, someone like Zachary, actually took the time to scroll through her Status, not to mention replying. It was completely opposite to his usual indifferent and proud demeanor.

Although her Status was referring to him and Fiona, she expressed it quite subtly. How did he understand what she wanted to say?

He must feel guilty and that's why he is assuming everything is directed at him.

Just because he has free time doesn't mean she does too. They were about to get a divorce anyway, so there was no need to be aggressive. She decided not to reply to his comment.

October 17th was Lydia's birthday, and Fiona contacted her on October 13th. They agreed to meet near the hotel where Fiona was staying.

Fiona wore a resort-style long dress, made of delicate chiffon fabric with intricate hollow patterns on the back. She had a well-applied makeup and her oversized sunglasses almost covered half of her face.

"Winona, I hope it wasn't too much trouble for you to come all this way? I just arrived and didn't want to go back and forth since I'm so tired." Fiona had her luggage next to her, she must have contacted Winona as soon as she got off the plane.

Winona showed no expression on her face and maintained a professional attitude, "You're the client, so it's up to you to decide where to meet. Besides, transportation expenses are included in the money you paid."

Fiona's face stiffened as she realized she had paid several times more than the market price. She was extremely unhappy about it!

If it weren't for the lack of time and no one willing to take on this job, would she be taken advantage of by someone like Windy?

It wasn't until Winona spoke up in front of Windy that she charged such a high price.

But now that the painting has been repaired, it doesn't really matter anymore.

Winona pushed the box containing the antique painting in front of Fiona. "Take a look. If there are no issues, then you can settle the final payment."

Fiona yawned, looking exhausted. "No need to look. I trust you."

Fiona took out her phone and promptly transferred the money to Winona.

However, Winona solemnly reminded her, "Once the painting is in your hands, whether you look at it or not, we assume that you have seen it. If there are any problems later on, we won't take responsibility. Antique paintings are fragile and should be kept in a dry place, away from any moisture. I included a set of instructions for preservation inside. Take a good look when you get back."

Fiona's painting had too many traces of damage, which made Winona feel heartbroken during the restoration process. It was such a waste for such a renowned painting to be passed down like this. Although it had been repaired, it could never compare to the original work.

Upon hearing Winona's words, Fiona was about to open the box and take a look, but her phone rang at that moment.

After glancing at the caller ID, Fiona immediately withdrew her hand from the box and answered the call, saying to Winona, "I understand. Thank you."

Fiona picked up the things on the table and dragged her suitcase, ready to leave.

As she spoke into the phone, Winona heard her say, "I'll be back to the room right away. I think I was too rushed while packing, so I accidentally put your belongings with mine."

The voice, different from its usual arrogance, now carried a soft and tender femininity.

Without needing to think, Winona knew that the person on the other end of the phone had an intimate relationship with Fiona. Her first thought was Zachary...
