Chapter 421 Make Me a Cup of Coffee

Dylan didn't show up until Nicholas had already left. Earlier, Winona had told him to wait downstairs, so he was chilling in the car.

Dylan, looking puzzled, said, "Mrs. Bailey, I noticed Mr. Ramsey didn't seem too happy when he left. Did you guys have a fight or something?"

Winona was sitting in the booth, looking a bit tired. The waiter had already cleaned up the messy table.

Winona replied, "No way. I came here to patch things up between our families and even brought him a gift. He was probably just shocked by my politeness and got a little too excited."

Dylan stayed quiet, finding it hard to believe.

"What about the bidding? What's Mr. Ramsey's take on it?"

"He's dead set on seeing it through."

Dylan glanced at Winona, hesitated a bit, and then said, "Are you sure Mr. Ramsey isn't Mr. Bailey? Even though their styles are different, I can't shake the feeling he knows Bailey Group too well. Whether it's the pricing or the proposals, he always seems to perfectly counter Bailey Group. Once or twice could be a coincidence, but for the past two months, every time our companies have competed, it's been the same."

Too many coincidences made people suspicious.

He knew Bailey Group so well, looked so similar, and his disappearance and reappearance times matched up perfectly—anyone would start to wonder.

Winona shook her head and said, "I'm not sure yet."

Dylan wanted to ask more but didn't want to bring up painful memories for Winona, so he changed the subject and said, "The Butler Family is hosting a dinner tonight at Spring Delight."

Winona frowned slightly and said, "Tonight?"

Dylan thought she didn't want to go and said, "We are in a cooperative phase right now. We need to keep up appearances."

"Prepare a gift for me. It's Matthew's birthday today."

The restaurant Matthew was hosting the dinner at was also Spring Delight, and many people were invited, including Rebecca, who wasn't very close to him. She could give Dylan the gift then and skip the dinner herself.

Dylan had often done such things for Zachary before, so it wasn't a problem for him.

At Spring Delight.

Charles had his eyes on Winona from the moment she walked in. "This is a business dinner, Miss Sullivan. You see, Mr. Collins and I are drinking. It's not very sociable of you to just sit there. I'll down mine, and you can just take a sip."

When Zachary was still the CEO of Bailey Group, he wouldn't have dared to say such things. That man was formidable, and Bailey Group under his leadership was a peak that others could only look up to.

But now, Evander was old. Winona, despite being the eldest daughter of Turner Family and Zachary's ex-wife, was just an artisan. What tricks could she possibly play in the cutthroat business world?

It wasn't long before the Bailey Group underwent a major change.

Winona was beautiful and elegant, with smooth, glowing skin that made people happy just to look at her.

But no matter how bold one's thoughts, they could only admire from afar, not daring to act rashly.

After all, Bailey Group hadn't undergone a major change, and it could still crush him easily.

"Charles," Dylan said, pressing down on his hand with two fingers as he was about to pour the drink. He kept a respectful but firm tone, "Mrs. Bailey is pregnant and shouldn't drink. I'll drink with you."

Charles met Dylan's gaze and immediately backed off.

Even though the door to the private room was open, it was still a bit stuffy with so many people. Winona stood up and said, "Excuse me, I need to use the restroom."

She had planned to go to the second floor to give Matthew his gift, but she hadn't walked far before she ran into him by chance.

The man was standing there smoking, his eyes slightly downcast, looking desolate. Even the warm light couldn't chase away the deep melancholy that seemed to seep from his bones.

Matthew was always gentle and soft-spoken. She had never seen him look so troubled.

"Matthew?"

Matthew was smoking. Hearing her voice, he quickly put out the cigarette. Seeing her walking towards him, he said calmly, "I smell like smoke. Don't come any closer."

Winona stopped and said, "Isn't your private room on the second floor?"

"Just came down to use the restroom," Matthew looked at her, and when he felt the smoke smell had dissipated enough, he walked over and said with a gentle smile, "Business dinner?"

"Yes."

She had texted him about it in the afternoon.

Matthew asked, "How are you going at Bailey Group?"

Winona wanted to lie and say she was fine, but looking into Matthew's serious gaze, she found it hard to hide the truth. Even the smile she wore like a mask wavered a bit.

Winona replied, "It's okay. I'll get used to it."

"I'm now the general manager of Watson Group. I can make a lot of decisions for the company."

"Got a promotion! That's worth celebrating," she said, realizing that the birthday party was also a promotion celebration, which explained why even Rebecca, who wasn't very close to him, was invited. She took out the gift Dylan had prepared from her bag and handed it to him, saying, "Happy birthday, and congratulations on the promotion."

Matthew took it and casually asked, "What is it?"

"I don't know. Open it and see. I had Dylan prepare it for me. If you don't like it, I'll get you something else," Winona said candidly, without any hesitation or ambiguity that might lead to misunderstandings.

Matthew paused in his unwrapping and didn't continue, saying, "Thank you."

Having delivered the gift and achieved her purpose, Winona was ready to return to the private room. The Butler Family members were still there, and it wouldn't be good to leave them waiting too long.

"Winona," Matthew called her, looking at her seriously, "I'm not telling you this to show off. I just want to say that I can help you now. I won't let you fall into the same situation as four years ago. If you encounter any difficulties, you can come to me anytime, including matters related to Bailey Group."

This row was all private rooms, and the lively atmosphere inside made the hallway seem very quiet.

Standing in the elegant and luxurious hallway of a five-star restaurant, under soft lighting, looking at each other, they seemed like a couple ready for a wedding photo shoot.

Just as Winona was about to speak, a familiar voice came from the adjacent hallway, "Waiter, bring me a cup of coffee."
