Chapter 80 Sleeping in His Bed

Winona's arrogant demeanor was suddenly diminished by half, but she still wouldn't back down. "You have to stay no matter what. Doctor, please write the prescription."

She had originally thought that Zachary's personality would surely cause some trouble, but he just sat there quietly without saying a word.

The admission office was not crowded, so Winona quickly returned with the prescription.

The hospital room was in the building behind, and it was a private room.

Winona said, "Shall I arrange for a nurse for you?"

"I'm not used to being stared at by strangers when I sleep."

"Well, I'll have him guard the door. Just call him if you need anything," Winona yawned, feeling a bit tired.

Zachary gave her a cold glance. "You think I have the energy to call someone when I have a concussion?"

Winona retorted impatiently, "Just because you have a concussion doesn't mean you are mute..."

Before she could finish her sentence, a voice from outside the door interrupted, "Zachary."

It was Lydia.

She looked at the bandage on Zachary's forehead and, confirming what Brian had said, that there were no other injuries, frowned and scolded, "As an adult, you still manage to fall while walking? Can't you be more careful?"

Zachary replied, "Did Brian tell you I was in the hospital?"

At this hour, Lydia would usually be asleep.

"You have the nerve to say that? I called you multiple times and no one answered. I was so worried. If it wasn't for a friend of mine who works at this hospital and happened to see you, I wouldn't have known you were hospitalized. I saw Brian downstairs. Not telling me something this big means no bonus for this month."

Relieved to see Zachary, Lydia said, "Winona, thank you for taking care of him tonight."

The way Lydia treated Winona compared to how she treated Zachary was like night and day.

Winona couldn't refuse; otherwise, Lydia would definitely sense their disagreement. "Alright, Mom. Let me escort you downstairs. It's late, and you need rest."

They walked hand-in-hand like a mother and daughter, leaving Zachary alone in the hospital room.

"Winona, when are you and Zachary planning to have a child? It's about time..." Lydia, afraid that Winona would think she was forcing the issue, quickly added, "It's not good for women to have children when they're older; it's easier to have complications."

Winona hesitated, thinking about how to gently remind Lydia about her and Zachary's plan to get a divorce.

But Lydia changed the topic, "How is the medicine from last time working? If you've finished it, I'll ask the doctor to prescribe some more."

Winona couldn't bring herself to openly discuss the effectiveness of such medication with her elder.

The elevator arrived, and Lydia smiled, "Alright, go back. I can go down by myself."

If it were before, Winona would definitely accompany her, but now she was afraid that Lydia would continue the previous topic. She said a quick "Be careful on your way" and turned back to the hospital room.

Zachary was sitting on the hospital bed, looking at his phone, probably dealing with work matters. Winona went to the bathroom to freshen up, then came out and laid down on the nearby visitor's bed, dutifully playing the role of a tool.

At this hour, aside from the nurses on duty, everyone else was almost asleep, and silence enveloped the hospital room.

In the drowsiness, Zachary's voice came up, "I want some water."

Winona had no intention of getting up as she faced away from him.

"You have a forehead injury, not a severed hand," the woman behind her thought in silence. Winona thought he had calmed down and was about to close her eyes and fall asleep again when Zachary's voice came through once more, "I feel suffocated in the chest, go open the window."

This time, Winona reacted.

She turned around, half propping her body up to look at him with a fierce expression, accompanied by a gleaming mockery. "It has nothing to do with opening the window, you just want to boss me around, don't you? Dream on."

This time, Zachary stayed completely silent.

He didn't disturb her until Winona fell asleep, but perhaps due to having slept late, being emotionally affected by the events of the night, and being in a bad mood, she had a nightmare.

She dreamt that she was being chased by a monster and no matter where she hid, it could find her. The monster stared at her intensely, its wall like arms squeezing her almost unable to breathe. Finally, just as the disfigured face approached her neck, the monster turned into Zachary!

Winona gasped for breath and woke up in an instant!

As soon as she opened her eyes, she met the flawless face of the man, still asleep. The sharp contours of his brows and eyes, usually fierce, softened due to sleep.

Outside, daylight had already brightened the sky. Zachary turned his body away from the window, and the bright light shone through from outside, casting a faint shadow on his eyelids.

Winona couldn't remember how long it had been since she had looked at this face up close. From the perspective of an admirer, it was indeed a perfectly captivating face.

She got lost in her thoughts...

The man in front of her opened his eyes and that sharp and fierce look returned to his face.

Winona instantly snapped back to reality. The unpleasant memory from last night rushed over her, and she pushed Zachary away with anger all over her face. "When did you come to my bed while I was sleeping?"

She got out of the bed and then was shocked to find out that it wasn't Zachary who had slept on her bed, but she had slept on Zachary's bed!

Winona widened her eyes in astonishment. "You actually took advantage of me while I was asleep and brought me to your bed, Zachary. How disgusting can you get? Are you always lusting after me?"

The man glanced at her and sneered.

When Winona sat up, she also uncovered the blanket. Zachary was lying flat on his back with his shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing his strong and muscular forearms with refined lines. There was a bloody bite mark on them.

Winona didn't understand. Was this person mentally disturbed? Did she bite his arm, and so hard?

When Zachary saw her staring at his arm, he lifted it and presented the wound in front of her. "What's the matter? Do you want a close-up look at your masterpiece? Winona, are you a dog or something? You not only sleepwalked in the middle of the night but also bit someone. I told you to roll off the bed, but you still clung to it."

Winona had no idea what he was talking about. She only remembered being chased by a monster in her dream and running all night.

And she didn't sleepwalk at all, let alone bite anyone.

Maybe she sleepwalked into his bed and got attached to him.

But seeing Zachary's self-righteous and accusing appearance, and the unhealed bite marks on his arms, she became uncertain again.

Seeing her hesitating, the man sneered, "Amnesia? Should I ask the doctor to pull up the surveillance footage and show you how shamelessly you crawled into my arms last night?"
