Chapter 253 Mixing Business With Pleasure

"No, go ahead, come back a bit earlier."

Just before Winona hesitated to speak, Matthew watched closely, knowing she might be busy later.

"Then I shall return to pack my belongings." That was Winona's initial intention as well, and now that her wish had come true, she graciously accepted without any pretense.

Matthew rose from his seat, retrieved the car keys from the drawer, and stated, "Let's depart. I will escort you back, and then we can head directly to the airport, as it conveniently lies on our route."

As they exited the company together, Zachary swiftly concluded his affairs just after their departure.

After the last incident, everyone in the project department recognized his face. When they saw him, without waiting for him to ask, they directly said, "Matthew and Winona are going to the airport."

During the work handover between Matthew and the assistant manager just now, they have overheard a bit.

"To the airport?"

Zachary looked at her. How could a girl in her twenties withstand such a strong, oppressive gaze? Immediately, she said, "They are going to see the recently popular street in Mode City, the attraction themed around the Alexander Dynasty."

Let them fight it out among themselves. she couldn't handle it.

"Just the two of them?"

"Just the two of them tonight, tomorrow..."

Before the sentence was finished, Zachary had already turned around with a stern face and walked away quickly.

Her heart, once soaring, plummeted. This kind of love was too intense for an ordinary person like her. She couldn't bear it. A single glance from him was enough to undo her.

The plane landed at Mode City International Airport at almost midnight.

Seeing her looking tired, Matthew said, "It's too late now. There probably won't be many people there if we go now. Let's go to the hotel first and rest. Tomorrow, when everyone is there, we can go together."

Winona checked the time. It was indeed a bit late. Traveling from the airport to the city center would take quite a while.

However, the hotel they booked was nearby, so she could get a glimpse while sitting in the car.

"Okay."

The driver arranged by Matthew had arrived. The late-night airport expressway was deserted, and the night view was monotonous.

Winona couldn't hold on for long and fell asleep completely in the car, only waking up when they reached the hotel entrance.

She turned her head to look out the window, the bright lights of the hotel lobby making her squint with red eyes just awakened. Still groggy, it took her a while to remember where she was, "Where is the Eirondia Avenue?"

Matthew restrained the urge to reach out and tidy up her slightly messy hair due to static electricity.

"It's very late, and most of the shops are closed. It's dark, and you can't see much, so I didn't call you."

The driver sat quietly in the front, listening to his boss talking nonsense with his eyes open.

They had just passed by a bustling area, filled with people, bright lights, open shops, and street performances. You'd never guess it was the early, quiet hours of the morning.

Matthew said, "Have a good rest tonight and enjoy the whole day inside tomorrow. There's plenty for you to see. No rush for this night."

Winona nodded and got out of the car.

The cool breeze blew in, instantly dispelling the remnants of sleepiness.

Although the hotel was a five-star one, it was still a bit far away from the bustling area, hence devoid of the bustling vibrancy that defines the area nearby.

Not far away, a person who was on the phone casually turned his head and happened to see Winona's face. After a slight pause, he said something seriously into the phone.

The hotel had been pre-booked, and Winona just needed to register her information. As she was still in the process, another guest arrived.

There was only one person on duty at the front desk at the moment. In such situations, people usually stand behind, waiting for the person in front to finish before approaching.

However, this person rudely leaned on the counter as soon as he arrived, almost half of his body leaning in, staring at the staff working. "Are there any rooms left?"

After asking, he turned to Winona, showing his yellowed teeth stained by smoking. "Winona, what a beautiful name you have. My daughter's name also contains 'wino.'"

Despite his excessive enthusiasm, his smile lacked any hint of lewdness, and his inquiries were appropriate. Yet Winona found herself inexplicably uneasy in his presence.

Matthew reached out and put his hand on her shoulder, pulling her to the other side, and stood next to the man. "Sorry, my sister is a bit shy."

The man didn't say anything; he just smiled and turned his head back.

After completing the check-in procedures, they went upstairs. The two rooms were next to each other. Matthew waited for her to open the door before instructing.
"Lock the door at night, call me if anything happens, or knock on the wall hard. I should be able to hear it."

"Okay."

Winona washed up and went to bed as soon as she returned to her room. The five-star hotel's soundproofing was very good.

Even though the floor wasn't high, she couldn't hear the traffic noise downstairs, and she spent a quiet night.

The next day, at ten o'clock, Rex and two other colleagues also arrived. After a simple meal, they went to the Eirondia Avenue.

During the daytime, Eirondia Avenue appeared largely deserted, with the shops standing idle.

Nevertheless, individuals present focused intently on the facade designs and specific elements.

They engaged in conversation while jotting down notes, and they later convened for a meeting at a nearby café in the afternoon.

As night fell after dinner, Eirondia Avenue burst into vibrant life.

Positioned amidst the busiest stretch of the street, various carts offered local delicacies while artisans showcased handcrafted trinkets on either side of the cobblestone pavement.

At intersections, acrobats mesmerized the crowd, and actors cloaked as jesters enthralled children with their magical performances.

At the disguised portrait photography studio, staff actively sought patrons, enticing them with the proposition. "Yearning to embody the visage of King Alexander? Our establishment boasts the most skilled stylists and photographers in the realm!"

Matthew put his arm around Winona's shoulder, protecting her in a safe zone where no one would bump into her. Seeing her turn her head to look at the card in the person's hand, he smiled and asked, "Want to get a makeover and take a few pictures?"

Winona shook her head. "No, I'm working. You're the boss, leading the employees to mix business with pleasure, not afraid of the company losing money."

Matthew gestured around and said, "Everyone else has already disappeared, and it's so noisy around here. Even if I wanted to have a meeting, you wouldn't hear what I'm saying."

Not far away, Zachary watched Winona being jostled by the crowd and bumping into Matthew from time to time, his face was dark.

"What kind of inspection is this? It's clearly mixing business with pleasure. Which company sends its employees on a business trip and dismisses everyone else, leaving only a man and a woman alone?"

Dylan was already numb.

He pondered, ‘Mr. Bailey, when it comes to mixing business with pleasure, you are not any better. Weren't we here to discuss cooperation? I've been following you back and forth in this street for four or five rounds.’

Winona was enjoying herself but suddenly caught sight of something out of the corner of her eye.

She halted, then quickly turned, her face changing dramatically. Recognizing the sight, she ran towards it without hesitation.
