Chapter 21 Come with Me To Return Party Tonight
Zachary hung up the call, opened the door, and took the clothes from the manager, tossing them to Winona.
She took the bag and went to the bathroom, and Zachary's voice came through the door again, "Mom will undergo a detailed examination at the hospital later, come with me."
"I have to go to work," she also worried about Lydia's condition, but if she took leave right after starting at the studio, it would create a bad impression, "Let me know when the results come out."
Zachary looked at her receding figure and coldly said, "For your cleaning job, you ignore even Mom's health?"
Winona continued walking without explaining the cleaning job, "In a couple of days, I'll start calling her Aunt."
She spoke the truth, but in Zachary's ears, it translated to; "We are getting divorced, and it has nothing to do with her mother's situation."
During this period, Winona would always bring up the word "divorce" whenever she saw him. Now, Zachary impatiently frowned and sarcastically remarked, "She spent the past three years raising a dog. Now it won't leave her side and wags its tail."
Hearing this, Winona turned her head back, not understanding where he got the audacity to accuse her of ingratitude. Lydia's health has been poor, and she's been the one signing documents every time they went to the hospital. She's been taking care of everything, while Zachary, her own son, hasn't been home at all.
With a cold gaze, she replied to Zachary, "Yes, you're right. Even a dog knows how to wag its tail. I've cooked meals for you for three years, but it's still less rewarding than raising a dog."
Zachary thought to himself, This woman is always quick to draw conclusions!
Winona opened the door and left the suite directly. After leaving the club, she took a taxi to View Studio.
On her way, she called Rebecca to ask about the condition, "Are your injuries okay?"
Last night, Tim didn't hold back with his kicks. Every blow landed solidly on the person, looking quite terrifying.
Rebecca took a deep breath and gritted her teeth, "The doctor said he has fractured a bone and needs time to recover. I must sue him. But getting surveillance footage from the Night Club might be difficult."
Winona replied, "You should first ask the doctor for a medical report, and I'll figure out the rest."
Rebecca didn't want Winona to go through any trouble for her. "Forget it. Even if I really sue him, he'll only be detained for a maximum of ten days or half a month. I'll find another way to deal with that bastard. It's definitely not the first time he's tried to rape a woman. I'll look for other evidence."
Winona, feeling down, leaned against the car window. "Rebecca, I'm sorry for dragging you into this."
"Don't talk about being dragged into it. I should thank you for giving me the opportunity to rid society of harm."
They chatted for a while until the car stopped at the entrance of View Studio. Winona hung up the phone.
As soon as she arrived at her desk, Mr. Baker called her into his office, "Windy, come here."
Confused, Winona walked in.
"Allow me to introduce Miss Fiona to you. She wants you to help restore an ancient painting, and the price is up to you."
Winona followed Mr. Baker's indication and looked over. Fiona was sitting on the couch, wearing sunglasses, a fisherman's hat, and a black sun-blocking mask, exuding an air of coldness.
When she heard the name "Windy", she raised her head but frowned upon seeing Winona enter. The disappointment in her eyes was evident. "I apologize, Mr. Baker, but you seem to have misunderstood me. I'm looking for someone else, not her. I'm searching for the renowned 'Windy' in the industry known for her exceptional restoration skills."
Mr. Baker was taken aback for a moment, and Winona also needed a few seconds to react. Fiona came to find 'Windy'?
"My painting is severely damaged, and it's not something an ordinary apprentice can restore. I had the pleasure of seeing a calligraphy restored by Windy before, and it was truly astonishing! But the person is very mysterious, and I haven't been able to find her whereabouts and identity. I thought you might know, so I came to trouble you to help me get in touch."
Mr. Baker finally realized Fiona's misunderstanding, but as she was relying on his personal relationship, he kindly explained, "She is..."
"Mr. Baker," Winona interjected at the right moment, "the restoration of antiques relies on fate. Since I and Miss Fiona lack that connection, there's no need to force it."
Mr. Baker sensed the awkward atmosphere between the two and hesitated for a moment before nodding, "That's true."
Before Fiona could understand the meaning of their conversation, she saw Winona turn around and leave.
Quickly standing up, Fiona walked a few steps to catch up with Winona. "Winona, do you know that Matthew is hosting a banquet at River Garden tonight for cleansing?"
"I didn't know."
"Matthew, seriously?" Fiona's bag fell to the ground, and out slipped a black, embossed invitation. She bent down to pick it up, the movement appearing natural, as if it had been an accident.
"If you don't mind, come with me tonight. Matthew just returned to the country and has been busy. He might have forgotten..." Winona's expression remained indifferent as she calmly smiled at Fiona. "Miss Fiona, do you understand the meaning behind the 'and family' after the name on the invitation? Zachary and I are a married couple, so we only received two invitations. Is it that you don't know the proper etiquette, or is it how your family sends out invitations?"
