Chapter 37 Fiona's Fracture
Zachary looked at Winona's indifferent face, his eyebrows twitching with anger. He couldn't believe she had the audacity to threaten him.
But before he could say anything, Winona turned and walked away.
At the self-checkout counter, Winona bent down and picked up the items from the cart one by one, placing them on the counter. Zachary stood aside, carrying an air of arrogance, showing no intention of offering any help.
Winona didn't want to interact with him either. After all, scanning items wasn't physically demanding. She only glanced at him when she was paying, and happened to see his gaze falling on the condoms on the nearby shelf...
She said in a cold voice, "Disgusting."
Zachary didn't have any such thoughts, at least not at that moment. His gaze only happened to fall on them.
"Disgusting?" the man stared at her face, a smirk playing on his lips. "If finding this thing interesting is considered disgusting, then who between us is more disgusting? I only glanced at it, but you actually bought several boxes and brought them home."
His words were enough to attract the attention of people nearby. Winona's face instantly turned red, filled with embarrassment and anger.
That incident was a part of her unforgettable dark past, a constant reminder of how humiliated she felt when she had actively pursued love, only to be brutally rejected!
Because of this matter, Winona directly went to sit in the back seat when they returned home. As soon as the car stopped, she carried the groceries and headed to the kitchen.
Cooking was not difficult for her, but her mood wasn't good, so the taste would definitely be perfunctory.
Zachary looked at the table with only one set of bowls and cutlery and raised an eyebrow, asking, "You're not eating?"
Winona sarcastically replied, "I don't feel like eating because of you."
Without showing any anger as expected, Zachary pulled out a chair and sat down, instructing, "Go get another set of bowls and cutlery."
Winona frowned, unsure of how to respond for a moment.
With her eyebrows furrowed in annoyance, she said, "I'm not hungry, so you better eat quickly and talk about the matter at hand."
"If you don't eat, how would I know if you've poisoned the food?"
"You..."
Poisoning would be too much trouble; she wished she could twist his skull off with her bare hands right now!
In the end, with anger in her eyes, Winona stormed into the kitchen to grab a bowl and cutlery. In front of him, she tasted all the dishes. "Your Highness, are you satisfied now? Can you eat?"
Only then did Zachary begin to eat slowly and calmly. It had to be said, even though this person's words were malicious and his character terrible, his behavior and actions were truly elegant, pleasing like a performance.
Winona hadn't had much of an appetite earlier, but having some food in her stomach now made her realize she was hungry. She settled for eating a little.
Sensing that the taste wasn't good, Zachary barely touched his cutlery and set it down. Seeing this, Winona also set aside her bowl and cutlery.
"What exactly do you plan to do to let go of Rebecca?" she asked.
Zachary glanced at her, but asked about something else, "Do you really want a divorce?"
Winona didn't expect him to suddenly bring this up, but she hadn't even thought twice about getting a divorce. "Yes."
"Have you gathered enough money?" Zachary's mocking comment followed, "Or do you plan to delay and wait until you collect evidence of my infidelity so you can kick me out penniless?"
Winona furrowed her brow, "Do you still need evidence of your infidelity? You took Fiona to the hospital, drove her back to her residence late at night, and just a few days ago, you were staying at the same hotel as her... Who in the world doesn't know what's going on between you two?"
"All of those are baseless rumors from the media, Winona. You've been my wife for three years, at least think before you speak and don't act foolishly."
"Oh? Do you need me to show bed photos for you to admit it?"
The mention of "bed photos" made Zachary's face darkened abruptly. He coldly questioned, "Was that person really arranged by you?"
Winona didn't understand what he was talking about, which person... but it wasn't the time to be curious about these things. Rebecca's matter was important!
"I'm talking to you about Rebecca, don't digress."
However, Zachary continued to stare at her, word by word, "I'm asking you, was that person arranged by you? To monitor Fiona and me, to gather evidence of my infidelity and use it against me in a divorce trial?"
Winona was taken aback, but a few seconds later, she understood. She answered straightforwardly, "I didn't instruct anyone to monitor you, if you choose to believe me."
As she spoke, she caught another keyword, divorce trial... she did want one, but who would dare to take on such a case?
"But if I had known there were people who do that kind of work, maybe I should have done it."
Hearing her words, the anger that had been lingering in Zachary's heart for the past few days instantly dissipated. He knew it wouldn't be her.
Zachary reached out and held Winona's chin, leaning in close. With only a dining table separating them, his lips were almost touching the tip of her nose.
Zachary chuckled softly, "No need to go through all that trouble; if you want money to please me, all my assets will be yours."
His breath brushed past her.
Feeling the warmth of his breath on her face, Winona tilted her head, unsure of what he meant by his sudden action.
"Zachary, did Fiona reject you again and come here to seek excitement?" she asked.
The incident at the hotel three years ago happened to occur on the day after Fiona and Zachary broke up.
But even though he was already sober at that time and recognized her, he still ended up being intimate with her...
In the end, this man was just scum!
On one hand, he had deep feelings, but on the other hand, he wasn't willing to wait even three years. Just as Fiona went abroad, he took advantage of her vulnerability.
Zachary sneered, "Seeking excitement? Well, the condoms you previously bought are about to expire, so tonight is perfect for some excitement."
A buzzing sound filled Winona's mind as Zachary's lips drew closer. She couldn't tell if he was teasing or serious, so she instinctively stepped back.
But the man suddenly bypassed the dining table, leaned down, and picked her up horizontally. "What are you hiding from? You've been wanting this for three years, haven't you?"
Winona was already in a daze, fiercely struggling in his embrace, but she couldn't free herself. She was truly panicking...
Winona forced herself to stay calm, looking at the man who was now so close. She curved her lips with a hint of mockery and said, "Zachary, are you reluctant to divorce me?"
