Chapter 615 Want to Send Me to Jail
Winona was about to hang up the phone when she heard Anthony's voice in the background, "Reba, come eat."
She had met Anthony a few times before and always found him distant and aloof. She had never heard him speak so gently.
Rebecca noticed Winona's expression and knew she was getting the wrong idea. She snapped, "He's calling the dog, not me. Stop looking so curious."
"A dog named Reba? So, is this part of some game you guys are playing? Are you on that level now?"
"It's a long story. I'll fill you in next time we meet," Rebecca said, thinking about how the dog's name 'Reba' annoyed her, especially since her mom now called her that, making her feel like she was being called a dog.
Rebecca glanced at Anthony, who was nearby, bending over to pour dog food. As he moved, his shirt and trousers tightened, showing off his waistline and leg muscles. From his waist to his hips, then from his thighs to his ankles, the lines were straight and long, well-proportioned and powerful.
She licked her lips. Since they had already slept together once, would it matter if they did it again? One time versus two times didn't seem to make much difference. They were having a breakup dinner, so why not have breakup sex?
Her mind started flashing uncontrollable erotic images.
No, it still felt like a loss. Anthony's sexual prowess was lacking, and having sex with him would be a one-sided effort on her part. Would she have to rely on staring at his face and using her imagination to achieve physical satisfaction?
That would really test her imagination.
Winona didn't know what Rebecca was looking at, nor did she know the thoughts in her head that would shock her ancestors. Seeing her dazed, she asked, "What are you thinking?"
Rebecca lowered her voice, "Once this breakup dinner is over, I'll be free."
Winona asked, "Are you sure it's a breakup dinner? Not a trap Mr. Lewis set for you?"
Who has a breakup dinner at home? They weren't living together.
Her words made Rebecca's face turn dark with urgency, "Ugh, don't say that. Spit three times quickly. He said it's a breakup dinner; how it started is how it ends. After we eat, we'll go our separate ways."
"Are you drinking tonight?" Winona reminded her, "Your relationship started because you got drunk and had contract sex."
"No, I've quit drinking," Rebecca said, having not touched alcohol for a while. "I'll eat quickly and leave, not staying a minute longer."
They chatted for a bit more until Anthony called Rebecca to eat, and they reluctantly ended the video call.
Winona turned to Zachary, "Is Mr. Lewis really breaking up with Rebecca?"
She was worried Rebecca couldn't handle Anthony, and instead of having a breakup dinner, she might end up in a worse situation. But she didn't know Anthony well, so she asked Zachary.
"I don't know."
"Forget it, asking you is pointless. Your emotional intelligence is too low to guess Mr. Lewis's thoughts."
Zachary was silent.
The hurt and insult were strong.
Winona's disdain for Zachary was pretty upsetting. He pressed his lips together and said coldly, "If Rebecca really doesn't like Anthony and doesn't want to date him, she should just leave now, skip the breakup dinner, and never see or contact him again."
It sounded like Anthony was some kind of demon, a seductive incubus.
Winona was silent.
She wanted to call Rebecca, but thought it was inappropriate to badmouth Anthony in front of Zachary. So she sent Rebecca a message, relaying Zachary's words.
Rebecca replied with an "OK."
Anthony had excellent eyesight, and after reading so many documents, he had developed a habit of speed reading. He glanced at the message and caught most of its content.
He smiled slightly, "Want a drink?"
Rebecca looked up, meeting his smiling face. Anthony usually wore a stern expression, as if everyone owed him money. This smile was tempting, and she looked at the already opened bottle of red wine in his hand. "Sure, I'll have a glass."
She could drink three bottles of red wine without blinking, so one glass wouldn't get her drunk.
She hadn't had a drink in a while and was craving it.
Thinking of the word 'craving,' Rebecca's gaze involuntarily fell on Anthony's neck. He was still in formal attire, with his tie on, and the collar was right at his Adam's apple.
If he wore gold-rimmed glasses, he'd be the perfect image of a refined scoundrel.
Anthony poured her a glass of wine, noticing Rebecca staring at his neck. He loosened his tie and unbuttoned the top two buttons, revealing his sexy collarbone.
Rebecca rolled her eyes. "You're unbuttoning your shirt for dinner. Are you planning to strip after drinking?"
Anthony chuckled, "Ms. Davis, you've been sitting on the couch since you arrived. I've been cooking and feeding the dog nonstop. The floor heating is set to 82°F. Can't I feel hot? Be reasonable."
The last sentence carried a hint of helplessness.
Rebecca was silent.
She felt he was seducing her, speaking so intimately, but she had no proof. Feeling frustrated, she downed another glass of wine. "Anthony, we agreed that after tonight, we're breaking up."
"Can I ask why you're so against being with me?"
Anthony asked seriously, his deep eyes fixed on her. Rebecca, under his gaze, couldn't say the prepared lines. Those words were hurtful, and since Anthony started pursuing her, he hadn't done anything to harm her. Now that they were breaking up, there was no need to act like enemies.
She licked her lips. "I'm not against it."
Anthony pierced her excuse, "Since we started dating, you haven't fulfilled any girlfriend duties and constantly tried to break up. Isn't that resistance? I've thought about it these past few days. Since we met, I haven't done anything to make you avoid me."
"How could you not? The first time I met you, you helped that scumbag Zachary," she cursed out of habit, forgetting Winona had reconciled with Zachary. Even if she had issues with him, she had to hold back. "You helped Zachary try to send me to jail. Later, you were either suing me or on the way to sue me. In my mind, you're an untouchable, high and mighty god."
