Chapter 392 Doing Shameful Things
Zachary shot her a slightly annoyed look. "I just wanna tell you, I'm not like that jerk in the movie. I have no intimate relationship with Fiona, nor do I have any plans to marry her."
"I was nice to her partly to make you jealous, not just because of her dad."
She didn't get jealous, but he ended up getting mad, which was totally his own fault.
Winona stood up and whispered, "Jealous."
"What?"
"I said, you're so stupid!"
Before she could finish, Zachary suddenly stood up and pulled her into his arms, hugging her from behind with his chin resting on her shoulder.
"Winona, I heard you."
"Then why did you ask?"
"I wanted to hear you say it again. You've never said anything sweet to me, never said you liked me, not even during our marriage. But back then, I wasn't good to you. Now that we're back together, you still haven't said it."
"If I didn't like you, why would I get back together with you? Am I crazy?"
Zachary was relentless. "Hearing it from you feels different than just sensing it. It feels different."
A figure in work clothes hovered at the door.
Winona hurriedly tried to pull his hands off her waist. "We should go. The cleaning lady has peeked in several times. In this dark environment, if we don't leave soon, she'll think we're having sex."
Zachary's arms were like iron clamps; no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't pry them off. Not hearing the answer he wanted, he started kissing her, his lips moving up her neck, finally capturing her thin earlobe.
Winona's whole body tensed, and she tightly gripped the taut muscles of his arm. "Zachary..."
"Excuse me, the movie is over, and we need to clean up," the cleaning lady finally couldn't help but come in to shoo them away.
Zachary let go of Winona just before the cleaning lady entered. His handsome face, shrouded in shadow, had a thin layer of coldness. As soon as Winona was free, she bolted quickly, disappearing from sight. The man looked at the empty doorway, feeling gloomy.
Just a little bit more.
Outside the theater, it was still early. Winona stood in the shadows, habitually pulling out her phone. She had put it on silent during the movie, and the screen showed two missed calls, both from Austin.
Since he left Regal Oaks last time, he hadn't contacted her. Now, calling twice in a row, it must be something urgent.
Winona called back, and the phone was quickly answered.
Winona said, "Sorry, I was watching a movie. What's up?"
"Yeah, I need your help with something."
"What?"
"It's hard to explain over the phone. I'll send you my location. Can you come over?"
Since Austin asked, she had to help, but Zachary was still with her.
Winona glanced at Zachary behind her. "Can I bring someone?"
"Whatever." Austin's tone sounded a bit dejected, but she didn't think it was because of Zachary. She knew his personality; once he said goodbye, he wouldn't act like this.
She told Zachary about Austin needing her help. "Are you coming with me or heading back?"
Zachary cursed Austin in his mind a few times but, remembering the handcuffs that had embarrassed him, gritted his teeth and said, "I'll go with you."
Winona didn't get why he was acting this way. Seeing his sarcastic look, she thought he was treating Austin as a rival again.
Winona said seriously, "I know Austin's personality. When he says he's given up, he really means it. He won't have any more feelings for me. This time, he's asking for help. Don't get jealous and offend him."
Zachary, with a blank expression, replied, "I wouldn't be jealous of a man who needs a woman's help. Things women can do, he can't."
Winona raised an eyebrow and smirked, "Things women can do, you can do too?"
Sensing a trap, he cautiously stayed silent.
"Then you'll handle childbirth in the future. I'll take good care of you."
Winona walked away, and Zachary quickly caught up, grabbing her to explain. "I don't think women are incapable. Several of our company's executives are women. There are many strong women in business and politics. I'm just mad that he keeps asking you for help. If only women can help, doesn't he have a sister? He and Rebecca get along well. He's doing this on purpose."
Austin's location was his home. When Winona and Zachary arrived, he was standing at the door, leaning against the wall, smoking. Seeing them come out of the elevator, he stubbed out his cigarette and stood up straight, saying, "Winona, please help me talk to her. I've tried everything."
As for Zachary, he completely ignored him.
Winona asked with concern, "What's going on?"
Austin explained how he accidentally bumped into Abigail after leaving Regal Oaks. "She says she has amnesia but refuses to go to the hospital. The family doctor can only do so much. The brain is too complex; it needs scans."
While he was talking, Winona saw Abigail and the broken TV on the floor. "What's this?"
"Ever since she came here, she's been glued to that TV, watching it all day and all night. She watched it so much that it started to smoke," he said, still feeling a pang in his chest. "The smoke set off the ceiling alarm, bringing the whole property management up here."
He wasn't upset about the TV. It just felt inappropriate for a man to take care of a girl with mental health issues.
Winona fell silent.
Zachary finally saw a chance to get back at Austin for the handcuff incident and sarcastically remarked, "The TV smoked because it's old. It was bound to happen. Don't make excuses. You hit her, and she didn't go to the hospital to make you pay. That's kind-hearted enough. What more do you want?"
Austin didn't get angry. He nodded and said, "Your car hit her, so according to traffic laws, the car owner also has some responsibility. Since you're so generous, why don't you take her home? I'll pay, and you take care of her. How about that?"
