Chapter 18 The Surveillance is Broken
Upon hearing Tim's words, the manager turned around and politely asked Winona, "Is that the situation, as Tim described?"
Obviously, the manager didn't want to review the surveillance footage. The people who came to the Night Club were either rich or influential, valuing their privacy and not wanting every word and action to be scrutinized.
"No, it's him who harassed me and physically attacked my friend. If you don't believe me, you can ask your staff," Winona replied.
The manager glanced at the two male PR staff standing beside him. Seeing them nod, he knew the gist of the situation.
However, he also knew how to handle things based on the other party's identity. He had never seen Winona before, but judging from her attire... it was ordinary, without any expensive jewelry. On the other hand, he recognized Tim. Although his fortune had declined in recent years, he still had more money than the average person. The manager wanted to quickly resolve the matter by appeasing Tim.
"Miss, it seems that your friend isn't injured. How about we drop the matter? Of course, he will be responsible for any medical expenses," the manager suggested.
Having seen the fickleness of human nature, Winona immediately understood the manager's intentions. She glanced at him, sensing his true character. "What if I insist on pursuing the matter? Is Night Club going to protect him?"
"Of course not. How you handle the dispute between guests is up to you. Night Club won't interfere. However, the Night Club does have rules, and fighting is not allowed on the premises. We hope you pursue the matter outside," the manager explained.
As an entertainment venue, as long as the fight didn't take place inside the Night Club, they didn't care how it was resolved outside.
"In that case, I would like a copy of the surveillance footage from earlier," Winona stated.
The manager remained composed. "I'm sorry, but our guests are special, and apart from major incidents, we generally don't review the footage."
"There are no surveillance cameras anywhere except in the hallways and elevators."
That's obviously a lie. It's the most prone place for accidents to happen, so how could there be no surveillance cameras in the corridors?
A short distance away, Samuel, who had been watching the whole time, raised an eyebrow at Winona, who had been facing away from them the entire time. "Looks like your wife doesn't want your help."
She had clearly seen Zachary just now, but since then, she hadn't even glanced back at him. Now that she knew the manager was just trying to brush them off, why didn't she come and ask her husband for help?
She knew that as long as Zachary opened his mouth, whether it was the surveillance or Tim, they would be handed over to her on a silver platter.
She really has some pride! Zachary was already annoyed, and at Samuel's words, his eyebrows furrowed slightly and his face grew even darker. "If you don't speak, no one will treat you like a mute."
Samuel's gaze fell on the man's neck, and his eyes narrowed. "What happened to the marks on your neck? Who have you been sleeping with?"
It was as if he had discovered something earth-shattering. After all, there had been quite a few women in the past few years who wanted to get into Zachary's bed, but none of them had been successful.
Samuel even suspected at one point that Zachary had developed sexual dysfunction because of that night three years ago!
Zachary couldn't be bothered with him and casually replied, "Mosquito bites."
His gaze was still fixed on Winona, waiting for her to remember her identity as Mrs. Bailey and realize that she could use her status to overpower others.
Tim taunted Winona, raising his chin slightly. Without the protection of the Night Club, what could two women like them do? They would be completely at his mercy.
"Winona, I advise you to be wise. If you..."
The rest of his words got stuck in his throat because Tim saw Zachary approaching them!
After all, Winona was a member of the Bailey Group and Zachary's subordinate. It would be suicidal to bully him in front of Zachary.
He had heard a rumor once, saying that someone had made a move on Zachary's companion during a business negotiation and had their arm broken on the spot by Zachary.
With this thought in mind, his body trembled like a sieve. "Mr. Bailey..."
Zachary glanced at him indifferently, then turned his gaze back to Winona.
She didn't look at him and took out her phone to call the police.
But before Winona could make the call, the manager, who had been quick on his feet, intercepted her. "Miss, if you want to call the police, please do it outside. Let's not involve the Night Club."
"The incident happened here, so the police should come here to resolve it." Winona didn't back down at all and didn't even spare a glance at the approaching man.
Being ignored like this, Zachary pursed his lips.
Tim observed his expression and tentatively asked, "Mr. Bailey, this young lady bears a striking resemblance to an employee in your company. I just saw her and thought she worked at the Bailey Group."
He wasn't sure how long Zachary had been here or how much he had seen, so he tentatively said, testing the waters to see how the other would respond. Zachary, however, smiled ambiguously and said, "Is that so? Let me see how much we resemble each other."
He walked up to Winona, his gaze looking down on her. Winona wanted to ignore it, but the man's gaze was too invasive, so she had no choice but to raise her head and meet his eyes. Zachary didn't say anything, but his gaze clearly conveyed one message, "Beg me!"
Winona bit her lip fiercely, determined not to give in. But even the softest of voices couldn't cover up the malice in Zachary's words at that moment. "I don't know you, you've got me mistaken." Tim's previously suspended heart dropped instantaneously, and he quickly put on a smile and said a few flattering words. Winona tried to retrieve her phone from the manager; unable to call for help, she could only seek assistance from someone else.
She opened her contacts and scrolled directly to the names starting with 'N.' Zachary's eyes narrowed heavily when he saw this, but before she could find the person she was looking for in her contacts, he grabbed her hand and pulled her into his arms. Winona hadn't expected him to do this all of a sudden...
This inexplicable action startled her, causing her to drop the phone directly onto the ground! Without giving her a chance to pick it up, Zachary dragged her towards the elevator, with a face so gloomy it seemed like water would drip from it. "Zachary, what are you doing! My phone...wait, my friend!" Winona was still worried about Rebecca, who was even drunker than her.
When she turned her head to look, she discovered that Rebecca was already sitting on the ground, fast asleep! "She's drunk, I need to take her home, so let go of me..."
Zachary's cold voice sounded, "Samuel, take care of it!" Tim, however, had already been frightened silly by this scene, standing dumbfounded in place, staring at the direction both of them were leaving in.
Wasn't it said that they were not employees of the Bailey Group? "Carter," Samuel's cold voice came from behind him, "Do you understand the meaning of Mr. Bailey's 'take care of it' now?"
The manager of the nightclub didn't expect such a turn of events, becoming so frightened that he couldn't speak. When Samuel called him like that, he trembled abruptly! "Rest assured, you won't see Tim at Night Club again."
In the basement parking lot, Zachary forcibly stuffed Winona into the car. She was already drunk, and after this intense struggle, her stomach churned and she just wanted to vomit! However, before she could do anything, Zachary mercilessly held her chin, and he leaned in, his handsome contours now cold and sinister. "Who were you trying to seek help from just now, hmm?"
