Chapter 53 Witnessing Her Secret Meeting with an Ex-lover

Mr. Miller was sweating, and Winona suddenly felt like her hand was enclosed in a damp grip. She quickly pulled her hand back and took several steps backward. Her face turned icy cold. "Mr. Miller, please maintain your respect."

Mr. Miller had only intended to test the waters by holding her hand. Although he had some thoughts about Winona, it wasn't worth getting into a confrontation with Zachary over a woman.

He swiftly composed himself and hurriedly apologized, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean anything else. I just wanted to ask what perfume you're wearing so that I can buy a bottle for my wife." Since he was going to stay here for a few days, he had plenty of chances.

Mr. Miller, a fox who had spent many years in the marketplace, hid his intentions deep within. He was genuinely sincere when he acted.

"When I drink too much, I tend to hook arms with others. It was just a subconscious reaction. I apologize for offending you. I'll personally apologize to Mr. Bailey later."

Winona couldn't even be bothered to look pleased anymore. She went to the sink to wash her hands again, squeezing out several pumps of hand soap.

Mr. Miller watched from the side, a momentary gloom crossing his face.

Sensing that Mr. Miller was still looking at her, Winona said nonchalantly, "Sorry, Mr. Miller, I have a cleanliness obsession and don't like physical contact with others."

Mr. Miller awkwardly rubbed his hands, "It's okay, it's okay. I was the one who offended you." After saying that, he hurriedly left without even going to the bathroom.

Winona kept rubbing her hands until they turned red before finally turning off the faucet. She didn't like Mr. Miller at all, and the feeling of his touch made her uncomfortable...

Although his apologetic attitude appeared sincere, the way he looked at people made her uneasy.

She thought about how she had only asked Zachary for a million dollars as compensation and felt that she had been shortchanged!

Winona wiped her hands dry with a tissue. Figuring that Mr. Miller had already returned to the front hall, she slowly walked in that direction, only to see Matthew...

He was on the phone and seemed to be discussing business, with a serious expression on his face as he pursed his thin lips. This was the first time Winona had seen Matthew in work mode.

"Understood, I'll handle this when I get back. That's it." It was unclear what the other person on the line said, but Matthew hung up with a displeased look. He took out a cigarette box and was about to light one when he noticed Winona's presence.

He turned slightly and looked in her direction, raising an eyebrow when he saw her. "Winona?"

Matthew tossed the unlit cigarette into the nearby trash can and that was something deeply ingrained in him since receiving an elite education.

"Are you going to this social event with Zachary?" Winona walked over. "Hmm, what about you?"

Their relationship with Matthew had never been bad, and they used to have a chat when they met before. But because of the incident where she borrowed money last time, she didn't feel right ignoring him without even saying hello and leaving.

Three hundred million dollars was not a small amount, and although she didn't take the money, she kept it in mind.

Matthew replied, "A friend is celebrating their birthday and organized a gathering here. Just coming to have a look." Winona nodded, preparing to end the conversation.

Her lips moved slightly, but before she had a chance to say goodbye, she saw Zachary standing not far away... His face was gloomy, and she didn't know how long he had been standing there. The look he cast on her was heavy and dark, as if he was a husband who had successfully caught his cheating wife!

Matthew sensed that something was wrong with her and looked in the direction of her gaze, smiling as he said, "Go ahead, I think Zachary is worried about you not going back for so long and came out specially to find you." Winona sneered inwardly. Who would believe such words? She certainly didn't!

Zachary couldn't be worried about her; he was probably afraid of her meeting Matthew, afraid of her having an affair, so he condescendingly came to find her. But she couldn't tell Matthew about this troubled relationship between her and her husband.

In terms of their relationship, it wasn't appropriate, as it seemed like a deliberate provocation. "Alright, I'll go now." She walked up to Zachary, and he sarcastically said, "Not going to chat a little more? It's not often we run into each other face to face. Mr. Miller and the others have gone back to their rooms. Do you want to sit with Matthew's group and catch up?" Zachary didn't lower his voice, and his location was very close to where Matthew was.

Winona subconsciously turned her head to look in that direction, but fortunately, Matthew had already left. "What's the matter? Can't bear to leave?" The man's voice rang out from above her head, bringing unmasked mockery and hostility.

Winona rolled her eyes and walked straight into the restaurant. "Your thoughts are always so unfinished."

She thought of Mr. Miller and instantly felt like her freshly washed hands were dirty again.

The business partner she found was just like him! The Millers were no longer in the restaurant, and Winona didn't stay for long. Since the audience had left, what was the point of continuing to play? She didn't even turn her head and asked the person behind her, "Where am I staying?"

"We're a married couple, so obviously, we'll be staying in the same room." She had already checked earlier. The resort didn't have a presidential suite, only single and standard rooms, but regardless of the type, she refused to share a room with Zachary. "No, I'll stay on my own."

Zachary furrowed his brows, and his anger surged. This anger had started when he saw her chatting happily with Matthew in the corridor earlier. After all, he had been worried about her being out for so long and encountering some unsolvable trouble, so he came looking for her, and the result... He didn't even remember how long it had been."

Winona hasn't smiled at him like this before. Every time they meet now, she is like a ignited firecracker.

Impatiently, he reminded her, "You came here as Mrs. Bailey."

"Yes, but who said that married couples can't sleep in separate rooms?" Winona turned around, widening her eyes in feigned surprise. "Sleeping in separate rooms doesn't affect our marital intimacy."

As if to prove her point, she reached out and took hold of Zachary's arm. "Experts say that sleeping in separate rooms improves sleep quality."

Zachary sneered, "Which idiot expert said that? Let them say it to my face."

Regardless of what Zachary thought, Winona went to the lobby on the first floor and successfully opened another room.

However, when she was swiping her card, someone suddenly grabbed her wrist.
