Chapter 12 A Slap for Fiona

There was silence in the car for a while.
Zachary turned his head and looked at her. "Because you're stupid, you have mental problems, and you're blind."
"I really am..." Winona chuckled in anger. "Why waste time communicating with a pig?"
She turned to open the car door, but Zachary grabbed her abruptly, his handsome face as cold as water.
Outside, Alex, seeing no movement in the car, knocked on the window more urgently. "Windy, is something wrong?"
"Winona?" The man's eyes gleamed with coldness. "Calling so affectionately, eager to betray me even before the divorce? But it seems like your taste in men has regressed quite a bit."
Zachary practically gnashed his teeth while saying the last sentence.
Winona didn't bother to explain the misunderstanding caused by the name; it didn't matter anyway.
"Yeah, my taste in men has always been terrible. Isn't that why I married you? Alex and I are just... friends. You're the dirty one, don't assume everyone is as dirty as you are."
She could mock him, but she couldn't drag innocent people into it.
Not mentioning the fact that they were colleagues was a way to avoid endless arguments with Zachary.
"When are you free? Let's go to the Civil Affairs Bureau and get the divorce procedures done."
Upon hearing her mention divorce again, Zachary's brow furiously twitched.
Winona didn't care about his expression and continued, "If it's because of the contract not being over, I can compensate you for the penalty."
It was unclear which sentence exactly triggered Zachary, but his eyes were about to emit flames.
"Does your new lover know that you're a married woman? How would he react if he saw us making love in the car?"
Winona was filled with anger.
Angry, Winona thought, "Damn it, is he even listening to what I'm saying?" But seeing the emotions in the man's eyes, Winona's heart trembled suddenly!
In the next moment, Zachary showed her through his actions that he wasn't joking. He tightly held her slender waist and pulled her into his embrace. Then he lowered his head and kissed her, despite the presence of a console between them that couldn't hinder the man's actions at all.
One of his hands found the seat adjustment button beneath them, while the other supported Winona's waist. The seat flattened, and he pressed her down beneath him. It was the first time Winona had seen Zachary lose control like this. She struggled and exclaimed, "Let me go!" As she struggled, the car shook, and the sound of knocking on the window suddenly stopped. This scene... it's hard for anyone not to think differently!
Immediately, Winona was too scared to move. She stared at Zachary with red, swollen lips from his kisses, looking utterly devastated. Seeing her like this, Zachary's emotions calmed down as he raised a hand to press against his forehead.
"Tell him to get lost, I won't touch you."
At the moment he withdrew his body, Winona quickly fixed her messy clothes and hair. Then she pushed open the door and got out of the car, slamming the door shut with a loud thud! Outside the car, Alex saw the door open and quickly stepped aside. "Windy, did the person in the car bully you?"
In that moment when the door closed, he saw the man in the car, with his eyes flickering like a deep, bottomless pool. And the clothes on the man, Alex had seen them in a magazine before, costing at least seven figures. Moreover, with this kind of car... it was impossible for him to be just an ordinary ride-hailing driver.
Winona knew Alex's speculation, but she simply shook her head and said, "It's alright, thank you. You should go eat, I'll go first." Without waiting for the other party to say anything, she hailed a taxi and gave the address of her newly rented apartment. The taxi quickly drove away, leaving a trail of dust...
Back home, Winona went to the bathroom. After bathing, she called her lawyer who helped her draft the divorce agreement before. "Ryan, in my situation, if I want to file for divorce, what are the chances of winning?"
"If it's based on the property division you wanted before... it'll be difficult." Ryan had a deep impression of Winona's case, partly because of the huge amount of property involved, and partly because of the husband's status.
"What if I don't care about the property?" Winona had never expected to get any of Zachary's wealth. She had listed them just to disgust him a little. "Then it depends on how much Mr. Bailey wants the divorce. The lawsuit can still proceed, but if Mr. Bailey doesn't agree, it will take a long time. If there's no domestic violence or irreconcilable conflict, judges usually favor reconciliation. If the first trial doesn't grant a divorce, the appeal will take three months."
Winona thought that the main reason Zachary was holding on so tightly to her was because she had initiated the divorce, which hurt his pride. Additionally, the timing was too coincidental, making it easy for people to misunderstand Fiona as a mistress. But they were just keeping their marriage hidden, so there was no proof of their relationship. It seemed that this divorce would not be easily settled.
If they were to go to court, everyone would know about their marriage, and Fiona being a mistress would become a complete reality! For Fiona's sake, Zachary would definitely agree to a divorce.
Winona pursed her lips. "Ryan, help me draft a lawyer's letter to send to him."
After hanging up the phone, she let out a long sigh.
Ryan was quick, and the next morning, Zachary received the lawyer's letter.
Dylan always previewed anything delivered to Zachary. As soon as he saw this, he knew it wasn't good. The office's atmosphere noticeably dropped several degrees. He looked at Mr. Bailey's icy face and cautiously said, "Mr. Bailey, Mrs. Sullivan might be playing a game with you."
Zachary looked up, his gaze coldly sweeping over Dylan. "Find out what Winona has been up to lately."
What job or connection did she find to make her so confident, daring to send him a lawyer's letter!
It was not difficult to check Winona's whereabouts. Around noon, Dylan had concrete information. "Mrs. Sullivan is now working at View Studio."
"View Studio?"
"It's a studio specializing in the restoration of cultural relics, quite famous in that field. They handle high-difficulty cultural relics, and only top talents and nationally recognized people can work there."
Zachary frowned. He didn't recall seeing Winona involved in this, but she did graduate from an art college.
"She can restore cultural relics?"
"Actually, no. Mrs. Sullivan works there as a janitor."
Dylan personally made a trip to confirm, witnessing Winona sweeping the floor. Just to be sure, he even asked someone to confirm that she was indeed working as a janitor.
"A janitor?" Zachary sneered, tossing the lawyer's letter in his hand. "Seems like this spoiled rich girl who doesn't understand the hardships of life has had enough of it. Too idle to the point of wanting to experience life. I shouldn't have spoiled her these past two years. She was too preoccupied to bother with anything."
In fact, Dylan felt that Mrs. Sullivan had been quite wronged these past two years. As the madam of the Bailey Group's president, not only did no one know, but she also had to do menial tasks like pouring tea and cleaning. Even the takeout she ordered was thrown away.
If it were someone else, they would have probably thrown the takeout box at Mr. Bailey's forehead by now!
"Please leave." Dismissing Dylan, Zachary called Winona's phone...
At the moment, Winona was working on a delicate restoration, and the sound of her phone vibrating almost caused her to make a mistake.
Already in a bad mood, seeing the name jumping on the screen made her even more irritable.
She knew why Zachary was calling. By now, he should have received the lawyer's letter.
Before she could even speak, the man on the other end of the line spoke first.
The mocking voice spoke first, "Winona, do you know how much the housing prices are in New York these days?"
"What?"
"With your meager salary as a janitor, I doubt you can even afford rent, right?"
