Chapter 291 My Wife is Very Strict

If it were anyone else, Dylan definitely wouldn't call to interrupt Zachary and Winona's date.

But Zachary had been pretty worried about the Turner family's issues lately, and even this deal happened because he lowered the requirements on purpose.

Zachary frowned and asked, "Where are they now?"

"They just got to the airport. I've already sent a driver to pick them up."

"Alright, send me the restaurant address once it's booked."

After hanging up, Zachary looked at Winona with a hint of regret. "I probably won't have time for dinner today. Want to go up and check out the house? If you don't like it, we can see another one next time."

Winona replied coldly, "No need."

Whether the house was good or not, it was Zachary's house, and it wasn't her place to say if she liked it or not.

"You probably have things to do. I'll just take a cab back."

Her one foot was already on the ground, but Zachary was standing too close and didn't seem to want to let her go, so she couldn't get out. Winona looked up at him, puzzled, not understanding why he wouldn't move or say anything.

Zachary stayed silent for a few seconds, then closed the car door. "I'll take you back."

When he said he'd take her back, he really meant it, all the way to the door, watching her go inside. "I'll be busy for a while and probably won't have time to bother you. Be good, don't get too close to Matthew, Austin, or that Rodolfo."

Even though Rodolfo was a bodyguard, the guy followed her everywhere, and it annoyed him.

All in all, her life had gotten pretty colorful after their divorce, with her fame growing and more men around her.

Thinking of this, Zachary's previously calm expression darkened. "When are you planning to take me off your blacklist?"

Winona tilted her chin up, her eyes shimmering. "We don't have much reason to stay in touch, so you should just stay on the blacklist."

At that moment, Zachary saw a glimpse of the spirited young girl from years ago, the one who had asked him to pass a love letter to Matthew, her eyes sparkling like a starry sky.

In a daze, the door in front of him slammed shut with a "bang." If Zachary hadn't pulled his hand back quickly, he might have ended up in the hospital.

Listening to the footsteps fading inside, Zachary swallowed, a barely audible chuckle escaping from deep within.

When Zachary arrived, the Turners had already been waiting for a while. The one who led was Kyle, responsible for project negotiations. He was stocky, not very tall, and wore a dark blue suit.

Seeing Zachary walk in, he quickly stood up, slightly bowing his upper body and extending his hand. "Mr. Bailey."

"Sorry that I’m late. The traffic."

Kyle smiled warmly, clearly a good-natured person, and agreed, "I understand, we also faced some traffic jam coming from the airport, and it is our fault that we arrive earlier than scheduled."

He turned his gaze to the woman beside him and introduced, "Eva, this is Mr. Bailey, the president of the Bailey Group. This is my daughter, Eva Turner."

Although tonight was just a welcome dinner and not a formal occasion, bringing his daughter along was quite telling. Usually, in such situations, it implied the intention of arranging a marriage, using the opportunity to let both sides get acquainted.

Eva stood up elegantly, clad in a sultry yet sophisticated dark red dress that struck a balance between allure and dignity, a perfect reflection of her status as a wealthy family's daughter, exuding a magnetism that captivated men.

She placed one hand on her chest to avoid exposure when leaning forward and extended the other hand to Zachary. "Mr. Bailey, nice to meet you."

Her fingers were long and well-proportioned, with faint lines and fair, delicate skin, clearly well-maintained. Even the curvature of her nails was perfectly trimmed.

Zachary looked at her extended hand but didn't shake it, just nodded slightly as a greeting. "Nice to meet you."

Dylan immediately played the peacemaker, shaking Eva's hand. "I've heard that Mr. Turner's daughter is the most beautiful woman in A City, and seeing you today, it's indeed true."

Eva possessed a mature allure, each arched brow and curved smile exuding a distinctive charm. "Mr. Bailey, too proud to shake my hand?"

Her demeanor and expression hit the mark, striking a balance that would make most men unable to resist shaking her hand, but it had little effect on the no-nonsense boss, Zachary.

Afraid that Zachary might say something offensive, Dylan quickly interjected, "Miss Turner, you misunderstand. Mr. Bailey never has physical contact with ladies."

Zachary said indifferently, "Sorry, my wife is very strict and doesn't like me having other women's perfume on me."

He still remembered how his Bentley got replaced by a Maybach.

Dylan was speechless, thinking, 'Even if it's true, can't you come up with a less dismissive excuse? Now the whole city probably knows you got dumped by Mrs. Bailey and that your impotence was posted online.'

Predictably, Eva smiled, not calling him out but clearly not buying it. "I wouldn't have guessed that a man as outstanding as Mr. Bailey would be afraid of his wife."

Kyle timely shifted the conversation to business matters.

Winona didn't take Zachary’s words seriously, but she indeed hadn't seen him for the next week. She hadn't taken him off the blacklist either, and without calls or messages, it was as if he had completely disappeared from her world.

One day, Rebecca invited her for coffee.

In a quiet and elegant café, a barista in white attire gracefully ground coffee beans, with classical light music playing in the background. Winona, feeling a bit drowsy, leaned against the backrest and sat sideways without much regard for her posture. "Since when did you become so refined, having the leisure to bring me to such a high-end café?"

Rebecca held a delicate coffee cup with both hands, half her body leaning on the table. She tilted her head, hesitating before asking, "How are things with you and Zachary lately? Is he still pursuing you?"

Winona replied, "Probably not."

They hadn't contacted each other for a week. Even though she had blacklisted him, if Zachary really wanted to contact her, he could still find a way.

Rebecca sighed in relief. "It's good that he's not."

Winona, curious about her reaction, asked, "What's up?"
