Chapter 652 You Made Her Run Away
As soon as Zachary got into the car, he told Dylan, "Check the flight that landed at Dreamopolis Airport at 3:10 PM today. I need the passenger details, both domestic and international. Then head to the airport."
The last part was directed at the driver in the front seat.
Dylan responded with a quick "Got it," and started contacting various airlines for the passenger lists.
Zachary kept fidgeting with his phone, watching the screen go dark and then light up again.
After waiting for over half an hour, he couldn't hold back any longer and asked, "Do you have the contact info for the girl at the front desk with the ponytail?"
Dylan paused, turning stiffly, "I don't, but it's in the company group chat. Mr. Bailey, are you interested in her? You can't do that to Mrs. Bailey."
"While you were missing, Mrs. Bailey was busy comforting your parents, managing the company, and even taking time to search for you at sea. She was so busy she only ate once a day. I often saw her staring at the flowers you gave her, crying silently all night. She'd come to work in the morning with swollen eyes..."
Zachary was getting a headache from Dylan's rambling and snapped, "Shut up."
"Ask if Winona has replied to her message."
He hadn't called Winona immediately because he wanted to see if she would reach out to him first. Last night, he watched a video from a relationship blogger about three signs a woman loves you:
1. She always wants to be with you.
2. She occasionally acts unreasonable because she knows you'll indulge her.
3. She gets jealous of anyone close to you, especially other women.
He was confident that his relationship with Winona was strong, having been through life-and-death situations together. But after hearing the signs, he realized none of them applied to Winona.
Winona was always dedicated to her work, even during vacations. She never acted unreasonable, and she didn't seem to get jealous.
Now, after sending the photo, she hadn't even asked about it, let alone shown any jealousy.
But her work required focus and precision, so she probably hadn't had time to check her phone.
"Mr. Bailey," Dylan interrupted his self-reassurance, "She replied. Mrs. Bailey thanked her and said she'd treat her to dinner sometime."
Zachary looked at his phone, which had no notifications, and said coldly, "Alright, don't say anything else. My phone might be broken. Let me have some quiet."
Zachary turned away and opened Samuel's WhatsApp, asking directly: [If Julia saw you with another woman, would she question you?]
He waited a long time, but Samuel didn't reply.
Could his phone really be broken? The thought made him feel better, so he sent another message: [?]
The message didn't go through, showing a big red exclamation mark and a notice that he wasn't friends with the recipient.
Zachary dialed Samuel's number, "What's going on?"
"Would Julia get jealous? You don't know? You sent that message just to humiliate me? I have no obligation to answer your questions. Don't use this to provoke me!"
Zachary was silent for a few seconds, feeling guilty, and softened his tone, "What's wrong? What happened?"
Samuel seemed busy, with the sound of pages turning in the background, "What's going on with you and Winona?"
Zachary explained the situation, and Samuel suspected he was showing off, scoffing, "If Julia got jealous, you'd be preparing for my funeral. I wouldn't last long."
Samuel hung up before Zachary could respond. He wanted to say that Julia's bridal design studio probably made millions a year, yet she was still frugal.
At the airport, Zachary still hadn't received a message from Winona. He put away his phone and went straight to the surveillance room, instructing Dylan to have someone check the arrival hall.
The airport executives had been informed and respectfully welcomed Zachary, arranging for staff to assist him.
2:30 PM.
3:00 PM.
4:00 PM.
By 7:00 PM, Zachary hadn't seen the person he was looking for in the crowded airport. Maeve hadn't shown up either.
After staring at the screens all afternoon, Zachary's eyes were dry and sore. "Please make a copy of the surveillance footage from the past few days."
Returning to Regal Oaks, it was past 9:00 PM, and the entire mansion was dark.
He frowned slightly. Winona wasn't back yet?
She usually went to bed at 10:00 PM and turned off the lights around 11:00 PM. If he was late due to work, she'd leave a light on for him in the living room. But now, the whole place was dark.
The frustration of being ignored all afternoon resurfaced, but then a wave of excitement hit him. Could she be jealous?
Zachary didn't turn on the lights, using the faint light from outside to find his way to the sofa. He leaned back and dialed Winona's number.
As he waited for the call to connect, he rubbed his neck, a habit when he was tired.
"Sorry, the number you dialed is turned off."
The unexpected message came through the receiver.
Zachary's brows furrowed, and he dialed again, but it was still off.
What was going on?
Zachary's anxiety spiked. He sat up straight, his fatigue replaced by tension, and called Rebecca, "Is Winona with you?"
Rebecca replied, "No."
"If she contacts you, tell her to call me. No matter what, she needs to call me."
"Did you make her mad again?" Rebecca sounded angry, "Did you upset her so much she left?"
