Chapter 78 His Plundering Kiss

When Zachary arrived at the Night Club, the others were already there.

Samuel glanced at Zachary's neatly tailored suit and the tie he was still wearing. "You didn't come directly from the company, did you?"

"Yeah."

"With your wife about to leave, who are you making all that money for? Are you burying it with yourself in a coffin?"

"What's it to you?"

Samuel sighed helplessly.

Zachary sat down next to him, with Matthew on the other side.

He lifted the glass of wine the waiter had poured for him and raised it towards Matthew. With his movement, the amber liquid swayed under the dim lights. "Have Winona move out of your apartment."

Matthew wasn't surprised that Zachary knew about it. He had nothing to hide and no intention of concealing it. "Zachary, aren’t you going too far? After all, she is a girl. It's dangerous for her to walk outside with a suitcase in the middle of the night."

Zachary's features were hidden in the shadows, and his expression was blank. He calmly said, "This is a matter between my wife and me, Matthew. You have no right to interfere."

Though his tone wasn't heavy, it carried a strong sense of warning.

Matthew frowned, his usual gentle smile vanished from his face. "Precisely because of that, you shouldn't use those tactics from the business world on her."

Zachary's expression turned into a furious coldness. "On what grounds do you have to tell me how to treat her?"

With them as the center, the tension in the air was palpable. It even had a sense of imminent conflict.

Meeting his gaze, Matthew calmly spoke, "The Watson family and the Sullivan family have been close for generations. I have known Winona for a long time. You could say I have a certain standing regarding her..."

"Brother Zachary," Zachary's expression turned ice-cold, and he sneered, "Are you sure you only see her as a sister?"

As the atmosphere grew increasingly tense, like a fight could break out any second, Samuel suddenly stood up and patted Matthew's shoulder. "Come with me, let's go buy some cigarettes."

The excuse seemed rather half-hearted, considering there were several unopened packs on the table, and they could have easily asked the waiter to bring more. But his interruption did noticeably ease the tension.

Matthew got up and followed Samuel outside. They went to the terrace next to the restroom, and Samuel handed him a cigarette. "Why did you suddenly get involved in Zachary and his wife's affair?"

Though he didn't know the details, Samuel could guess the general situation from their earlier conversation.

Matthew's voice was faint. "I didn't get involved, I just let Winona stay in my apartment for a while."

Samuel looked at him. "If he wants to play with you, let him. Even if you don't intervene, he wouldn't let Winona sleep on the streets."

Matthew squinted as he smoked, the smoke escaping from his lips, obscuring his facial features and the emotions in his eyes.

He didn't avoid Samuel's gaze but remained silent.

"You know that Zachary minds your relationship with Winona. If you interfere too much in their marriage, you might lose a friend," Samuel pointed out before ending the conversation. "Zachary's not in a good mood recently, don't take it to heart."

After dealing with a broken vase, Winona felt a little hungry and decided to go downstairs for a midnight snack. It was inconvenient that she couldn't cook in the apartment.

As she walked out while texting, she planned to ask Matthew about the thing Grandpa Watson had asked her to help with, as he hadn't mentioned it again for a long time, leaving her uncertain if he had forgotten.

Just as she opened the door, a figure stood in her way...

With her head down, typing on her phone, Winona quickly stepped backward as she sensed a dark shadow approaching. She reached out to press the alarm on the wall, but the person followed her inside and forcefully closed the door with a loud bang.

Before she could raise her eyes, the phone she had been holding tightly was snatched from her!

In the next moment, a familiar voice came down from above her, "Who were you planning to message for help?"

Feeling relieved, Winona couldn't help rolling her eyes at the intruder. "Zachary, do you have a problem or something? You scared me, I thought you were an intruder. I almost grabbed a knife!"

Winona was starving and just wanted to get rid of him and go eat. She reached out to retrieve her phone, but as her fingertips touched the phone case, the man lifted his hand and threw the phone straight onto the door.

Zachary firmly held her hand and leaned in closer. The smell of alcohol emanated from him, and there was a hint of drunkenness in his eyes. "You rely on Matthew so much? Is he your first thought in times of danger?"

The conversation paused there, with Winona left to wonder what Zachary wanted to say next.

"Is it him?"

"You..." Winona was about to speak, but the man's passionate kiss had already descended, overwhelming and leaving her no chance to breathe. He was never a gentleman to begin with, and now all that remained in his eyes was the desire to conquer and possess.

The man's grip was strong, pressing her shoulders against the wall. Winona struggled with all her might but couldn't break free, forced to endure his plundering kiss.

Winona wanted to bite him, but before she could, Zachary had the foresight to release her.

He looked at her with a face full of anger, sneering. "Why do you think I couldn’t find this place?"

Winona widened her eyes slightly, guessing what he wanted to say... He wanted to say that Matthew told him about this place, that's why he came.

But without hesitation, she said, "It couldn't be Matthew who told you."

Winona believed in Matthew's character, unaware that as soon as these words left her mouth, Zachary's gaze grew cold like never before.

The entire room fell into a silent stillness.

After a moment, he smiled and spoke in a conversational tone, but Winona felt her shoulders almost crushed under the oppressive force. The overwhelming sense of pressure engulfed her.

His eyes were filled with determination. "You really trust him?"

Finishing his sentence, his lips pressed down again, the breath falling heavy on her face. "It seems you still haven't realized your true identity."

Then, Winona heard the sound of a belt buckle being released...
