Chapter 396 Winona, Blessed with Good Luck

Winona turned her head too.

The old lady was already pleased just seeing her face. She was gorgeous, perfect for her son, and clearly a well-mannered girl, way better than that rude Eva.

Her face lit up with a smile, losing all the shrewishness from before. "Are you the daughter of Frank?"

Zachary suddenly tightened his grip, making her face twist in pain, her knees buckle, and her voice go high-pitched. "Let go!"

She heard the sound of bones creaking and cracking.

Seeing the man stay cold and unmoved, she screamed, "Help!"

"She's not someone you can mess with," Zachary said, tossing her aside. The woman couldn't keep her balance, stumbled a few steps, and fell to the ground.

Zachary's voice was icy, "I don't care what beef you have with The Turner Family, but she's my wife. You better drop those thoughts."

Even though he only caught half of it, he could piece together the whole story.

She paused and said, "She's married? No way!"

Right, how could Eva's words be trusted? She'd badmouthed them so many times to dodge marrying her son, calling them shameless.

Zachary ignored her and took Winona straight to the elevator.

At the store entrance, Eva watched with a face full of resentment. If it weren't for Winona, her dad would be talking marriage with the Bailey family, and she'd be the one in Zachary's arms. Looking at the old woman still on the ground making a scene, she wondered how things got so messed up.

Seeing the woman look at her, Eva didn't hide. There was no point. Her dad and this woman had already made a deal, and they were getting married on the 6th of next month.

Her grandpa, worried The Turner Family would back out after his death, had given this woman 2% of the group's shares.

Two percent of the shares, while the yearly dividends were nice, still weren't enough to cover her dad's annual expenses. She couldn't get why her dad would sacrifice her happiness just to get those shares back.

But growing up, her dad's decisions were never up for debate, so she had to find her own way out.

Eva walked over and told the woman that Winona brought good luck. If her son married Winona, it would not only bring fortune to the family but also improve his health.

The middle-aged woman shuddered at the thought of Zachary's earlier look and the bruises on her wrist, saying, "Do you think I'd believe a nasty woman like you?"

Eva didn't care and said with a sly smile, "Believe it or not, it's up to you. I'm telling you, this might be your son's only shot at waking up."

Winona was held by Zachary as they walked out of the mall. He had a stern face, his thin lips slightly pursed, clearly pissed. She found it funny and couldn't resist teasing him. "Why are you getting mad at a stranger? Do you really think a few words from her would make me her daughter-in-law?"

Zachary didn't respond, just picked up the pace.

It was the weekend, and the mall was packed with people and events, making parking a nightmare. Their car was parked pretty far away.

Winona kept up at first, but her high heels soon started to hurt her feet. She just stopped walking.

Zachary, still holding her hand, noticed right away when she stopped. "What's wrong?"

Winona sighed, "I'm tired."

On the busy street, the two of them, both looking sharp and stylish, seemed like the stars of a romantic drama, catching a lot of eyes. Some street photographers aimed their cameras at them and started snapping away.

Zachary glanced at her high heels, then squatted down in front of her, offering his broad back. "Hop on."

The sound of cameras clicking got louder, and the shutters were almost deafening to Winona.

She wasn't a public figure, though she had been on a couple of shows, but those were recorded. Facing so many strangers' cameras now made her uneasy, and these were professional street photographers who would post the photos online.

She bent down slightly, letting her hair cover the side of her face, saying, "Can't you see they're all taking pictures of us? Get up quickly."

For Zachary, who had grown up in the spotlight, this scene was nothing. During company product launches, hundreds of reporters would point microphones and cameras at him, and he could still stay cool and composed.

Zachary said with a beaming smile, "We're both single and in a legit relationship. Even if we're photographed, it won't matter."

Winona didn't get why she was so attractive to men. She had just gone out shopping and somehow ended up with a fiancé. If Zachary didn't lock down their relationship soon, it could get messy.

Thinking this way, Zachary felt even more at ease, wishing he could pull those photographers closer to take pictures right in their faces, preferably if they were internet celebrities.

Winona had no clue about Zachary's thoughts. After all, when he was dressed, he always kept a high-cold and noble demeanor in front of her. Seeing him squat down, she felt her heart swell with emotion.

A guy who squatted down to carry you on his back in public was either a fake playboy or truly loved you.

Zachary couldn't be a fake playboy; his mouth alone limited his development in that direction. No matter how handsome he was, his words could drive you nuts, and no woman could stand that.

Finding a boyfriend was to enjoy the happiness of love, not to make yourself angry.

As more people took pictures of them, more people looked over, thinking they were models doing a photoshoot. Winona's social anxiety kicked in, and she quickly leaned on Zachary, patting his shoulder, saying, "Let's go!"
