Chapter 582 I Can Replace You Too

Abigail stood up from her seat. "Kurt, you were just a nobody back then. I made you who you are, and I can replace you just as easily."

From the moment she first laid eyes on Kurt, she had liked him. She never imagined she would one day speak to him so coldly.

Abigail was surprised, and Kurt was even more so.

He looked at Abigail, but her eyes were filled with nothing but indifference. She glanced down at him from her superior position and then turned to leave.

Seeing Zachary and Winona at the table behind her, Abigail felt a bit awkward. She had intended to exchange some pleasantries to build a connection, but she was in no mood now. She simply nodded in greeting and left.

After Abigail left, Kurt lost his appetite. He paid the bill and left as well.

Winona, thinking about Austin and Abigail's relationship, asked, "Was that Ms. Watson's ex-boyfriend?"

Zachary replied, "Ex-fiancé. He was an orphan adopted by the late Mr. Watson, who treated him like a future son-in-law. But as soon as Mr. Watson passed away, he dumped Ms. Watson and married another woman. He publicly claimed he married Abigail, but the details are murky. It likely involves shares in the Watson Group."

Zachary had investigated Abigail, but only about the Watson Group. He wasn't interested in their love triangle.

Winona sighed, "There are so many jerks out there."

Zachary was speechless.

You can insult him all you want, but why stare at me? Even though it was unfair, he didn't dare speak up. After all, he had a history.

After finishing their meal, Zachary needed to return to the office. "Should I drop you off first?"

Winona replied, "I'm going to see Rebecca."

She had been so busy lately that she hadn't contacted Rebecca and didn't know how things were going with her and Anthony.

Rebecca was at her shop, and Zachary offered to drop Winona off. "I'll come back to pick you up after I'm done."

"No need, it's too much trouble. I'll get back on my own."

Rebecca was always on the move, and who knew where she might drag Winona off to? Plus, the Bailey Group and her shop were in opposite directions. Driving around Dreamopolis was a nightmare.

Zachary frowned. He was as wary of Rebecca as he was of Winona's suitors. Who knew if Rebecca might take her to see some guy with a six-pack? "It's no trouble. Just wait for me at the shop."

Winona looked at him curiously. "Do you have a problem with Rebecca? It seems like you don't want me to see her."

"No."

Even though Zachary felt that way, he knew saying it out loud would make Winona angry.

"Alright then, I'll get out of here. Drive safely."

Zachary reminded her again, "Stay at the shop and wait for me. Don't wander off."

Winona entered the shop to find Rebecca sipping on a bubble tea, with a table full of desserts in front of her. "Come on over, I've ordered everything. The bubble tea is getting cold."

"Are you planning to skip dinner?"

There was so much food, they couldn't possibly finish it all.

"We'll walk it off after we eat, just in time for dinner," Rebecca said, handing Winona a slice of durian mille crepe and a bubble tea. "I found this amazing dessert shop recently. Try it, it's delicious."

Winona teased, "Aren't you on a diet?"

"Diet? Forget it. Being able to eat is a blessing. I wish I could eat myself into a big, unattractive blob so those sleazy guys would lose interest and stay far away." Rebecca took a big gulp of her bubble tea, as if to emphasize her point.

Winona knew she was talking about Anthony. "Aren't you two dating? Haven't you made up yet?"

"Made up?" Rebecca scoffed loudly. "We'll never make up. I can't believe I couldn't control myself back then."

Winona was speechless.

That sounded both wrong and right at the same time.

Rebecca gritted her teeth and raised three fingers. "I swear, if I ever drink again..."

Winona quickly interrupted, worried she might make a harmful vow. "It was just an accident, don't..."

"May Anthony gain twenty pounds."

The sudden twist caught Winona off guard. "Aren't vows supposed to curse yourself?"

That way, they have more weight.

Rebecca looked puzzled. "Why would I curse myself? Life is hard enough without self-sabotage. Cursing your enemy is way more satisfying."

Winona was at a loss for words and could only give her a thumbs-up. "Did you go to the hospital for a check-up? Maybe it was a misunderstanding."

"I did, but the doctor said if the guy is, you know, lacking, it might not be noticeable afterward. They suggested bringing him in for a check-up too. Can you imagine me telling Anthony he's too lacking and I need to take him to the hospital? With his vengeful nature, he'd definitely find a way to get back at me."

Winona couldn't help but tease, "Ever heard the saying, 'Speak of the devil'?"

Rebecca immediately looked around nervously. "Don't..."

Before she could finish, her phone rang.

Rebecca glanced at the caller ID. Sure enough, it was Anthony.

Winona saw it too.

Rebecca glared at her, "You really jinxed it. Bad things always come true."

She answered the call. "What do you want?"

Since agreeing to be Anthony's girlfriend, they hadn't been in touch.

To be honest, Rebecca was a bit nervous.

Anthony said, "Did you forget you have a boyfriend?"

Rebecca felt a lump in her throat, struggling to respond. "No, I didn't."

"Then have you ever seen a couple go five days without talking?"

Rebecca retorted, "You didn't contact me either. You're the guy, you should take the initiative. Do you have no shame?"

She expected Anthony to come up with excuses. He always did, probably a habit from his job, always needing to be right.

But Anthony surprised her by apologizing. "You're right. I should have been more responsible as a boyfriend. I'll be more proactive from now on."

Rebecca had hoped Anthony would argue with her like before. His apology made her feel like she was bullying him. "You don't need to apologize. I wasn't blaming you. I just..."
