Chapter 566 Is This All There Is?

Lydia shook her head and slipped back into her usual doting self. "It's nothing. I probably just got up too early and I'm a bit tired."

She glanced toward the door. "Where's Zach? Didn't he come back with you?"

"He's swamped right now, so I came back first..."

Before Winona could finish, Lydia's phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and quickly said, "I need to take this call," before heading upstairs, not even waiting for Winona to finish.

Lydia stayed upstairs until Zachary returned.

Zachary looked at the empty living room, wheeled himself over to Winona, and took her hand. Even though they lived together now, he never missed a chance to be close to her. "Why are you alone? Where's Mom?"

Every time Zachary came back before, Lydia and Winona would chat endlessly, like a mother and daughter, making him feel like an unwelcome son-in-law.

"Mom went upstairs to take a call and hasn't come down yet."

Zachary glanced toward the second floor. Just then, Sarah came over with some fruit. "I'll go get her," he said.

Considering Lydia and Evander's age, they had installed an elevator during the renovation in case they got sick and couldn't use the stairs.

Lydia was in her room, having already ended the call. When she heard the knock on the door, she composed herself before opening it. Seeing Zachary, her eyes immediately reddened. "Zach."

"Sarah cut some fruit. I came to get you."

"Is Timothy dead?" Although the police had already made an announcement, she was still a bit uneasy.

"Yeah."

"So, it's all resolved?"

"It's resolved, but to avoid affecting the Bailey Group's stock price due to the illegal fundraising issue, I can't reveal my identity as Zachary just yet."

Lydia frowned. "Timothy's been abroad for years. Even when he came back, it was only occasionally. He couldn't have developed any significant connections."

There have been a lot of personnel changes in Dreamopolis recently, not just in the Bailey Group but also among some officials. Given Timothy's age, he couldn't have managed it all.

"Could there be someone else behind this? Someone who orchestrated everything?" A familiar face surfaced from Lydia's memory, bringing with it a wave of fear.

She couldn't help but shiver, quickly shaking her head to dispel the image.

What bad luck, Lydia thought, feeling like her mind was tainted.

"Have you figured out who Timothy's so-called 'dad' is? Is it..."

Evander hadn't gone into detail about why Zachary had to stay with the Ramsey family as Nicholas, but Lydia had guessed the general situation from the few words he had said.

Zachary replied, "We've figured it out. Timothy had someone impersonate him to make me think there was someone else behind this, so I wouldn't act rashly. The servants in the villa were also his people, and he had a stand-in to answer your calls when he wasn't around. Since you didn't pay attention, you didn't notice."

What Zachary said wasn't a lie. It was what Samuel had found out. But they both knew this was likely what the person behind the scenes wanted them to believe. There was no need to tell Lydia that.

Lydia got anxious, her emotions running high. "No way, this has to be Alton's doing."

Zachary didn't want her to get fixated on this. "Alton is dead."

"No, he..." Lydia stopped herself just in time. "Zach, Alton is definitely not dead. He's the mastermind behind all this. Trust me, be prepared. He's way more troublesome than Timothy."

"Is it because of this?" Zachary showed her something on his phone.

Lydia glanced at it, her eyes widening in surprise. Her breath became unsteady. "How do you have these photos?"

She flipped through them one by one. They were all wedding photos, not what she was looking for. She breathed a sigh of relief but tensed up again.

Zachary said, "I found them on Timothy's computer. Mom, was it you who sent someone to his house tonight?"

Lydia was speechless.

"Mom, Alton is dead. These photos were sent to you from Timothy's phone. He planned everything, knowing you'd get emotional and hurt yourself. Even if you didn't fall, he probably had a backup plan. He wanted to use your name to lure Winona upstairs. I've already had the photos destroyed. You don't need to worry anymore."

Lydia hesitated for a moment before asking, "Were there only these photos on the computer?"

"No, they only sent me a few. Mom," Zachary took her hand, "I know what you're worried about. I've deleted them all. It's okay."

"Those can't be seen by your dad."

No man would be okay with seeing photos of his wife with another man, even if they were fully clothed and nothing happened. Anyone would be upset.

Zachary patted her hand reassuringly. "Okay."

At the top of the stairs, Evander, who was about to step out, turned around and went back downstairs.

Hearing footsteps, Winona, who was scrolling through her phone, looked up and saw only Evander coming down. "Dad, where are Mom and Zach? Didn't they come down with you?"

Evander had just come back and went straight upstairs when he heard Lydia was up there. "Don't tell your mom I went up."

Winona nodded. "Okay."

With everyone gathered, Sarah finished cooking. Zachary and Lydia came downstairs, their expressions giving nothing away.

Zachary walked over to Winona and took her hand. "Let's eat."

Seeing everyone at the dining table, Lydia felt a mix of emotions and couldn't help but smile. "Our family is finally together again."

After months, Zachary was finally back, and their family was reunited.

Evander took her hand and patted it comfortingly. "Don't cry. You'll make the kids laugh at you. They'll always remember you as the crying old lady. Aren't you embarrassed?"

Lydia's sadness instantly dissipated, and she glared at him angrily. "Who's laughing at me? No one at this table is laughing at me except you. You don't get to eat."

With that, she took Evander's bowl away.

Evander was speechless.

He felt wronged. He was just trying to comfort her because she looked like she was about to cry.

Winona couldn't help but laugh.

Zachary cut her a piece of steak and said calmly, "Come back more often. The more you see it, the more you'll get used to it."

Seeing Evander's resentful look, Winona stifled her laughter and said, "Okay."

Winona hadn't come back often before, so she didn't know as much about this as Zachary did.
