Chapter 580 Fool

Winona could already picture the scene. If she let Zachary take care of her, Rebecca would definitely grab her by the legs, lift her up, and shake all those romantic notions right out of her head.

When a guy says he'll take care of you during the honeymoon phase, it sounds sweet. But when he's tired of you, it turns into "I'm the one supporting you." Without your own money, every bite you take feels like charity.

As Rebecca would say, men are like dogs; you can't give them too many bones, or they'll stop appreciating them. You have to keep them wanting more.

If you stay home all day, always watching him, and your social circle revolves solely around him, he'll get bored. Once the novelty wears off, you'll be like a piece of lint on his clothes—he'll want to get rid of you as soon as possible. If he's a neat freak, he might even throw out the clothes you touched.

Winona rolled her eyes. "How could the rings be sold out? If you're going to make an excuse, at least make it believable."

She knew Zachary was just making excuses, but his interruption had already ruined her sleep.

Winona grabbed her clothes, ruffled her messy hair, and sat up in bed. "Get out, I need to change."

The mall was bustling with people around ten in the morning, but the jewelry store was relatively quiet.

The sales associate, wearing white gloves, discreetly glanced at their outfits. Her polite smile became more genuine. "Miss, if you see something you like, feel free to try it on."

Winona nodded. "Okay."

Zachary took a quick look around. The designs were pretty standard, but having a custom piece made would take at least two months, and he couldn't wait that long. "If you don't see anything you like, we'll go to another store."

To the sales associate, Zachary was a walking gold mine. She couldn't let him leave so easily. "Miss, this is our standard collection. The designs are quite simple. Would you like to see our VIP collection?"

Zachary's phone rang. It was Richard calling. "I need to take this call. You go ahead and look."

Winona nodded. "You go ahead. I'll let you know when I've made a choice."

The VIP collection was indeed more impressive. The designs, quality, and craftsmanship were all superior to the standard collection.

Winona picked out a ring with a band of small diamonds. It didn't have a large diamond or a complicated design, making it suitable for everyday wear and work.

"Could I see this one, please?" Winona asked.

"Of course, you have excellent taste. This is one of our designer's proudest creations. Each ring is unique, and once you purchase it, all other sizes will be destroyed to ensure exclusivity," the sales associate said.

She measured Winona's finger and carefully placed the ring on a velvet tray.

Just as Winona was about to pick it up, a voice exclaimed, "This ring is gorgeous! Lon, will you buy it for me?"

A hand reached over and took the ring right in front of Winona.

Winona turned to see a woman showing the ring to a rather unattractive man. "Mr. Ramos, look, it's like it was made for me. Isn't it beautiful?"

She clung to Lon Ramos's arm, pouting and pleading, "Will you buy it for me? You're the best."

Lon smirked and whispered in her ear, "Tell me, what makes me the best?"

The woman blushed and coyly replied, "You're so naughty."

Winona was speechless.

She couldn't believe these two were making such crude jokes right in front of her. It was nauseating.

Lon, clearly pleased, pinched her cheek. "Alright, alright. If you like it, I'll buy it."

The woman, feeling triumphant, looked down her nose at Winona. "Is there no standard for this VIP area? Anyone can try on the rings, even if they can't afford them. Clean this ring before you pack it. I don't want to catch anything from her."

Winona finally recognized the woman. Wasn't she the one who had tried to scald her with hot water and ended up crying when Zachary scared her? Cecilia Walker, or something like that.

Winona said, "I saw this ring first. Even if you've never been to school, you should understand the concept of first come, first served."

Cecilia sneered, "Buying things is about who pays first. Right, sales associate?"

The sales associate hesitated. "Well…"

She didn't want to lose any commission. "This Miss did choose it first. Maybe you could wait…"

"Think about it. She's just trying it on. She might not even buy it. I'm ready to pay now. Ring it up, and I'll swipe my card."

The sales associate's eyes lit up. Nearly twenty million dollars! How much commission would that be?

She apologized to Winona. "Miss, maybe you could look at other designs."

Winona smiled nonchalantly. "Sure."

She had glanced at the price earlier. The ring, with its small diamonds, probably cost a few thousand dollars to make. Charging nearly twenty million was outrageous. No wonder it hadn't sold; it was hard to find a fool willing to pay that much.

The sales associate, relieved by Winona's easygoing attitude, turned to Cecilia. "This ring is priced at $19.99 million. Please follow me to the payment area."

Cecilia didn't respond, but Lon looked shocked. "$19.99 million? For this? I've bought bigger diamonds for two thousand dollars."

"Mr. Ramos, I like it. Will you buy it for me?" Cecilia pleaded.

"This ring is worth a few thousand at most. They're treating me like a fool. Pick something else. If we're spending $19.99 million, it better be worth it."

Winona raised an eyebrow, enjoying the show. Lon's emotional intelligence was even lower than Zachary's. Cecilia didn't really want the ring; she just wanted to show off in front of Winona.

"Mr. Ramos."

Lon's expression changed as if he had an epiphany. "You're not an actress hired by this store, are you?"

"Mr. Ramos, what are you talking about?" Cecilia's face turned red with embarrassment. "With my family background, how could I be an actress?"

The sales associate, also embarrassed, showed a hint of sarcasm. "Would you like to look at something else?"

Cecilia reluctantly took off the ring and handed it back.

The sales associate cleaned the ring and turned to Winona. "Would you like to try it on or look at other designs?"

Cecilia scoffed. "She can't afford it. If she could, she wouldn't have let me take it."

Before Winona could respond, a credit card was suddenly handed over from behind her. "Charge it."
