Chapter 320 Good Morning, Mrs. Bailey
As Zachary's words hung in the air, the searing pain that had been tearing her apart vanished instantly.
Winona snapped out of her drunken haze and bolted upright on the sofa, glancing down at herself.
Most of her clothes were gone, but her pants were still on.
She looked back at Zachary, who still had that well-dressed, beastly vibe.
"So, what were you doing for the past half hour?"
She had finally gathered the courage, thinking she could repay the favor she owed him. Besides, Zachary had his illness, and she had her own issues. They couldn't be alone forever because of their problems.
Zachary might not be husband material, but he was great both in physique and looks, which she liked.
So, it was a win-win.
Afraid she might chicken out at the last minute, she had downed a bottle of liquor and spent a long time building up her nerve, only for it to be wasted.
Zachary replied, "Kissing you."
Winona touched her burning face, both embarrassed and annoyed. "Shut up."
Zachary got up, went to the liquor cabinet, and brought back another bottle of wine. This wine was brought by Dylan last time. "Want a drink?"
Winona glanced at the bottle in his hand and rolled her eyes. "Don't think I don't know, this wine is an aphrodisiac."
"The doctor said we should try more often. Let's try again," Zachary held her hand, his tone soothing. "Trust me, this time it won't hurt."
His expression was focused, his eyes shining brightly.
For a moment, Winona couldn't tell if he was talking about making love or about their marriage.
In the manor.
Frank, who was about to leave, turned back.
Eva, who feared nothing outside, was very well-behaved in the Turner family. "Uncle Frank, this person is crazy, always thinking about sending her son to study abroad. When I went to the Dreamopolis museum a while ago, she knew I had lived abroad before and kept pestering me to help her son. When I refused, she held a grudge."
'Wasn't Aleah in detention? How did she suddenly appear in the manor? And why was her son's study abroad opportunity canceled?' she thought.
Sending someone to study abroad was a piece of cake for her, and Aleah's son had good grades, so it wasn't a hassle. It was just a matter of money.
Even if she was brainless, she wouldn't leave such a big problem for herself over a small amount of money.
'So, all of this was a trap set by Winona. It must be. Otherwise, how would Aleah know I was in the manor and appear so coincidentally when Uncle Frank was leaving?' Eva smoldered.
Caught off guard, Eva couldn't think of a good way to handle it and could only keep defaming Aleah.
"Rodolfo," Frank interrupted her, "take Eva to the lounge for a while."
Eva panicked. "Uncle Frank..."
Frank looked up at her. "Are you not even listening to me now?"
Seeing him angry, Eva had no choice but to follow Rodolfo to the adjacent lounge. As she left, she gave Aleah a warning look.
Rodolfo kept a close eye on her, so she didn't dare speak to Aleah, just hoping this clueless woman wouldn't mess things up.
In the lounge, Eva was restless, glancing towards the hall, trying to fish for information. "Rodolfo, does Uncle Frank have a thing for Winona? I've never seen him treat any woman so well."
Rodolfo replied, "Miss Turner, don't you always say I'm just Mr. Turner's dog? How could a dog understand its master's thoughts?"
Eva glared at him secretly, not daring to let Rodolfo notice. "Rodolfo, come on. You grew up in the Turner family, and I've always treated you like a brother. I was just joking. You must know Uncle Frank's thoughts. Tell me."
Just as she finished speaking, Frank came over from the hall. "Book a ticket for Eva back to A City. She is not allowed to set foot in Dreamopolis again."
He was speaking to Rodolfo.
Eva was stunned and raised her voice in disbelief. "Uncle Frank, are you sending me back to A City for an unrelated woman?"
"Whether related or not, it's no excuse for you to bully others. Eva, you did such a despicable thing for your selfish desires, bringing shame to the Turner family."
"I didn't, they framed me. This is all Winona's setup. I'm your real niece, and you would rather believe an outsider than me. Uncle Frank, do you have feelings for her..."
A loud slap echoed. "Shut up."
The one who slapped her was Kyle, who had rushed over. His usually gentle and elegant face was now filled with anger. "I'm sorry, it's my fault for not teaching Eva well, making her so disrespectful. I'll take her back to A City to reflect."
Eva, who had been shouting and crying out of grievance just now, was now as quiet as a mouse, being dragged out of the lounge by Kyle.
Frank sat on the couch, tiredly pinching his brow and taking a sip of coffee.
Rodolfo asked, "Mr. Turner, should we intervene in this matter?"
He looked towards the door. "Miss Eva has lost so much face, she probably won't let it go."
The next day.
Winona was woken up by the alarm. She opened her eyes and immediately saw Zachary's face, very close to hers.
He was sleeping soundly with his eyes closed.
His handsome features looked soft in the bright daylight, without the usual sharpness and coldness.
Last night.
Just thinking about it brought back a flood of memories.
Winona raised her hand to press her throbbing head, only to find that Zachary was holding her hand.
As soon as she moved, he woke up.
Zachary squinted his eyes, looking at her with a lazy, teasing smile, his voice carrying the unique morning huskiness. "Morning, Mrs. Bailey."
Winona pulled her hand out of his grasp, her face cold. Her hand had red marks from being held all night. "Don't call me Mrs. Bailey. We agreed last night, I helped you with your problem, and now we're even."
