Chapter 503 Willing to Remarry
This jerk was trying to sweet-talk her into marrying him again with his usual tricks.
Winona was already boiling with anger and had no outlet for it. Hearing his nonsense, she reached out and grabbed Zachary by the neck, shoving him onto the bed. She wasn't strong enough to move him, but he played along, lying down without a fight.
In her fury, Winona didn't notice anything odd. She climbed onto the bed, knelt beside him, and grabbed his neck with both hands. "Zachary is still missing, and you want me to be Mrs. Bailey, a widow? And now everyone knows I'm just your ex-wife. How can I be Mrs. Bailey? By declaring it myself? Or by dreaming like you?"
Zachary placed one hand on her waist, letting her do her thing. A wide, charming smile spread across his face. "So, if I go back to being Zachary, you'll marry me again?"
Winona snorted, "In your dreams. I haven't even settled the score with you for lying to me."
"Didn't I already come clean about who I am? Can't we just move past that?" Zachary's voice softened, guilt creeping in.
"Did you reveal it willingly?" Thinking of the past made Winona even angrier. She glared at him fiercely. "You only came clean because your acting sucked, and you couldn't hide it anymore. At first, you were so arrogant, saying you weren't interested in pregnant women and accusing me of seducing you."
Those words were like daggers.
Zachary knew she'd bring up old grievances. He rubbed his temples and said in a low, hoarse voice, "I'm sorry. Back then, I thought keeping my distance would protect you. If I had known..."
He didn't expect he couldn't keep it hidden.
Actually, he knew that as long as he saw Winona, he couldn't hide it. He couldn't stand seeing her sad or other men showing her affection. Knowing this, he took over the Ramsey Group and became Nicholas, always trying to avoid her. But his goal was the Bailey Group, and Winona was the chairman's assistant. No matter how much he avoided her, they were bound to meet.
"You're so full of yourself..." Winona was so mad at Zachary's self-righteousness that she didn't even want to talk. She pulled her hands away from his neck. Even though she hadn't used much force, a noticeable red mark remained.
Zachary's smile faded when he saw her anger. He reached out to pull her back.
Winona dodged him and said, "Just keep being your undercover self and stay away from me, so your identity won't be..."
Before she could finish, Zachary had already pulled her back into his arms. "I'm sorry, Winona. I didn't think this through. As husband and wife, we should face everything together instead of keeping you in the dark under the guise of protecting you."His attitude was sincere, and he looked ready to take any punishment. As he spoke, he lowered his head and kissed Winona. "I know you were really sad back then, but I wasn't feeling any better."
Winona had only suspected his identity back then, not confirmed it. So her sadness wasn't from his words but from missing Zachary. Yet he knew the woman in front of him was the one he loved but still forced himself to say those things to push her away.
Zachary felt worse than she did. Not only was he in pain, but he also had to carefully consider the consequences of his words once his identity was revealed, fearing he might go too far and truly lose her, or not be harsh enough and let her see through him.
In short, every step was taken with trepidation.
Winona was still angry, but seeing his cautious and pleading look, she couldn't harden her heart to say more hurtful things. "Let go. I need to take a shower," she said.
Although her tone was still stiff, it was noticeably softer compared to before.
Zachary felt a surge of joy and blurted out without thinking, "I'll join you."
Winona instantly recalled the scene in the bathroom that day, her face flushing a light shade of pink, and even her eyes reflected a mix of embarrassment and anger, creating an utterly captivating image.
Zachary's Adam's apple bobbed faster, and his hand around her waist tightened, holding her firmly in his arms.
Their breaths mingled, and Zachary lowered his head, his lips brushing against her ear. "Winona, can we wait a bit before you shower?"
Zachary's lips lightly pressed against her thin earlobe, his tongue sweeping over it, the wet sensation spreading from that spot like an electric current, making her body tingle.
Winona's knees went weak, and she almost lost her balance. Zachary caught her, and they both fell onto the soft bed.
He lay on his side, looking down at her, his fingers repeatedly tracing the contours of Winona's face. His heart filled with satisfaction, as if the person lying beneath him was not just a person but a lost treasure regained. From her forehead to her cheeks, he kissed Winona's delicate, cool skin.
The hot breath falling on her body gradually eroded Winona's rationality. The meticulously ironed shirt was now wrinkled from her grasp.
Winona gradually lost her senses under his overwhelming kisses. It wasn't until his lips started moving down her neck that she barely regained her ability to think. She said, "Zachary, I'm on my period."
Zachary was immersed in the thrill of the kisses. Before this, he never thought there would be a day when he could do this with Winona without deceit or coercion. He kissed her with focus and devotion.
Zachary was still trapped in his desire, unable to extricate himself. At this, Winona quickly pulled away.
She fled into the bathroom, and Zachary, a step too slow, was left outside.
With the door closed, Winona's voice came out softly from inside, "Get me a sanitary pad."
Zachary was speechless.
