Chapter 296 Two Hundred Million in Insurance
After Samuel left, the room got tense real quick. Winona didn't dare look at Zachary. Sexual dysfunction was a huge blow for any guy, and it had just been casually mentioned in front of her, an outsider.
Knowing Zachary, he'd definitely take it out on her.
Winona's mind was racing. What did Samuel mean by saying her reactions after sex were more intense than other women, making her ex impotent with her? Wasn't it his own fault?
And how could Zachary be impotent? He clearly had...
No one said a word. The awkwardness just kept growing.
Just as Winona was thinking about saying something to break the ice or maybe just leaving, Zachary's cold voice cut through the silence. "Let's go, I'll take you home."
"Okay."
She had forgotten she drove herself until the car pulled out of the parking lot and passed the front entrance of Night Club.
She glanced at Zachary. Half his face was in shadow, making it hard to read his emotions.
But Winona could tell he was in a bad mood, so after a couple of seconds, she wisely kept her curiosity in check. To mask it, she even turned her face towards the window.
Zachary stared blankly at the road ahead, his expression an unreadable facade. However, his hands clutched the steering wheel with increasing intensity, veins straining against his skin, lips drawn into a taut line, revealing his inner turmoil.
He didn't want Winona to know about it, but now that she did, he wasn't as mad as he thought he'd be. He had even planned out what to say if she asked, but she stayed silent the whole way, not asking a thing.
Zachary felt irritated. At first, he could barely hold it in, but as they got closer to the apartment, the irritation became harder to suppress. "Don't you have anything to ask?"
Winona had wanted to ask for a long time, but she held back, afraid of hurting Zachary's pride.
Since he had kept it a secret for three years, it must have been a big hit to his manly pride. But thinking about it, it made sense. A young man who had everything suddenly faced such a huge blow—it was only natural for a psychological chasm to emerge.
Contemplating the delicate nature of the situation, Winona felt uncertain about broaching the topic. "From what Samuel said, it appears that this issue only happens when it comes to me. Have you perhaps explored this with someone else? Maybe with someone else..."
Winona stopped herself, swallowing the rest of her words because Zachary's expression was so grim that she felt he might strangle her at any moment.
From his reaction, now she was sure he was really impotent.
Winona licked her lips and sat up straight. "Didn't you tell me to ask? No need to get angry."
"I haven't," Zachary said, turning his head back to the road, his voice stiff. "With you, I just can’t go all the way till the end. With others, I can't even keep it up."
Winona blurted out, "Have you tried men?"
Zachary slammed on the brakes, the tires screeching on the road. The car behind them almost rear-ended them and cursed them out.
Zachary's face was as dark as coal, and he gritted his teeth, saying word by word, "I know better than you whether I like men or women."
Winona had nothing to say. There was no way she would try with him again. Even if his current condition was caused by their first time, she was also a victim. She had stayed in the hospital for two days because of him, and it was all because of his poor technique and roughness.
"So take some medication. Mrs. Davis gave me some pills last time, and they're still in the kitchen at Regal Oaks. If you need them..."
"If I take the pills, who do I try with? You?"
Winona shot Zachary a frosty smile. "In your wildest dreams."
Zachary let out a cryptic laugh and slowly restarted the car amidst the honking of horns.
Winona looked out the window, but her mind was elsewhere. If she had known all this during their marriage, would she and Zachary still have divorced? Probably, because her disappointment in him wasn't sudden. The issues between her and Zachary weren't just about sex, but it wouldn't have been as humiliating as it was now.
She thought of Samuel and asked, "Mr. Anderson and his girlfriend, do they have a good relationship?"
With Samuel's straightforward nature, at least there wouldn't be any misunderstandings that took three years to clear up.
Zachary glanced at her and caught a fleeting look of envy in Winona's eyes.
He felt even more irritated, pursed his lips, and after a few seconds of silence, said, "Yeah, pretty good. His girlfriend wants to stab him every day."
After a few second, he added, answering her question for real this time. "Samuel just bought a $200 million insurance policy for himself, with Julia as the beneficiary."
Winona shot him a look of disdain. "If Julia kills Samuel, the insurance won't pay out."
Zachary joked, "Before he dies, he'll wipe all her fingerprints off the weapon, leaving only his own. No matter how the police investigate, it'll be ruled a suicide."
Winona rolled her eyes. Indeed, psychos hang out with psychos. No wonder she always felt out of place with Zachary. Her mentality was too healthy..
Winona's shock fueled Zachary's satisfaction. "Still envy them?"
Winona snapped back to reality. So Zachary was just messing with her.
She glared at him with disdain. "Slandering your own friend, you really have no shame."
The car stopped in front of the apartment building, and Winona turned to open the car door, not intending to stay a moment longer. Zachary grabbed her, his eyes filled with deep emotion. "Winona..."
Winona cut him off. "Don't even think about it. Have you ever seen a woman help her ex-husband with that kind of problem? And is this something that can be fixed by trying more? Instead of wasting your breath here, why don't you get rid of that quack doctor of yours who talks nonsense all day?"
With that, she pulled her hand away, opened the door, and quickly walked into the building's lobby.
