Chapter 317 It Was You Who Saved Me Back Then

Winona walked up behind Zachary and spotted Frank coming out of the emergency exit. He was tall, dressed in comfy casual clothes. His narrow eyes had the sharpness of someone in power but also the kindness of an elder.

He was alone. "Mr. Bailey."

After greeting Zachary, Frank turned to Winona and nodded slightly. "Miss Sullivan, this incident is our fault. As an apology, feel free to ask for anything."

He was clearly trying to downplay the situation.

Winona's eyes fell on Frank's wrist. "Mr. Turner, can I ask you something?"

Frank replied, "Go ahead, Miss Sullivan."

They entered the room, and Winona pulled out a broken bracelet from her bag. It was covered in mottled marks, untouched since she tore it off.

"Did you save me in A City?"

She remembered his voice.

Frank stared at the bracelet fragment in her hand for a long time before smiling. It was a polite smile, but it carried a different emotion. "Yes."

Winona asked, "Do you know my mother, Mr. Turner?"

Rodolfo worked for him, and that Hillside Villa, filled with traces of her mother, was also owned by him.

"We met a few times many years ago, so... an old acquaintance."

Winona wanted to ask more, but Rodolfo had already brought Eva and Ian in. They looked as obedient as dogs, heads hanging low.

Ian, likely having been coached, immediately said, "Miss Sullivan, I'm sorry. I drank too much and accidentally went into the wrong room, did something inappropriate, and caused you trouble."

"You don't need to apologize to me, Ian. You should apologize to Mr. Simmons. He's the real victim."

Thinking of that man made Ian want to vomit again.

Winona stared at him intently. "Do you think anyone here would believe the childish excuse that you got drunk and went into the wrong room? Even if you were drunk, the door wouldn't have opened itself to let you in, right?

And those media people were invited. If they hadn't been given permission or a hint, they wouldn't have been waiting at the door.

You're in the entertainment industry and backed by the Turner family, with plenty of women throwing themselves at you. We met for the first time today, with no past grievances..."

She paused and then asked pointedly, "So who told you to ruin me, Ian?"

Ian hadn't expected Winona to be so articulate. He looked up and glared at her. "If Miss Sullivan hadn't been flirting with me downstairs, saying suggestive things, would I have gone to your room?"

He turned the tables and accused Winona. "Otherwise, why didn't I go to 2017 or 2019, but specifically to 2018? I didn't ask anyone for your room number. You can check that."

He hadn't asked because he already knew.

2018 was a room Eva had specifically prepared for Winona.

The more he spoke, the more confident he became, finally standing tall and careless about what he had done. "I haven't even asked you yet. Why was Mr. Simmons in your room? Did you call those reporters? Are you trying to frame me and harm the Turner family?"

In the room were his uncle Frank, his uncle's assistant, his cousin, and Zachary, who had reportedly had a nasty divorce with Winona and was likely, in his opinion, there to watch her suffer.

Ian didn't believe a powerless woman could do anything to him.

After all, everyone in the hall had seen him talking to Winona. As for what was said, who would know better than him?

Winona was speechless.

The Turner family was truly rotten.

The women were ruthless, and the men were shameless and slanderous.

"Flirting with you?" Winona's contemptuous gaze swept up and down him. "For what? In terms of looks, power, and wealth, how do you compare to my ex-husband? Why would I choose you over him?"

Zachary, who had been frowning, suddenly was in a better mood. He took Winona's hand. "Why reason with a beast? He doesn't understand human language."

Ian looked at him in disbelief.

But Zachary didn't look at him. Instead, he turned his gaze to Frank. "Mr. Frank Turner, it seems Mr. Ian Turner doesn't think he's wrong. In that case, let's not waste each other's time. My ex and I will take our leave."

Frank instinctively touched his wrist but found it empty. He was lost in thought for a moment before pinching his brow. "If he doesn't know he's wrong, then beat him until Mr. Bailey and..."

For some reason, he changed his words. "Miss Sullivan is satisfied."

Winona didn't quite understand. After all, Frank was the head of the Turner family, but he was only Ian's uncle.

'Would he really beat his nephew? Wouldn't he have to consider Peter's face?' she thought.

But Ian shouted, "Uncle Frank, you're going to beat me for an outsider? You've never hit me since I was a kid. Ah...! Rodolfo, fuck, you're really hitting me, and hitting me hard."

The beating was indeed harsh.

Rodolfo had kicked him to the ground.

Zachary pulled Winona back a step. "Take it outside. Don't scare my wife."

Winona glanced at him and lowered her voice. "I'm not your wife. There are others here. Don't ruin my reputation."

"After all the times I've helped you, can't you give me some face in front of others?"

Winona said nothing.

Zachary chuckled and continued whispering in her ear, "If it were before, you would have snapped at me."

Winona rolled her eyes. "So now that I'm not snapping at you, you're uncomfortable? Zachary, are you a masochist?"

Zachary whispered in her ear, "Winona, you're soft-hearted."

Everyone heard this whisper, even Ian's screams couldn't cover it.

All eyes in the room turned to them.

Winona couldn't hold it in and glared at Zachary. "Can't you keep your mouth shut?"

Rodolfo was indeed hitting hard, and Ian soon lost the strength to fight back, begging for mercy and crying.

Seeing this scene,it was enough; Winona pulled Zachary to leave.

Frank handed her a business card. "If you need anything in the future, call this number."

Winona took it. "Thank you."

The banquet downstairs had already ended. As they reached the door, Eva chased after them. She glanced at Zachary. "Winona, can I talk to you alone?"
